Volbeat: Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies
That opening riff in Dead But Rising... Oh Lord yes. Doc Holiday.. awesome. Room 24.. sick.
Otherwise, its way too "happy" and poppy for a Volbeat album

Otherwise, its way too "happy" and poppy for a Volbeat album I like that alot of the songs felt happy. Highlights to me are Cape Of Our Hero, Hangman's Body Count, Lola Montez, Room 24 and Our Loved Ones. The whole album is very good I think.

I didn't mean it necessarily in a bad way, its just not exactly what I was expecting on first listen. I remember their interviews saying they had some heavy riffs and it was a very guitar oriented album, so I expected most of it to be the in your face, opening to Dead But Rising style. But the second run through I liked it a lot more and found myself moving along with the more "happier" songs a lot

Presently running through ChiDem because it's been a little while since I last heard it. Glad I caught GNR live right after they released this because Axl still cared at the time.
