Tough break for OKC. That second round is gonna be brutal for them.

Russell Westbrook hasn't missed a game yet in his NBA career (439 to date, including playoffs), and he doesn't come across to me as the type of guy who would relish time away from the court. I would bet on his return happening sooner rather than later, but his absence will affect the team greatly against either Memphis or Los Angeles in the second round.
I like Houston's chances to steal a game even more so than before in this series, but I don't doubt OKC's preparation and willingness to adjust without Westbrook on the floor. I guess the Thunder will join the rest of us fans in hoping for another seven-game series between the Grizzlies and Clippers. Would be crazy if Westbrook one-upped World Peace and came back to finish the Houston series in a Game 6 or 7.

If Rose thinks the criticism is bad now, imagine how bad it'll be if Westbrook manages to come back in a few weeks if the Thunder last and his injury isn't that bad. I still have no clue how Derrick can look Noah in the eye after watching the amazing efforts Joakim has given on one foot.

What is up with DRose? Does he just not want to play for Chicago or something?

Rose is being smart and jeopardizing the rest of his career coming back too soon. Coming back now would be monumentally stupid in my opinion. Take the off season and get stronger and get confidence in your knee back. It's the smart and best thing to do. I think the criticism is silly.

I wonder if Houston can get past the Thunder now.

Didn't Lin sustain a possibly injury during the game too? Houston might pass them.

Take the off season and get stronger and get confidence in your knee back. It's the smart and best thing to do. I think the criticism is silly. Rose has been medically cleared to play since mid-march. He has been taking part in full contact 5 on 5 practices since then and puts on a dunk show before every game for the Bulls. It has been reported that he is constantly dominating team practices as well. He is healthy enough to play and if he gets injured again, it would have nothing to do with the knee. That has been reported to have healed. The problem is that Rose is mentally weak and has idiots like his brother Reggie making dumb comments on Derrick's behalf that has hurt his reputation. Either he wants to play or make it official that he is shut down for the year. His camp has led the Bulls and the fans on all year and has come off in a negative light because of it. And the fact that it has been reported that Derick is in much, much better shape than Joakim Noah is currently tells the whole story. Noah has literally been playing on one foot while the other is in constant pain for this Nets series yet has not complained once (plantar fasciitis is like knives going through your foot if you take one wrong step). Derrick needs to either announce that he is shurt down for the year or man up. His knee is healthy, and if he gets hurt, it will be a freak accident and not because of his knee.

I do agree that he should have come out a while back and said that he wasn't going to play this year. However, I disagree that him getting hurt would have nothing to do with that knee. Being medically cleared and 100% healed are completely different things. Many basketball players who had the same injury said it was almost 2 years before they felt right and trusted their knee again, and that over compensating for the knee causes other injuries, and that coming back too soon shortened their career. If I were a Bulls fan, I wouldn't want him to come back until next season. The Bulls aren't winning a championship this year, even if he played the next game. I'd much rather he take the extra time to be completely ready for the next season.

Rose and the Bulls both handled this wrong. Anyways, the Celtics make my heart hurt. Worst game I have ever been to. What the happened to a team that got by with grit and balls? They just roll over constantly now.

I'd much rather he take the extra time to be completely ready for the next season. It has nothing to do with winning a championship this year. Playing in games is the final step of his rehab and until he does he will never get back to 100% like he wants to. He basically blew his chance to play in limited minutes this year and will still be on limited minutes to begin next year, something he might have avoided had he played a bit this year. As for getting injured again, multiple doctors have said his knee is healed. The knee may not feel 100% right to Derrick, but no knee is after having a major ACL tear (I tore my ACL in football). Injuries are part of the game and every player is at risk for an injury every second they are on the court. I believe the doctors when they say that if he gets injured again, it will be because of something unrelated to his knee.

I have no qualms with Rose sitting out. I wouldn't come back if I didn't feel comfortable in playing. If you start favoring a part of your body you're susceptible to injuring yourself again. If this was mid-season, I'd say give it a go, but with a month to play? Fuh getta bout it!
