I just picked up a 12" talking Hogan and he's in really good condition but has some usual scuffing on his arm from being played with I'm guessing. whats the best way to get this off? are they casted in the color of there skin tone? how do you guys clean up your used hasbro's?

I used to use a very light scuffing pad, warm water, and soap. I hear Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and similar products do the trick well, too.

I hear Mr. Clean Magic Erasers and similar products do the trick well, too. these do amazingly. i have a 12 inch sting that is basically made the same way as the huge hogan. just don't put too much pressure on it when you clean with one of these. with this product, i have cleaned off galoobs and OSFTM figures. i highly suggest it. it works wonders! |

if you don't wanna buy the magic erasers, which are great btw...i use toothpaste, and a damp rag, it's mildly abrasive and works like a rubbing compound, use only white toothpaste though like regular colgate or similar and only use it on nonpainted parts...
...used this method on hasbros, remcos and ljn, works for em all!!!!

Depending on the type of paint and how hard you scrub, the Magic Eraser will take off paint.

Gah, that makes me cringe. Can you tell what kind of paint they used? It seems like a lot of the "customs" I find at flea markets are made by people who have no idea what they're doing and therefore are done with enamel paint, which never dries on rubber and basically ruins the figure. |

Fallbrawl, I have tried to clean LJN's with the Magic Eraser and it works exceptionally well on the skin tone portions. Red will come off on the pad. It remains red on the figure, but may tone it down slightly. I have not sen any other colors come off on the pad.
If there are any paint flakes, it is like using a sander and it will take them off to smooth off the edges of the flaky area. You may have a slightly larger area with no paint, but it will not have any more flaking after using it.
The Magic Eraser will start to come apart after you have used it awhile. Using it over a sink, assuming you are using water with the pad as I do, you may want to use the plug in the drain so that the pieces of the pad do not go down the drain.

I also don't put too much water on the Magic Eraser. From my experience, too much water makes it come apart quicker |
