Well, I'm sure most of you guys already know about it but I was just thinkin' so I thought I'd share this bit with you guys.
OK, first off I have been following William Regal since his early days in WCW in the 90s then known as Lord Steven Regal so yeah, I'm a big fan of his. Today, even after the Real Man's Man gimmick and changed his name to William, I just call him Lord Regal as a personal choice around the house and with fans.
This past Monday on Raw Lord Regal fought Fandango in England. Every time he wrestles on TV, JBL (I think Cole talked about it once) says about his feud with Fit Finlay and how they were so brutal, some of the greatest matches in history and how Regal is one of the toughest guys in the WWE, I think back of the Parking Lot Match/Iron Circle Match Lord Regal had with Finlay (then known as The Belfast Bruiser). they had many great matches but this is the best and most memorable one of all IMO.
When this Parking Lot Match aired back in April, 1996 on WCW Monday Nitro on TNT, I was so thrilled and being a later aged teenager back then, stuff like that just wasn't on TV all the time, back in that day, wrestling as we know it today was really only in infant stage IMO. In My area ECW was off the channels (finally came back in My area in 99) and the WWF (WWE) was seriously losing to WCW in the ratings at that time. WCW usually had matches like these especially in 1996. In 96, there was so much wrestling buzz about Diesel & Razor jumping to WCW, HBK & Bret Hart fued starting and more, it was like My favorite wrestling decade of all-time and that was before the Attitude era!
How many of you guys were around during this time? Do you remember when it aired? What did you think about about? For those who just found about it from My post, what do you think bout this history? I'm a history buff and a sucker for nostalgia, I love today's wrestling but the older stuff was so classic.
So, there is some pics below of the Parking Lot Mach for your enjoyment.
