What attire is the L1 Sgt Slaughter based on? Is there any pictures out there of him actually wearing that attire?

I remember someone saying NWA or AWA? I wish they would have done the camo gear.

Worst figure? No.......Worse attire choice? Yea. Ive been one that's opening defended Mattel's choice of attires from some of their Legends. Whether you're old enough or not or only watched WWF and nothing else, Hawk & Animal accomplished more as the Road Warriors then the Legion of Doom....Period. The Jimmy Snuka attire is/was very questionable but Im surprised people didnt find it somewhat at least a little neat. For a group of collectors/fans that goo themselves for attires like reverse color Kane and different varieties of Ultimate Warrior, Im surprised so many people put this figure down even though its different. Its not like we've never seen him ever wear tights and boots. However, I will firmly stand behind the belief that the attire choice for Slaughter was just absolutely awful. As a wrestling fan for 25+ years, Until the video was just posted above, i would have never been able to guess when Sarge wore that attire. Obviously the black spandex with camo shirt is the #1 attire but you could do the black top, camo shirt and khaki pants as #2 or even his Mid Atlantic/early WWF of all black spandex as #3 but they went completely off the wall and did his red/white/blue attire and to this day I STILL do not understand why and its a choice I just cant defend.

It's a fine figure. Sarge looks great in red, white & blue.

Far from the worst figure. It's a great figure. Personally I didn't want the camo t-shirt. I wanted the Sarge I first saw watching wrestling with my father. All black no t-shirt, but what we got was pretty sweet as well.

I'm not sure he's actually wearing his singlet. I think it might just be a wife beater.@ 14:00+Heck. The package artist couldn't even find a pic of this attire. Thats why its photoshopped to look like the figs attire. (ie: basic 24 AJ and some others)I understand that MDT most likely collected Jakks, and assumed that many of us did as well. So they wanted to give us attires that Jakks didn't do. I also understand that MDT wanted to use the singlet for other figs (hence not having the cutouts on the back). I just wish the figure was accurate to one of these vids/pics. As far as I can tell (searching ALOT) he never wore the black elbowpad/white wrist tape combo w/ this white attire (or any other for that matter)[and I doubt i've seen him with white wrist tape in any pic/vid i've seen. Black pads...maybe].

I personally like the figure a lot and enjoy that they tried something different. However, if I had my way, this is the attire he would have worn. I know they couldn't have had the GI Joe logo, but the rest would have been fine. Maybe I'll try and get an extra to fix up one day.

Yeah he wore the "Joe" attire a lot in the AWA. Would have been a nice attire. Could have just had the red, white & blue stripes down the legs without the GI Joe logo or just USA on his legs.
These tights are fairly obscure and while they make a nice variant, they shoudn't have been the first Sarge released.
It's a shame we still don't have a classic Sarge.

Obviously can't have the Joe stuff, but Matty did say in a Q&A once that it wasn't out of the question as an exclusive some day.

It's a fine figure. Sarge looks great in red, white & blue. I agree. Sarge may be more memorable in black & green, but Red, White & Blue are more appropriate colors for him, IMO. As to this comment from East Coast; "I just wish the figure was accurate to one of these vids/pics. You know, while it'd be a Basic figure, a 2-pack with Antonio Cesaro and the US title could be a great way to get the camo Sarge. Cesaro defending his title against him late last year.

I knew it was a bad idea to talk about that figure without having it in my hand. I was too lazy to get it from the display cabinet

Yeah, they were trying to make versions that were not like the CS Jakks figures.
