Hey, has anyone noticed the past 2 or 3 months of books penned by Geoff Johns becoming unreadable? I cannot comment on Aquaman, since I'm far behind (issue 7 was the last one I read), but Green Lantern particularly has been awful. The introduction of Simon Baz was intriguing and well written initially, but around issue 15 it starts to unravel and 16 and 17 felt like 6 bucks wasted. Is it just that he's coming to the end of his run (issue 20 marks a new writer) and now phoning it in? Why does JLA read so poorly then, since he just launched that title. It has intriguing elements (a team of questionable characters rounded up with the secret purpose of being used by the government against the regular League as a protocol) but in execution it took 2 sittings to force myself to read it. And issue 2 is shaping up the same way.
On a side note, David Finch has been a favorite of mine since the 90's and it was great to see him grow over the years, but DC is spreading him too thin with all the covers he's drawing and the fact that he inks himself now. Even his artwork which is now suffering can't save Justice League America for me. Get the man an inker, and not Richard Friend, that stuff didn't look so good. I miss the Marvel days with Danny Miki. In the very least Matt "Batt" Banning was a pretty decent match for his skills.
