I've seen a lot of people saying that the joint shows didn't work due to lack of interest, reliance on hand-ins, etc. It made me think that this was probably due to people struggling to put out their own show regularly, let alone having to do an extra match.
So, instead of doing joint shows every now and then, what do you guys think to this?
A Pic Fed Festival.
We take a week, and get up to 7 Feds on board or so. Then, promote it in our sigs showing that there are going to be seven new shows posted in this one week so people visit.
Ideally, one show would be posted per day with someone's PPV or one of the top Feds on the boards closing the festival.
If we only got 5 or 7 feds then we could pick a couple of favourite Shows from Hall of Famers, like PWF, JWF, RWA, etc to post and people to get nostalgic, or to see how Pic Fedding was done 5-10 years ago.
What do you guys reckon?

Love the suggestion Titch. Not quite sure though if this won't end up like the joint ppv's though. As of now we only have about 4-5 active feds with more I'm sure coming. I think time and interest all around is always going to be an issue. IMO, the best way to keep interest up is for everyone to reply to shows and just post shows. That's just something that's gonna take a commitment from everyone. Expecting something on a weekly or even bi weekly basis is gonna be difficult. It's hard enough gettin a bi-monthly ppv up. As i suggested before, perhaps the framing should be done around the Joint ppv's. Instead of everyone building to their own ppv. Why not just build your main event to the joint PPV. It's one match and it will be the one you want featured in your fed. If there are other storylines, let them play out in your regular shows. Heck if I knew that brm or Warsman's main event ppv was gonna be on Winter Warefare and not just some random match, I'd be more inclined to watch and even go back and watch some shows to get caught up. THEN, I think that's where the advertising would help out by putting the Logo and the match card in our sig. Speaking of advertising, maybe we can pm various people like the admins, other mods, people from other boards, etc just to advertise the event. Kinda like a pic fed news letter. A youtube promo might be good too Sorry for the ramble. My ideas run through me like a fiber one bar Titch, it's totally possible I could have completely misunderstood your premise, so sorry if I did, lol. Good discussion though .

I think it'd be a fine idea. It's something new.
I agree with DJ, though, if we all built our big matches towards the Joint-PPVs it would be great as well. Unfortunately, I haven't received one entry for Winter Warfare.
Maybe we can pan out this 'festival' idea and see what we can come up with.

The problem with building big matches towards the joint-PPV, is then everyone is more or less on the same time schedule. My feud might be ready for the match in, for example, March, but the joint-PPV could be in June and therefore there's a few shows in between where it's just left hanging. Also, the PPV could just not end up happening, which would mean you'd have to go back to having it on a normal show rather than giving it the big climax it deserves. The PPV matches I guess, could always be rematches from feuds in people's feds, which I agree is a better idea than random one off matches with no storylines. The festival could make people want to start new feds too. People know that attention will be on them and want to start a fed, or get inspired to start a fed and be involved in the next festival once they've seen it. Another pulling point to feds, could be that their show could be stickied for a day or two. Having 7 shows over 14 days is probably better, then each show gets two days at the top of the board. It also draws it out a touch longer to keep the buzz going. It's good to discuss, like you said deskjet, anyway as brainstorming together will hopefully produce a good solution.

Hmmm good points Titch. Isn't the festival expecting people to have matches done at a certain time though or is it just taking what's on the board at the moment and strongly promoting it? I guess I need some clarification? Lol

That is true, deskjet, that it does depend on everyone getting them in for a certain time. I guess with some people saying that they're starting new feds it could be served as a launch pad for some of those feds to debut. It does rely on at least five people putting out shows, as there's probably only two maximum spaces for 'Blast from the Past' shows.

On a side note, I wouldn't mind the return of a monthly top 25 characters in various pic Feds like shifty used to do. It brought attention to Feds, rewarded peoples creativity, and sorta provided a motivation for people to do shows. Of course it'd have to be scaled down to maybe top 5 or 10. Stinger maybe could sticky it at the end of the month? It'd be like the pwi top 25. It might be somethig that would be more feasible until we get more Feds in? Idk just throwing stuff against the wall.

I've always loved that, it would also provide people with motivation to write and book well...I know for me I would, as I would want to get one or two of my characters on that list.

I'm liking that Top 5 idea, dj. You could also do the Top 5 Matches from that month too. Would be pretty cool to see that.

It is so sad to see the board really struggling like this. Years ago your show might have a chance to get bumped off page 1 in a matter of days or so, there was just so much activity. Props to you for still trying to coming up with ways to get activity up.

Yea it's sad the board went awry, but it's encouraging to see people trying to pull together again:). I'm willing to do the top 5 every month for pic fed characters/wrestlers if no one else wanted to do it or maybe we could alternate? I sorta liked the idea of a non pic fedder doing it because it allowed for some unbias, but I guess whatever will work

It would probably be best coming from someone 'neutral' who doesn't run a fed. That way you won't be biased towards anyone (hopefully!)
Must be nearly a decade since you did a fed, dj?

I think that alternating idea could be a good one, since it is always hard to consistantly run stuff, it takes some pressure off of people.

I agree that a non fedder would be good..I know if I did it I would be afraid to put one of my guys in the countdown for fear of it seeming to biased
