I think he's a good mid carder. Solid in all areas really. He fits very well in the position he's at, but in no way resembling a main eventer any time soon. I think a proper gimmick/ persona could do a lot for him though. He has shown odd moments of being great. That's pretty much how I've always felt. I think he's grossly overrated around here, personally. He had a legitimate shot at becoming a main event player when Nexus was on top, but as soon as they started getting buried, he turned into more and more of a joke, and quite honestly, I don't think he's ever fully recovered.

You close-minded wankers can bank on my word when I say "Wade Barrett has the tools, the company, & the platform to be a carrier of WWE into the early 20s at the least." & as soon as he gets his confidence back since the elbow injury, it's just a matter of time.

This forum has a lot of British users so it's only natural that they love him just because he's from the UK.

Who knows, maybe because he stole Hero/Ohno's schtick and isn't very good at that either?

When he won NXT I was disappointed. I really didn't like the character he portrayed with the coat and the rose. Since his return I've had much more time for him, the beard and fight club style gimmick work well. Also the fact that he's English and northern helps!

This forum has a lot of British users so it's only natural that they love him just because he's from the UK. That's sort of the impression I got as well. It's like all the Regal love. British Matt Morgan is British. I thought they should have pulled the trigger on Barrett when he was in Nexus at SvS 2010. They didn't and he's never really recovered. Now, he's a sh*tty British wannabe version of Chris Hero. Without the stable around him I don't think he's particularly special and the bare-knuckle brawler thing does zero for me. I actually think it's a travesty that he's IC Champion when Damien Sandow's waist is naked. Does Barrett have the tools? I would say yes he does, but I also don't think he's found a way to be entertaining since Nexus ended. So he needs to find that place imo.

I mean he isn't bad at all in the ring he's actually a high quality perfomer both on the mic and in the ring. He just hasn't found himself yet. This current gimmick is terrible imo and I haven't liked i t from the start. In fact, I haven't liked him at all since his return from injury. Which is odd because before that he was one of my favorite guys.
What he needs to do is drop the Kassius Ohno rip off. Shave off the beard. Find himself a nasty finisher. And with the right rub, he will fly into stardom. Remember, last year he was set to win Money in the Bank until his injury. WWE has a lot of faith in him, they just can't figure out what to do with him.

I've liked Wade Barrett ever since his Nexus days. I think he's very good in the ring and just needs to develop some better mic skills and more of a character. Maybe give him a manager or something. They've ruined him ever since jobbing him out to Cena and splitting up The Nexus, though. Much like Cesaro, they've dropped the ball with him again and again.

Maybe give him a manager or something. I was thinking a manager would be a good idea. Who'd you think though? Personally I'd go with one of these; 1. Regal - he's English so the connection is there straight away, excellent on the mic, and has experience. Could use Barrett as a protégé. 2. (Heel) Foley - For some reason Mick came to mind, no idea why :s 3. (Not gonna happen) but Ken Shamrock? They could do a gimmick where Ken trains him to be an aven more brutal and vicious fight. Kinda like a boxing style manager gimmick

Wasn't it reported a few weeks ago that WWE was very interested in bringing Father James Mitchell in around the time Colter came around? Maybe Barrett can get written off for a month, get repackaged as a dark demonic character that Michell created or something along those lines.
Anythings better than what we've got now this Miz/Barrett IC title feud is the least interesting match out of all the Mania matches being hyped. They're both overdue for big changes.

I think people like him because of the vibe he brings to the ring..he's an english street brawler so it gives him this IM A BAD ASS that'll KO you edge. I like him as IC champ but I would like to see some new moves done by him..

To be honest, I don't get it either.
Yeah he's good on the mic, but nothing overly special. Yeah he's decent in the ring, but nothing overly special. He's good at everything but not great. He's average. And sorta boring.
In my opinion... Guys like Cesaro, McIntyre, Sandow, Rhodes are all more exciting to watch than Barrett.
