I'm not even joking. This is a serious question. I know the Astros are the worst team in baseball. And I know that they're in a division with two tough teams in the Rangers and Angels. But will the change in leagues and opponents help them be a better squad? I'm just asking if they have a chance to win the AL West, or a spot in the wild-card game, not the World Series.
Once again, this is 100% serious so don't rail on me and just answer the damn question. Excuse me.

The only contending they'll do is with the '62 Mets.

As a life long Astros fan, I do not see it happening.

The Astros are going the right way and doing the right thing.
Just gonna be ugly for a bit......or maybe like 3-5 years

Astros might lose 110 games next year. So what you are saying is they have a chance.

I just wish we had an official MLB thread to discuss stuff like this. Oh wait........ Damn. You know with the pitchers and catchers not even reporting until later, you can forget there's a thread for baseball. Oh yeah, nice wisecrack.

In the AL and in a Division with the Rangers, A's and Angels.....the only thing the Astros are going to be contending for is breaking the record for most losses by a team in a single season.

Every team goes through this stretch. Just give them a few years and they'll be good again.

I dont see it this year. But there is that very slim chance but personally I think they have no chance.

They have been my favorite team for a long long time. The Killer Bs were awesome. Their 80s jerseys were awesome. Nolan Ryan was awesome. Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, so much good stuff.
But man these last few years have been terrible. I don't see how they are ever going to stop being the worst team in the entire league. I know they have traded almost any player with talent except Jose Altuve for prospects, but I still think they are going to blow forever.
Then again, the Nationals went from 100 losses to being damn good. But the Astros have no Strasburg or Bryce Harper on the farm.

They have no starting pitching...Bud Norris is a nice pitcher but not a No. 1. There season will depend on if the 2 youngsters(Lyles and Harrell)pitch well.

They will be bad this year, but atleast they are moving in the right direction. I am amazed more teams don't do the full rebuild like they are doing, but I guess they have worry about the leans years as well. Houston seems to be on the right path and has rebuilt their farm system from terrible to top-10, which will help them in the long run.

The Pirates were terrible for years too and they've recently picked up the pace the last couple seasons. Anything can happen...
