I'd argue sports in general, but in particular basketball, has become way too individualistic dating back to MJ.

Urgh Spurs blew this. It should have been over in game 6 and no way they were going to win a game 7 in Miami for the title. Lebron is a great player but was very inconsistent in this series. And his post game comments are cringe worthy. He talks about how great he is and everything he has done yet never once thanked Ray Allen for bailing his ass out in game 6. Had Ray not hit that 3 and the Spurs would have ended the series there. Lebron is a freak of nature but his constant b****ing after every single call and his constant "I'm so great" bull s*** is why people hate him. We never once heard guys like Russell, Jabbar, Magic, Bird, or MJ talk about how great they were. Gonna have to stop you there. If Michael Jordan had a Twitter account in his prime, we would hate him too. He's my favorite player of all time, and the most relentless scorer to ever play the game, but he's also a cocky douchebag. You have to be one in order to be that good. You have to legitimately think you can make every shot you take from anywhere if you want to get to that level. Just how it works.

What irritates me is how many bandwagon fans the Heat has. I really wonder what would have happened if LeBron chose to sign with the Knicks or the Nets. Chances are they would be hated just as much as the Heat.

Chances are they would be hated just as much as the Heat. I think a lot of it has to do w/ Wade, Bosh, and Lebron's attitudes. Sure, they colluded for years and broke some rules by planning to team up for years, but I think the problem people have is their attitudes. If they didn't walk around like their s*** don't stink and didn't act like fools like complaining about every play and flopping all the time, I don't think people would have a problem w/ them as much. If they didn't act like fools, they wouldn't be hated as much. Look at the Celtics in 2008. 3 respected future Hall of Famers in Pierce, Garnett, and Allen joined together and didn't get nearly the amount of backlash the Heat did. Granted the Celtics traded for Garnett instead of signing all three during FA, but its basically the same thing. 3 hard working guys who went out and did their business. None of that "Lebron's Decision" crap, no 10 minute long commercials about themselves, etc...They just went out and played basketball. Joakim Noah put it best when he described the Heat as "Hollywood Hell."

Jordan was always a tremendous douchebag. A different kind of douchebag than James though. And to be honest as much as I have always hated James, he has finally matured a little bit. Wade is actually worse now.

So you're saying LeBron never gives his team any credit?

I remember some pretty lengthy sit down interviews with the Celtics prior to the '07-'08 season and a couple of years after that they had their own in season documentary special. People honestly look for reasons to dislike them. I hated "the decision" and the pre-championship celebration, but everything else is the same egotistical jargon we hear everywhere else, it's just intensified because of who they are.

Jordan famously coined the sports term "my supporting cast" as opposed to slumming as low as referring to the rest of the Bulls as his teammates. Great player, probably the best ever, but he has never been a humble man.

End of that era for Boston. Wonder what happens to KG and Pierce now

While Doc is a far, far better coach than that fool Del Negro, the Clippers are still overrated IMO. Chris Paul is the sole reason they played so well this year. When he went down for a few weeks during the middle of the season the Clippers literally crumbled. If Paul leaves they are in trouble. Griffin still lacks good post moves, a decent jumper, and has lackluster defense. He has a ton of potential but a long way to go. Jordan isn't much to write home about besides for the flashy dunks. I like their depth on bench but after Paul they don't have a consistent guy to take over games for them besides maybe Crawford.
As for the Celtics, I think Garnett is more likely to be gone than Pierce. Unless Paul goes chasing a second ring, I fell he'll stay loyal to Boston and end his career there. Garnett is still solid, especially on defense, but his knees can give out at any moment. Some playoff team will probably be willing to give him a shot to help boost their chances in the postseason.

Jordan had an ego, no denying that, but guys like him, Magic, Bird, etc... never held "decisions" and never held preseason championship parades claiming to win not 1, not 2, not 3, but 7 championships. They never had 5 minute commercials basically rubbing it in the face of fans aboout how cool they are, and they were never seen as "Hollywood Hell" by players and coaches throughout the league.

Paul Pierce has no say over where he goes. He's under contract unless they buy him out, which they arent.
KG could retire, or, he's trade bait too.
Boston writers are saying he might come back.
KG is the first domino, they accept Pierces contract, then chaos.

Not gonna lie, I'm worried about the '13-'14 Celtics season. Doc is gone, I think KG is trade bait and he'll be gone when a deal is made that the NBA approves of. I really hope they don't ship Paul off though. Keep him, he's been there his whole career, let him end his run with the team. And build for the future around Rondo since it's pretty much his team now. I'm worried but I will say I'm gonna go into the season cautiously optimistic.

So checked the Celtics salaries on Hoopshype and thought Pierce was a FA this year but he has one more year. Either way I think hes staying. He can still be effective at times and is a solid veteran to help the younger guys one more year. I feel Garnett is more likely to go if Boston can find a buyer. While the Celtics defense fell apart w/out Garnett on the floor this year, his knees are shot. If the Celtics can get a draft pick or a solid role player for him they'll probably take it.
The Celtics have 3 very good and young players to build around. Rondo (27) is a top point guard in the league and because of his playing style I don't think his game will be affected much by the torn ACL. Avery Bradley (22) became one of the best perimeter and one on one defenders this year and showed signs of a solid offensive game. Jeff Green (26) has health issues but like Bradley, showed signs of promise and potential. The guy is versitile and can play both the SF and PF spots. Rondo and Bradley have played little together over the past 2 years because of injury, but they player well when they were on the floor together. If the Celtics can get all three on the floor and build around them they will have a very solid team going forward. What they need the most though is a center to bang around in the paint for them. Hopefully they can find a decent prospect at #16 in the draft that they can work with.

By all accounts, Jordan was a terrible teammate... he was said to have mellowed out after his first retirement, but even in his late-30s he behaved very poorly as a teammate at almost all times. Divided locker rooms, bullied teammates, called them out publicly often, and did his fair share of ball-hogging. Great, great player but lousy teammate. Jordan is one of my favorite players ever but the way so many people worship him and erase any of his faults is very annoying.

I'm more inclined to take the word of the best coach of all time over a Chicago sports writer who wasn't on the best terms with Jordan. Jordan isn't a saint (he cheated on his wife w/ multiple women) and he was hard on his teammates, but he always made sure they were taken care of like when the GM Jerry Krause was trying to push Phil and Scottie out of the organization during the mid-90s. Hell, Jordan constantly helped keep guys like Horace Grant remain happy when management were trying to lowball them on deals (Grant left for Orlando after Jordan had left for baseball).
