As soon as The Rock won at wrestlemania last year i knew a rematch was coming up at WM29.
If they were only going to have a one off, Cena would've won. Instead there is going to be atleast two matches and by having Rock win the first one, it makes John Cena's win look even bigger. If he beat The Rock in the first one it looked like he beat a has been. By beating him after he's defeated Cena himself and ended the longest reign in the last 25 years, it makes Cena's win look even bigger.
I'm just not sure why anyone here thinks any other match with Cena and Rock at WM29 else was/is possible?
Punk was really a pawn in this whole thing. His reign was expanded because the belt couldn't go on Cena until he beat Rock for it, and Rock couldn't win it until the Rumble when he'd be back and Punk's heel reign was credible.
No way he or anyone else ends up in the match of Icons at Metlife stadium. Is this that shocking?

Exactly. Right when Rock won I knew, oh Cena will beat him next year, probably for the title. For "smart" wrestling fans, some aren't too great at predicting stuff.

I guessed we'd see it again for Cena to get one over. But I didnt think it'd be at Wrestlemania :/

Pretty sure everyone expected it.

I certainly didn't expect it "the second" The rock won. Anyone that claims to have expected The Rock to be world champion going into Wrestlemania 29 as champion "the second" Cena lost is a liar.

Totally expected it but I held out hope that WWE would finally break up the monotony or having repeat main events at Back to back Mania's

I more so expected it to happen at Summerslam, but expected it regardless

I was hoping instead of thinking Punk would make it to the main event of WrestleMania. I still think there's a chance. (Well, I hope, really.)

I more so expected it to happen at Summerslam, but expected it regardless Prob would of been better and had Cena win that one and have the blow off match at this year Wrestlemania. Then at least we don't know what's coming. I said it last year as soon as Rock won though it was gunna be a rematch. Even watching the Royal Rumble i was like like WTF when Rock won and my dad said idk why your surprised you even said it 3 months ago that's what was going to happen.

It's passing the torch, that's the way I see it.

I think we all pretty much did. Maybe we didn't necessarily immediately determine it was going to be at Wrestlemania 29 for the WWE Championship, but it was blatantly obvious that there would be a rematch and Cena would win. There's no way in hell he wouldn't end up on top.

I saw it coming, as much as I wish I didn't.

You're right. I don't think anyone's denying that. I don't think on a whole people are upset that the match is happening again. We're upset that the WWE went about it in the most obvious way possible.

I thought a rematch at Summerslam was likely and if not then I thought WWE would be ballsy for once and use Cena's loss to add some depth to the character and give him a bit of a mean streak.
But honestly, no I didn't expect a Wrestlemania rematch of what they were calling a 'once in a lifetime event'. That would just be insulting and stupidly predictable...

this is like your third thread on the same topic. enough already.
it's not that people didn't see it coming, it's that people didn't want to see it. big difference.

Even though it's pretty damn predictable I've been looking forward to this rematch since. It's a pretty big moment to be honest. Something people would look back on and say "wow".

sadly your right the whole thing is to make super cena more super I HATE IT he can be a big star but why none is allowed to outshine him is a joke. he's pretty much spent as far as his character goes

I had a feeling before the match even happened. When Rock was at the WM29 press conference that took place before WM28.
I actually think we still might see another at some point.
