To be fair most of his female companions have been that even going back to Susan and Sarah Jane, always getting into situations and needing saving but insisting they're strong.

That's why Mary Tamm quit after one series, because she hated playing the damsel in distress. Susan is still the worst offender.

Seriously was there even an episode where someone didn't capture Susan? Let me run through them quickly and see... An Unearthly Child - Captured by cavemen. The Daleks - Captured by the Daleks. The Edge of Destruction - Captured by the TARDIS' faulty controls. Marco Polo - Captured by bandits. The Keys of Marinus - Captured by the Voord, saved by Arbitan who then captures her, sent on a quest and captured by a big man who lives in a hut, saved, then captured by Ice Soldiers, saved. The Aztecs - Not captured. The Sensorites - Captured by the Sensorites. The Reign of Terror - Captured by the French. Planet of Giants - Not captured. The Dalek Invasion of Earth - Captured by the Daleks. So, out of 10 stories, she was captured in 8 of them.

They thought she was some kind of Goddess and wouldn't let her, The Doctor and the other guy (Ian?) leave Tenotichtilian or however the hell it's spelled.

Susan was kind of sent to a school to learn their ways. The Doctor also gets engaged in that one - by mistake of course...
