I really don't mind the new look at all. I much rather the text smaller then bigger in any case.

I actually love the way the threads themselves look. I absolutely hate the way the individual boards, look, though. It looks incredibly messy and nothing stands out like it used to. You win some, you lose some, I guess.

I thought I noticed something was different but I suppose I will get used to the new layout, but I must question why both the background and the text are red. I would have gone with a purple/orange combinating.

One thing that will vastly help the look of the boards is changing the color of the bars that separate the posts from the signatures. Just a small suggestion.

I totally respect your opinion, but if you dislike the forum that much stop using it or create your own. The forum is free to use and a tool to the community, so I'm ok with the layout.
It's a pain the ass to keep up with the security requirments, moderation and other aspects of running a site of this size that most don't even realize.
