For my $$$ the best play by play guy ever in the biz Sorely missed for sure Definitely is. I still love his last appearance in the WWF, the audience gave him a standing ovation. Just tremendous! The big highlight of Mania XV in my book

30 years ago Bret Hart won his first WWF World title. I remember being shocked by this at the time. Flair had recently won it back and of all people I would’ve never picked Bret to be the one to dethrone him.

Looking back, it made sense to give it to Bret. He did all he could with the IC belt and was over like rover so no doubt he was the best choice With that said, Flair having not one but two short WWF Title reigns is not fair!!

I think it’s my own hang up with Bret at the time. In my mind he was still at that IC level, and to go from there to the big seat was jarring. No doubt he was over though and it was definitely a better option than say giving it to someone too flakey like Warrior.

Man imagine they gave it to Warrior with him getting axed shortly after the way he did. Also Bret winning it in Canada was the cherry on top.Really stamped his name in the main event scene

It probably would have helped Bret out a little more if he had to chase Flair for the title. Having a few matches where he almost wins but Flair retains the belt, then finally winning the belt in the end. Kind of like Flair was teaching Bret how to be a champion. Though, I believe the quick change was due to Flair getting injured and they needed the belt off of him.

Have Perfect cost em the match to further that feud.

IIRC he didnt like how the main plate dug into em while wearing it so it was scrapped after like 2/3 appearance the most

This was well done considering they didn't have a lot of time to put something together.
