If a company has a spot for you, but does not have the funds to bring you, they will offer you a roster spot if you pay your own way. ROH, Chikara, etc. have all done it and will continue to do it. Its not a slight. Its simple economics. These companies are giving you a decent size stage to work on and it could lead to yourself getting additional work down the road.
The idea of indy wrestler's working for no money but for a chance isnt new. I'm sure almost every big name will tell you there was a point they had to choose whether they wanted an opportunity offered to them or stand their ground for pay.

So they announced that The Bullet Club will be apart of King of Trios this year. Styles and the Young Bucks. Instant favorites I'd say.

Match #1: The Batiri (Kodama/Obaryian) v The BDK (Jakob Hammermeier/Pinkie Sanchez) in a Challenge of Immortals Match Obaryian p Pinkie Sanchez in 10 min after a double leg slam/knee lift. Arcane Horde is on the board in the Challenge of Immortals
Match #2: UltraMantis Black v Volgar the Unknown. Mantis has 2 pts so a win here earns him a title shot. Volgar pinned Mantis after a boot by Hallowicked. #Chikara 3 mins. This was a complete squash for Mantis until the finish. Kevin Condron out to recruit Volgar. Volgar leaves. Condron says he knows Volgar's secret. He threatens that he will eventually tell the world.
Magic Move Match is next. Juan Francisco de Coronado picked it. It will be a superkick. Match #3: N_R_G (Hype Rockwell/Race Jaxon) v Frightmare/Silver Ant v Proletariat Boar of Moldova/Prakash Sabar v Throwbacks -Dasher Hatfield p Silver Ant in 8 min with a death valley driver. Fun opening fall but felt short. -Angelosetti p Sabar after a 3D in 14 ish min. Winner of the final fall has 3pts -N_R_G take the final fall and earn a title shot. Total length was 18 min. Hype p Angelosetti after a superkick by Race into his corkscrew backbreaker.
Match #4: Icarus v Nokken for the Chikara Grand Championship Icarus won clean with the Blu Ray in 4 min. This felt really short but frankly it shouldn't have been any longer.
Match #5: The Wrecking Crew (Jaka/@devastationcorp) v Crown & Court (Kimber Lee/@gentlemanjervis / Los Ice Creams) Max Smashmaster p El Hijo Del Ice Cream after a tombstone. As expected the comedy in this was strong.
Match #6: Oleg the Usurper v Hallowicked Hallowicked p Oleg after a running kick in 9 min. Hallowicked has 3 pts.
Main event time... Challenge of the Immortals - Match #7: The Snake Pit v The Battle Hive Ophidian p Amasis after a somersault spike piledriver from the top. Seriously. Crazy finish. Went 20 min. Best match by far

Chikara lost it's luster to me years ago. I watch for King of Trios, but that's about it.

Chikara just doesnt do it for me anymore..... Why is that friend. Chikara is such an amazing company.. It is not the beast it once was with talent like Kingston, Claudio, Hero, Quack, Brodie, FIST, and many others. King of Trios always intriques me but that's been it for a few years.

Just starting to watch the Chikara UK Tour. Will probably be a fun watch considering the UK crowd will be very into it, as they are for all wrestling.

I'm going to the show in Haverhill this Saturday. It's my first show. What should I expect? Is it like other indie shows as far as seating? Like should I pre-buy tickets or will I be ninja just showing up when doors open?

For my birthday this year I plan on loading myself up with a bunch of Chikara shows. Any suggestions?
