Everyone wanted a trend so here we go!
So, today I go to my local Kmart to look for some figures as I had a little spending money. So I go to my first Kmart and they have some elite 17. so, I pick up Kofi Kingston and I go and head up to the service desk because at this store the Elite figures are $16.19 well at the other store in my area they are $11.04 so I asked for a store to store price match they called the other store to verify the price and did the price match.
So, I head to another store where I saw an Elite 15 Evan Bourne so I could have a matching Air Boom well they didn't have so I said "there's another Kmart near by I'll check there." Do I go and find Evan Bourne on the shelf and I grab him I go to the service desk and ask for the same thing I asked for at the other store and the lady threw a fit and tried to tell me I was wrong. I also showed her my receipt from the other store. so I asked for a manager her manager says to call the other store. I have her te number and she walked away and looked up the number herself as if I was lying. So, she gives them the name of the product and they said we don't have it instead of asking for the price. So, she comes back to me and say "they don't have it so, I can't help you. Next in line please?" I said "excuse me our transaction isn't finished" she said "next in line please!"
So, I called the store myself on speaker phone. I gave the lady the UPC and the girl clearly heard her say $11.04 . So, I asked for a manager again, the other girl pages her again and a second later the phone rings. She tells her the situation and the original girl and her were going on like best friends from high school. After all the disrespect and bs this girl put me through I had my gf run to the car bring me Kofi and I returned him. I said see I paid $11.04 and she reluctantly gave me my money and left the service desk.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with any store or any item?

The same thing happened to me at a Kmart about a month ago. I just had the Kmart that had the elites on sale ship the figure over from the one that didnt have them on sale.
The other alternative would be to buy the figure at the one that doesnt have them on sale and then take it over to the one that does have them on sale and do a return and then re-buy it at the on sale price.
Its a lot of work but I have heard of wrestling figure collectors doing stranger things...

I had a similiar problem with toys r us a few years ago.
Back when they had the spend $40.00 (or however much it was) and you got the free wrestlemania 26 basic HBK. I went into to tru and bought 2 legends 2 packs and a few elites (i can't remember which ones). When i got to the checkout the lady tried to charge me for the WM basic hbk. I showed her the ad but she did not care. I asked to see the manager and he was very rude saying there was no such promo.I showed him the ad and he said this is not one of their promos and if i wanted the figure i was going to have to buy it. I just walked away from the checkout and went home.
To this day i don't go to tru.

So you returned a figure you bought and wanted to prove a point? Yep. you showed her! She probably calls you "That dick with a doll!"
But yeah. That still sucks. Why do they make their jobs harder than they should be!?!

Why do they make their jobs harder than they should be!?! Her actions ended up costing her store a sale and caused him to return something to her store that was bought from another store. That puts more invnetory into her store and that particular store ends up losing money on the deal. It doesn't sound like much, but it can make a difference in the long run. Especially for a company that has had as much financial trouble as K-Mart has.

I get that the lady was unreasonably rude to you. She sounds like she has 0 customer service skills, and she didn't do her job very well at all.
On the flip side, seems like a lot of crap to go through just to save $5 on an action figure. But that's just me.

I'm gonna offer a "behind the counter" perspective on this, and I'm also going to qualify my opinion by stating that I work full time in commissioned sales, as my only job. Quality customer service keep a roof over my head and food on my plate.
You would not believe the amount of people who walk through my doors and "saw it cheaper somewhere else" without any sort of ad or some other form of proof to show for it. Now, in my business, I get a piece of every dollar that every customer passes across the counter to me, so yeah, if someone saw it somewhere else, I'm going to get on the line, call that place up, get their bottom line, and ensure that it's in stock ('cause facts are facts - if it's not in stock, you can't exactly go buy it for the cheaper price). I want that customer, because I need his business.
On the flip side, I've worked behind the service counter (insert any big box retailer here, I've probably worn their shirt/vest/cap). If a customer comes up to me and "saw it cheaper somewhere else", and they don't have some sort of leg to stand on (and no, a receipt is not a leg to stand on), namely an in date ad, then sadly, there really is nothing I can do for you. The mere fact that the first store took you at your word and made the effort to call the other store just demonstrated over the top customer service (a level of which I wouldn't, as a consumer, expect, nor deem necessary at a store like K-Mart).
You validated a UPC and a price on the phone, which the girl on the other end probably typed into the POS to validate the price. Even given that, K-Mart's price match policy does require the product to be in stock at the competitor's store in order to qualify for the price match.
All in all, yeah - this lady's attitude is crap. I won't vouch for that. But in terms of rejecting the transaction? I'd have done it too. I'd have been kinder about it, but the fact remains:
- A receipt from a nearby K-Mart for a different UPC is not a valid basis for a price match. - You didn't have an ad, so this, coupled with the first point, leaves little more to the service reps perspective than someone saying "I found it cheaper somewhere else".
As for the repercussions of the return, the margin on action figures is...minimal, at best. Toys of any sort are typically a high turn over item. They're not making much on the sale, and even a store hurting as much as K-Mart isn't going to lose their shirt over a return. I'm willing to bet, in fact, that the price match you received at K-Mart #1 dropped the price below cost, based on my own experiences with markups in that department.

That's rude, like really rude. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, but fortunately, I never faced one in real life. Did you call the store manager and complain about her behavior?

Id call Kmart corporate customer service to complain.
I worked retail for years. I was ALWAYS on the side of the customer. If something was damaged, then you got a discount. Most cashiers though are gutless chickens that fear being written up by management. So rather than be friendly to the customers they screw over the people paying there salarys.
Sorry to hear you didnt get what you wanted.
I recently saw on here someone post a picture of figures for 11 dollars. I went to Kmart today and saw they are on sale for 17.99.

Your first mistake was going to the service desk.
Just bring it to a cashier that looks like they don't give a crap-- which at Kmart, they all pretty much don't. If they call over the CSR then plead your case at that point, but half the time it never even factors in. It's worth the shot just to do it at the regular registers to avoid BS like this.
