I just got home from watching RAW live tonight from Nashville. It seemed like we got a decent show, but I wasn't able to fully enjoy it. I've been watching wrestling since the late 80's and have been going to live shows since 1992, but this was the first time I can say that I didn't really have a good time. It wasn't the WWE's fault, they gave us a Jericho vs D. Bryan match, and thats enough to make a ok Raw great under normal circumstances. No, the reason I didn't enjoy my night falls completely on the people sitting in the seats behind me.
I understand that when you purchase a ticket, you have the right to cheer, to booo, to get loud and to have a good time. But when you're behavior takes away from the experience of those around you who paid the same price for their ticket, thats when it becomes a problem. The entire row sitting behind me were loud and very obnoxious tonight. Its their right to yell things at the wrestlers, but these guys (and girls) just continually yelled, and alot of the time they were yelling pointless stuff that had nothing to do with what was going on. At one point they were yelling over and over about someone they were refering to as 'Chicken Hat.'
It wasn't just when they were yelling at the performers either, this group were being loud when they were just talking to one another, as if they wanted everyone in the arena to know that they knew AJ's real name or that Cesaro was once known as Claudio Castonoli and worked for ROH or anything along those lines. Now I don't have a problem with 'smart' fans talking about what they know, thats fine, but most of the people are there to enjoy the show and don't want to hear them yelling about it.
At first I thought I was being a bit to hard on them, but I began to notice everyone in our section were getting annoyed by them. Everytime one of them would say something (which was pretty much the whole show) I would notice someone looking back at them, disgusted looks on their faces. But what really bugged me was when I started noticing the kids around us. This group make one of their loud and sometimes obscene remarks and you could see it bothering the kids. This kids come to a show like this in awe, they see their heroes live and in person...and I know it sounds a bit corny, but there's a feeling of magic to it when you're a kid. And seeing the kids around us being affected by the way the group was carrying on, kinda made me feel sad for the kids. I even saw a kid crying after the show, cause he had came to see the Rock and wasn't able to see or hear what the Rock was saying because of them.
Maybe I don't really have a reason to complain, maybe it's there right to do what they want after buying their tickets. But to be the first time in my 30 year life that I've not really had a good time at a wrestling show and to see that I wasn't the only one that was being negatively impacted by this bunch, I just felt like I needed to share. So I thought I would share this with my fellow WFigs board members, and see what you guys think. Or if you've ever had a similar situation.

Apparently none of you was disgusted enough to do anything about it...

There was someone that told part of the staff, who did say something to them, but after they walked off it was the same. And there were some of us that did say a few things to them, but again it did no good.

I had a similar problem with ROH fans in NYC when I would sit in the balconies. Now I buy more expensive seats and don't have to listen to the nonsense.

I'd be willing to bet that it was fellow member KvE. -- There's not really a lot that you could've done though, staff was told and nothing changed, what were you supposed to do?

Exactly, there wasn't much I could do about it. Just wish they would have been a bit more respectful to those around them.

CHICKEN HAT! Chicken Hat's the man! He's a rad dude.
Anywho, my only problem tonight was this dude about 2 or 3 rows infront of me who stood up, raised his arms, and waved them around for the entire duration of Swagger and Rock's entrances, making it impossible to see around him. Standing up and occasion arm raising is fine, but good lord, give the people behind you some seeing ability.

I had a similar experience at a UFC show in 2011. It wasn't a group, just a couple, but the girl in the couple would just yell out the most inane things like 'Ooooh! Takedown'! and other useless things. Despite me and several other people telling her to shut up and for her boyfriend to get her to shut up, she also continued in some capacity, even when security was involved. Overall, I feel for the OP.

I went to a Raw years ago (DX Little People Court) and these 2 guys in front of me got 8 Beers. They both drank one and then one of guys foot hits one and it caused a domino affect. I was standing in pure liquor for an hour and a Half.

When i went to the SmackDown Wrestlemania revenge tour in manchester last year there was a little kid sat next to me. He wasn't annoying at all, he was actually pretty funny. As for your story, if i was there, everytime they did something annoying i would tell them off. The part i'm most bummed out at is the little kid crying about the Rock part. That's just awful.

Outside the show itself potentially being bad, this is the one risk you run in going to a live event. It sucks, man. I've been there.

I made a kid cry at the last house show because when Punk was pandering to the crowd, getting pops of each side of the audience when taunting throwing out his tee, I shouted "THROW IT TO HEYMAN!" Punk looked our way nodded and Heyman ran around from the other side of the ring to catch the tee, I heard some kid behind us moaning..... I dont even care, was so funny

Idk but when I go places; wrestling events, concerts, even baseball games. If someone is making your experience worse with their behavior, they give a dedicated number to text and alert staff members. If it was occurring throughout the night, you bet your ass I'd be alerting thr staff all night. Eventually they'd get tired of being called to the same section. People have every right to cheer and boo, but everyone also has the right to enjoy the show. And when your behavior starts to negatively affect the experience of those around you, that's when you've crossed the line IMO, and anything that happens is your own fault.

