Isn't this kinda nitpicking? I mean, I can understand someone like the buzzed Punks, but do we need a thread with copious, meticulous research just because Wade and AJ have slightly lighter hair?

Well as long as we don't get something as ridiculous as this we're fine: Hey, what's wrong with that William Regal figure? Oh wait...

hair colour is one thing, but I'm getting pretty tired of the red or black attires figures are coming out with.
It's bad enough out of all the colourful attires Jerry Lawler wore, they chose a black one that was from the recent past - now, with Honky Tonk Man, I think they really made another stellar legend, but would it have killed them to use Baby Blue tights or any other colour he wore?

Shawn Michaels also had funny hair colors for his figure.

I tried restarting a collection buying more colorful attires and 17 of the 20 were black and red on accident. Oops

Forget about hair colors, I wanna know who decides attire colors and why Yankees or Hart tribute Punk wasn't made yet. I remember seeing MDT say that they didn't like Yankees so they're not making that attire, that's just stupid IMO I'm pretty sure that was a joke, they most likely don't have permission (TM issues). Also didn't punk only wear that attire once at NOC 2012? Same goes for Bret Hart one SS 2012 . Mattel said there not going to make attire's he seldomly wears. Id like to present exhibit A to the court regarding one off attired punks. BP macho punk. *Dun dun dunnnnnnnm*

Remember when DM were still being produced Mattel broke down the amount of colors they could use for each lines paint applications to stay within the budget they were given to work with. I don't remember the exact numbers, buy it was something like 3 for basics, 6 for Elites and DM were 9. So if each figure is only allotted a certain amount of colors to keep it in their production budget I'd bet the Hitman attire would exceed the colors. And that could very well be the reason they make the hair black so they don't have to add another color.

The answer is yes as it has been done with BP fig. Now if mattel wants to say they won't do some of these punks due to budgets and limitations of paint apps, then they should say that. Which would in turn make your explanation perfect!

I'm pretty sure they did say it about a Basic when someone mentioned the tribute set with Savage. They said it couldn't be done as a basic set and they wouldn't do Elite styled 2-packs because the price point is too high for retailers to want to carry.
Then they went on to say something about it not being worn enough to justify a regular elite. (or something along those lines)

Hair color has been a funny thing with mattel from the beginning....like the early triple h figures with the weird blonde color, hbk and the ginger hair to sheamus' ketchup hair. I guess its nitpicking but you'd figure some of this stuff would have been a problem of the past by now. If mattel answers anything its always budget. Somethings always too expensive, even though they are the number one selling figure line, they never seem to have enough money. I still think the facial hair and chest hair need the most work. Between the rock's chocolate pudding goatee to all the figures with chest hair that look like fire ants running around their chest.

That's because like most companies today most of their profits goes to the COO and other higher ups pay raises and bonuses. Hell my wife's company has been downsizing for the last two years and according to the news a few months back they are closing the whole Pearl River facility sometime soon yet in the same news report it said the COO had received his raise and annual bonus which was a few million dollars. I'm sure the budget Mattel allocates to the Mattel design teams is the same as it was for the various lines when they took over the WWE license...or not much more.

I feel like instead of giving us real answers sometimes they just use the budget excuse.
