This seems to be a discussion that has constantly rolled on ever since South Park took the piss of Family Guy a few years ago. What do you guys prefer? For me its definitely South Park; the views Matt & Trey give, particularly in the DVD commentaries on the episodes, ring very true.

Trey and Matt are probably the funniest guys to ever grace the earth. Even the worse episodes of South Park are funny and well written and thought out. They produced a unique and great product.
I hate everything about Seth McFarlane, all of his shows are the same and his characters have no depth, you can tell he doesn't give a crap about his show. All he wants is to make money. The worst episode of South Park is better than every episode of Seth McFarlane's crappy shows combined. He basically ripped off the Simpsons but didn't have the intelligence to write a good show.
South Park all the way.

Family Guy, more so the early ones.
I havn't seen enough South Park to truly judge, but I'm not a fan of some of the style, although episodes I have seen have been fun and creative.

Definitely South Park. Their jokes are actually thought and part of the show instead of on family guy where its only "Hey I remember when I...." and thats the only joke in the episode

I'm going to say Family Guy on this one mainly because I only seen one or two episodes of South Park and I can't stand the little box cutouts the characters seem to symbolize when they walk.

I like both South Park and Family Guy, but if I were to choose which show I prefer in terms of humor and context I would most likely go with South Park. Both shows have made fun of some very touchy topics such as religion, politics, sex, racism, etc. In fact, there is a banned episode of Family Guy based on abortion. The difference to me is that Family Guy relies on gags that don;t relate to the story to get some laughs, meanwhile South Park makes jokes that do relate to the story it relays. The recent episodes of South Park have made fun of current events that are happening in the world and while it does make me laugh, it also makes me think about how true some of the messages they address really are.

I have never been a South Park fan. I used to watch Family Guy so that gets my vote.

south Park. Family Guy tends to strike gold with a joke then repeat it into the frickin ground...
like "It's gonna rain" was funny the first time...not the 50 other times after it they tried to recapture that joke.. same with alot of others..
I enjoy both but SP is waaay better IMO. there are so many times i roll my eyes with FG thoguh..

I'm a fan of both shows, but in my mind, Family Guy is better. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are brilliant and exceptional with their work, and they deserve a medal for what they go through just to make an episode. But when it comes down to it, I usually look for humor. Family Guy points out some of the most common, subtle things and makes it into a joke. I don't see myself enjoying South Park like that. "The Poor Kid" was amazing because of the humor and Penn State satire. And "Tonsil Trouble" as well. However, for every great piece, there's a run-of-the-mill piece.
I don't want to continue even though I have a lot more to say. But Family Guy will always be better than South Park overall IMO.

South Park is better IMO. At its peak it was absolutely phenomenal. I think it's really taken a down turn in the last couple of seasons though. I didn't even bother finishing the last one as it was constant pop cultural reference (done badly may I add) after the other.
Family Guy at its best can be hilarious, but its rarely there, especially after around season 5. I haven't watched many of the newer seasons but the ones I did see were watchable.
Overall, South Park though.