Sorry they ruined it for ya.
Problem is, people act like it's so hard to be respectful to each other. And for some odd reason they think they're part of the entertainment. When in actuality they just look like ignorant jackasses.

Apparently none of you was disgusted enough to do anything about it... Exactly this. Not to sound like Rocky Balboa or anything but the same thing happened to us at the last Raw I went to (The tapings in England last November). Some obnoxious smarks sat in our row found delight in shouting/booing/cursing John Cena. There was a mother and son sat in front of me and the mother was becoming increasingly frustrated and her son must have been about 10 years old max. So we stood up and shouted over 'matey in the Ziggler shirt, there are kids around, watch your mouth or we will smash up the lot of you.' Has more affect when you're a heavily tattooed chavvy looking fella with 3 other half-cut dudes who were also willing to throw them out if we had to. After the kid and his mother left we settled our beef with the smarks and joined them in a communal chant of 'Walking in a Ziggler wonderland'. Everybody pays admission, but there's no excuse for poor manners and bad language around children in my eyes. Out of respect, we had to restrain from shouting so much when we first laid eyes on AJ Lee in person.

It's unfortunate that people like that can ruin an experience. I've had it happen at a lot of shows (well, concerts), but never really a WWE event.
I'm always a little bothered by the people that go to WWE shows and just act like they know everything about everyone and don't stop shoving their (relatively useless) knowledge in other fan's faces. When I go to a WWE show, I pretty much just keep to myself and enjoy the show.
The last time I got "rowdy", and by that, I mean doing a lot of chanting, etc, was Summerslam '06, because my section was almost entirely adults, and they were all loud and quite funny. We can be heard throughout most of the show, actually.

I seriously cannot stand that. Survivor Series '11 was my worst live experience to date.
Me and my brothers were there, there was a row behind us of LOUD OBNOXIOUS wanna be smarks; they kept talking about "insider' stuff, but it was obvious that they were reading dirt sheets because half of the info they were claiming to know was wrong ( I know for a fact. They even pulled out the "Different Undertaker" thing).
They would try and start chants for the dumbest, most random shit, and fall flat on their faces. Eventually, the row of people behind THEM, which was a couple of families there together, told them to cut it out because they were ruining the show for the kids, and they shut up.
Sorry for your bad experience buddy!

I went to a show in late 99 and saw the most disgusting way fans could act. I was at the Smackdown taping the night D-Lo Brown accidentaly paralyzed Droz. When Droz got hurt, everyone there knew right away that this wasn't a storyline, paramedics rushed to the ring, everything stopped, D-Lo Brown started freaking out in the ring and even Albert came out breaking character and looking legitimatly concerned. It was a very tense and somber moment as no one knew the extent of Droz's injuries and coming just a few months after the Owen Hart tragedy made things that much more real and concerning, because Droz was not moving at all.
Anyway back to the original point of the post. There was a group of guys (had to have been drunk) that the whole time, were heckling and making distasteful comments throughout the whole procedure leaving those around them with a more uncomfortable feeling than just the incident. They started a boring chant. They said something along the lines of "This guys a jobber, scrape him off the mat and lets get back to some real action". and lots of things along those lines. People told them to keep quiet and show some respect to what is going on as this is not storyline and someone just got seriously hurt. But they were "too cool" to listen and continued on acting like jackasses. They were seriously close to getting their butts kicked, but luckily for them by the time breaking point came, Droz was being safely transferred to a medical facility.
I remember they cut right to the main event of the show, which was Rock v. Val Venis and the show ended about and hour earlier than it was supposed to. If you watch that Smackdown, they added many recaps to the show, and some of the matches they taped for Sunday Night Heat earlier in the night were inserted into the broadcast.
I have to say that was the worst experience I had as a fan, and as a teenager at the time, still couldn't believe how people could act so callous toward someone who was that seriously hurt.

This reminds me of WrestleMania 28. I was sitting in the nosebleeds in the section facing the camera and facing the stage. One row directly above us, there sat two men, one dressed exactly like Nikolai Volkoff and one dressed just like Hogan. Every match, Nikolai was loudly spouting off what he thought we're 'smart' comments, but they mostly didn't make any sense. At one point, my roommate (not really a fan) asked me what the hell he was saying. I had to say I honestly didn't know.
Finally, in the middle of the Rock-Cena match, a mother with kids in our row got up, turned around, and screamed in his face. "Will you SHUT UP?! We've have to listen to your [G.D.] mouth all night!" Didn't stop him. In fact the Hogan guy yelled back at her to "respect WWE Legend Nikolai Volkoff!".
