I was thinking of all of the PPV's that were released on VHS and wondered if they would ever see a DVD or Blu Ray release

With the single releases of Wrestlemania, I really hope they do it with Summerslam, Survivor Series and the Rumble and later on other events.

I was thinking about this the other day. I think WWE could make a killing by releasing old WWF, WCW, and ECW PPVS.

They could, but unfortunately I don't ever see it happening. Makes me wish Tagged Classics would of been released in the US

A lot of stuff needs and deserves a blu ray release.
Especially the documentaries like Bret Hart's.

I have a seiki blu ray player that plays region 2 stuff, so I can watch the tagged classics. Comes in handy for the WWE Tagged Classics and current era blurays that arent released in the US.

Yes they can release them all if they wanted to. They could also release WCW PPV if they wanted as they own the library. One of the smartest things Vince did was buy all those old wrestling libraries.

I'd love to have the first two One Night Stands on Blu-ray. And any of the big PPV sets would be awesome on Blu-ray as well.

Releasing old PPVs on Bluray would be pointless. None of them were shot in HD before Royal Rumble '08. But if WWE can convince people that they have magically made them HD and fleece gullible fans, they should. I think they'd struggle though, most people are too smart for that.

Well to be fair i don't think a lot of people would care and still buy it on blu ray, i know i would....just the fact that we'd be getting nice, old school ppv' in the sleak blu ray cases in what would still be good quality picture, is enough for me to want to own it, throw in some nice bonus features and it's a no brainer. Just because it wasn't shot in HD doens't mean it can't get a good looking blu ray release, by that logic none of the older or even really old movies like westerns, should've ever gotten a blu ray release neither and yet they did, and they sell. If there was a line of wcw blu rays i'd buy them immediatly and not give a damn about the hd or not hd debate..

Old movies were generally shot on 35mm film, which allows for much higher resolution (when digitised) than Bluray format. An old movie, providing the film has been well looked after, is much higher than HD. Anything shot on SD TV cameras isn't, and never will be. It'll just look like an upscaled DVD. If people are happy to buy stuff on Bluray just to have it in a Bluray case though regardless of quality, then WWE should keep pumping them out. Are the prices much different between the DVD and Bluray versions of stuff like the In Your House set?

Ok thanks for explaining, you clearly know much more about the technical issues of films making than i ever will lol,it's nice to get insights like this That being said tho i have bought movies before on blu ray that i already owned on dvd and the blu ray didn't look much diffrent at all picture wise, yet i was still happy to "replace" the dvd version with the blu ray. i guess it's one of those visual things, i love the sight of blu rays on a shelf, the blue cases, the general "sleakness" they have compared to the bulkier dvd cases...if i have a choice between dvd and blu ray i will always go for the blu ray these days,it's become somewhat of an habit i suppose, even with silly stuff like for example i was after Knucklehead (big show wwe movie) and for the longest time i only found the dvd version everywhere and i litterally refused to pick it up because i knew a blu ray version existed and i wanted that one....is it a great movie ? offcourse not (altho i liked it), should i have gone through all the trouble to find the blu ray, realisticlly, no.. so i guess i'm vince's perfect victim lol, as long as they keep pumping out blu rays i will throw my money at them regardless of picture quality really if it looks as good as dvd or just a tiiiiiiiiny bit better, i always feel i got my moneys worth, i'm quickly satisfied i guess. as for pricing, over here in Belgium blu rays tend to go for a few euro more than dvd, usually between 5-8 euro more than regular dvd versions. online if often cheaper tho but i'm also one of those suckers that can't resist picking up the odd wwe release in stores when i see it in front of me...even tho deep down i know i could find it cheaper online somewhere. Unless the pricing is too extreme...my local free record shop store has the wwe falls count anywhere blu ray in store for a whopping 34.99 euro...now i'm not that big of a sucker either...that's just insane and i don't understand how they came up with that price all of a sudden, the other wwe releases are usually priced pretty normal for retail store norms.

If they did they would probably only go up to 1999 due to Benoit featuring on most of the PPVs from 2000 onwards.
Thats probably why the re-release of WrestleMania DVDs stop before WM16 which was Benoits first PPV.
Is it hard for people in USA to get UK DVDs like Tagged Classics? Most DVD players can be made to be region free and their unblurred so worth the effort if you can get them.
