Harvard just eliminated my national champion... I feel like I just took a major kick to the penis and all of that and such. Haha. Well, I guess that's what you get for picking New Mexico as your champions.

My bracket is looking pretty crappy. I've missed 6 games, & two of those teams I had going to the sweet 16. I'm glad I didn't get in any pools this year.

My brackets are still looking pretty good. Obviously missed on the upsets like Florida Gulf Coast, Harvard and Ole Miss, but I dont have any of them getting out of the round of 32 (which with the exception of Ole Miss, the other two probably wont) so it shouldnt hurt me too much in the long run.

The solace of my championship pick being booted in the first round is that my buddy just lost his championship pick in Georgetown. The world is at a kind of balance now though and all of that and such. Haha.

All you gotta do is look at recent play, and ignore rankings

Minnesota was one a done in the conference tournament and was not impressive in closing out their regular season and they (seeding wise) just knocked off UCLA. Same can be said for Wisconsin who won 6 out of their last 9 and played for the Conf championship (after beating Indiana in the Semis) and then they get bounced in the first round. You make it sound like Georgetown was slumping. They lost a 3pt OT game in the Conference tournament and then lost to Villanova on March 6th (coming back 3 days later to destroy Syracuse btw)...before the Nova loss you have to go all the way back to Jan to find another loss by G'town. The "hot hand" works on some teams but ignoring the rankings will get you bombed in the end.

Or it could pay off. I picked harvard too, why? Cause theyre a conference champion who is obviously underestimated. If theres a good payout potential.. You take it

So who is the bigger joke? Georgetown or Kentucky? Definitely Georgetown. They piss me off every year with their crap. I had them as a Sweet 16, maybe an Elite Eight pick.

You take it Why didnt you take Western Kentucky then? They're conference champions as well? Basically you just took a stab in the dark on some upsets and got lucky. The only team Harvard played all season long that even made the tournament was Memphis and they got beat. Unless its a 12-5 matchup, there are no "keys" to picking upsets. You just take a wild guess and hope it comes true. For every upset you pick, you probably miss 5 other ones.

VCU going down was a big help for me. My roommates & I are having a friendly wager on our brackets, & one of them had VCU getting to the final four.
