I read an interview where they were claiming that they were very excited to be digging deep into the Nintendo world and creating figures for characters for the first time ever. So I have high hopes for this line, but I hope the releases start coming a little quicker and the 6" start becoming possible to find ever.
Did anyone pick up the Giant Mario? I'm tempted to add him to my Nintendo Display!
Edit: Found the next few lineups coming in July and August... hope they ship sooner than that, though!
Wave 3 (coming July 2015):
4″ Fire Mario (with Fire Flower accessory) 4″ Goomba (with a Coin accessory) 4″ Peach (with a Crown accessory) 4″ Fox McCloud (with an Arwing accessory) 6″ Yoshi 6″ Skull Kid (from Majora’s Mask)
Wave 4 (coming August 2015):
4″ Tanooki Mario (with Tanooki Leaf accessory) 4″Samus in Gravity Suit (with Morph Ball accessory) 4″ Shy Guy (with propeller accessory) 4″ Fire Luigi (with Fire Flower accessory) 4″ Ocarina of Time Link (with Hylian Shield accessory) 6″ Piranha Plant 6″ Metal Bowser OR Dry Bowser

Snore... not impressed by those lineups at all. For starters where are the 6" classic Links and 6" classic Samus'? Those are both no-brainers whatever strategy they are following, how can they not have scheduled at least one of those by now? Jakks are such morons.
I have no interest in modern designs or 4-inch garbage. I hate the "Mario and his Smash Brothers friends" feel of this line, it's far too modern and far too kid-aimed.

The only two I'm interested in are Fox and the Piranha Plant. The rest are all passes.

I like enough of the modern stuff and it fits well with my Nintendo display... but JAKKS seriously needs to get a vintage line out as well, like playmates did with classic collection Turtles. Hell- even re release those mini trophy diorama things from the late 80's! I do agree us fans who have grown up Nintendo are kind of being forgotten.
Even a Mario line based on Mario 3 art style I think would be cool. What would you like to see?
I think they connect their 4" and 6" line in an attempt to scale the bigger characters up, and the mini figurines are separate those little 2" ones, although the Pikmin are probably to scale with the 4 & 6inch

Would have liked OoT Link in the 6" scale. I'll buy it but that's disappointing.

I'd like to see a Goomba released in Kuribo's Shoe. A random thing to have but anyone who has played SMB3 remembers that thing since it was only in one level and lots of fun to steal and bounce around in.

Agreed, except for the fact that IMO Playmates did an awful job with the TMNT Classics line, with constant corner cutting, poor planning, dragging their feet, quality control problems, totally ignoring the fans, and inconsistent direction being just some of the problems. The series 1 Turtles sculpts were great but I really can't say anything else overly positive about the line. Honestly the TMNT Classics line was one of the biggest examples of wasted potential I have ever seen in my 20+ years of figure collecting, so I wouldn't really want Jakks to copy that strategy! I think a better example would be DC Collectables' Batman Animated Series line. Aside from the quality control issues in the first wave (which have supposedly been addressed in time for wave 2), the way the line has been handled so far has been absolutely fantastic and Jakks could learn a lot from DCD's "all-in", collector-aimed approach. If anyone at Jakks had half a brain they would be flooding the market with collector quality 6-inch CLASSIC design Nintendo figures. It seems obvious to me there is a huge collector market for this kinda stuff.

But I thought the movie edition Turtles they brought out were a vast improvement. You're right though- for instance I never even found BeBop at the stores- and that Krang and Shredder they showed protos of and never released were way too small. Hopefully a good quality 6" line of vintage stuff ends up coming out at some point- but I believe you just compared Jakks and Mattel and at least with wrestling figures in my opinion Jakks falls way short of the mark so I doubt they'll step up in a way Mattel has with the DCD stuff. We can keep hoping and making noise though!

Sorry by DCD I meant DC Direct, which is the former name of the company now known as DC Collectables (who are doing the Batman Animated line), it's a different company to Mattel (though Mattel does make DC figures as well). As far as I'm concerned DC Collectables' Batman Animated line is a near-perfect example of how a collector line should be handled. I'd only class Mattel's handling of collector lines as average really.

I have never collected them, but they were around when I was collecting Marvel Legends from Toy Biz back in 2003 and I see that they are still around to this day and at this point have amassed an impressive catalogue. I remember even seeing Marvel Zombies stuff at one point, which I almost bought. I'll have to educate myself on the DC Batman Animated line to see your point.

I don't have much knowledge of Diamond Select (who make Marvel Select) so I don't really have an opinion as to how well they handle the license. I only very occassionally buy Marvel Select - in situations where you can't get that character in Marvel Legends, or the Marvel Select version is somehow far superior.

Just saw an interview where one of the main people at jakks for this line claims we will be getting 8 bit retro figures in the main line this year for the 30th anniversary of NES and they should be displayable by SDCC

Yeh this was reported a while back, but I'm not getting too excited as I'm pretty sure they're "pixellated" style, which I hate. And will probably be cheap 4-inch style as well, which again I hate.
I just want some high-quality 6-inch figures done in a semi-realistic style, taking reference from not just game sprites but also manual illustrations, cover art, etc, possibly even other media from the classic era such as comics or other merchandise. Pixellated style looks stupid in my opinion.
For example with Link from Zelda, I'd like to see a high-quality 6-inch figure inspired by how he looks in the manual illustrations from A Link To The Past on SNES or perhaps how he looks in the illustrations from the Official LTTP Nintendo Player's guide (with a pink haired variant in reference to the game sprites). I love all that artwork so much and that's how I've always imagined the "real" Link. In contrast I only see the in-game sprite as a representation of the character really. Does anyone else share this kind of viewpoint (and NOT want "pixellated" versions)?

That was why I made sure to grab this Link and a few other figures in this style. Definitely taken from the Zelda artwork. I picked up the Mario Brothers as well which I believe were ripped straight from the original arcade cabinet and a Yoshi from SMW plus Tanooki Mario. All of them taken directly from official artwork. They may not be the biggest and flashiest figures, but definitely some of my favourites.

I picked up the 2.5" DK and Yung Link. Saw Link on the back of the 6" figures. When is he supposed to be released?

Perfect example of what I meant, thanks. ^ This is how I want the classic figures to look. How they were INTENDED to look. Not how the limitations of the hardware FORCED them to look.

I saw the pixellated pillow things they made and those are just fine, but I definitely didn't think they would make figures like that. I want what you want, the illustrated type from manuals, PR, Ads, etc. I don't mind the 4 inch style though. The quality control on this line is absolutely wretched, I must point out. I had to pay an extra 3 dollars for Wario at Toys R Us because someone at the factory took a dookie on every single one I ever saw at Target. So I can't really defend them on the line too much.

Picked up these guys Is it in the realm of possibility for fire emblem figures? Marth or Roy would be sweet in the 4" line
