Sculpting is when you use some form of sculpting compound (Apoxie, Super Sculpey, etc) to add features onto a figure. Beards, hair, clothing, more muscles, more fat, and more prominent facial features, are among the many things that can be done with the stuff.
Modding is when you do something to change the look on the body or head of a figure. For example, the sculpting acts I just described are forms of modding. Sanding off hair, either on the face or head or both, is another form of modding.
