Angus, Let's get a couple things clear: 1. I don't like you never have in any of the past 9 years I have frequented these boards. 2. If your so good at customizing where is your current work? 3. Also give constructive criticism, let people know what you like and how to improve the things you don't. Now, that I got that out of the way you never have anything good to say about anyone's work. Yeah I was here when guys like Jay, Rome, Famous, put work out some of that wasn't anything special other things were phenomenal. No knock to any of these guys, I have learned something from each member. Then there were dirt bags like Gate, and import racer who were good but ripped people off. Trust me I speak from experience on both. Import I sent parts to make an RA Diesel and Road Dogg ass never made crap for me. Gate I bought a AJ Styles custom from I sent him the parts and he never sent either. But that's not the point. The point was these members were good had awesome paint apps and produced a lot of good customs but none were not any better than what we have now. This is my BIGGEST gripe about you, for years you produced crap, then you took a few pointers and created some decent stuff such as the recent video's you have been making. No knock on you there. But what I don't like is seeing you bring down so many new customizers and their work. Give them real feedback. I want to see this board alive with quality customs, not everyone is going to be as flawless as some of the Elite customizers. You need to help this newer younger generation do what they do, help them get better. Getting ripped off by Gate and Import made me want to get more in depth in my own custom making skills. Guys like Apoc, GDM, Jay they help new guys like myself giving them any pointers, tips, hell even bouncing custom ideas with. They have all helped me create some good customs. Take it they are no where near flawless but they are good none the less. If your going to continue to frequent the boards let guys ask their silly questions or make posts about "Show me your Custom Crow Sting's". These guys are asking because they need ideas. Responding with "That Sucks" or "I've seen Better" don't help anyone; in fact it makes people not want to post their work. Give people the same kind of respect you want on your customs. I try to help whoever I can whenever I can. My customs I mainly post are used in Gonzo's Tournaments because I want people to see my work, and receive real feedback. If any of this touches a sore spot let's act like grown men and have a custom Battle. Plain and Simple. CrazyWrestler i know, no one does. and no , i agree on the most part. just irritating that people don't read the TOS and post random threads in here.....used to be more organized. i guess i need to not care and let these guy infest the board with questions because evidently cmd wont do anything...and hasn't posted in over a year.... i didn't even bash the guy, i said it was good.....its rare that i say something is good.... all i said was it wasn't amazing or great...it looks good but its not blowing my mind or anything. i rarely say something sucks....most of the time i reply with some criticism like "don't use yellow for blonde" etc. a lot of the newer guys don't know how to take advice or criticism and think that you are insulting them when you say something could be better. like when i told someone not to use yellow for blonde and that his lines could be straighter but it looked ok...they wrote me a pissed off paragraph....not realizing that i actually applauded them in the part i wrote i havnt made a custom since 2010 and i got rid of my parts/paints etc.....and don't plan on making anything new...ever...im done. and yeah gate and import were bungholes....odly though i had 1 successfull trade with gate. titantrap ripped me off though. i sent him a R3 austin and he was supposed to send me a WCW giant figure and he never sent it then said i never sent mine....so i was out a figure and a bad trader tag (with my original account) |

Hey, I agree but I figure you know as long as they aren't bringing up 2 year old posts I'm fine. I really just want to see you take your custom knowledge and help these guys. Some guys can't take it worth crap, but try to use your words to make them sound helpful. For example here is how I would address GDM for his two Sting customs:
GDM, I really like the Starcade 1997 Sting the attire looks great the design looks to be near perfect for that time frame. However, I do not like the head choice so much on the Great American Bash Sting so much. I can't quite pinpoint it. But the attire is very nicely done, love the face paint design, I would suggest trying another head.
Now I know GDM is going to read this and I am aware that those figures are well over a year old, but I told him that I liked them and I also told him what I did not like. If I had a better head choice I would of told him what head I think is a better choice or whatever. I never really want to tell a person they ruined a figure or I've seen better because lets face it We ALL have seen some pretty amazing customs.

crazy wrestler, i like the way you think. i'm in love with GDM's GAB sting, something unique and different, due to it being post match. i love his starrcade '97 one too. molding of the pads were great except shoulder ones could have been smaller. not trying to be a jerk, but TAVG, the way you responded, it did come off as being a jer, no offense. things get said and taken the wrong way, you just have a different way of expressing yourself, nothing wrong with that. off topic, yeah, i saw the 2 customs and it inspired me to use paint and do a mashup the photos. hope i didn't piss GDM off by doing that, LOL. always remember guys, everyone has different opinions on everything!!!

Using peoples ideas is great, I personally would send the original member a message asking questions about the custom and let them know I am thinking about trying it myself. You will be surprised that I have gotten some great help that way. I think the lines got crossed when Deepfreeze used an image that was hand painted by Axe Henning and he got mad and you can't blame him but you can also give that member some credit for the idea.
My thoughts are simple and really easy : KEEP THE CUSTOM BOARD ALIVE. Downplay all negative comments and give people real pointers there are some really awesome members here who are just a private message away.

typically, i can't stand and try not to participate in the back-and-forth attempts at one-upping each other bs that transpires here. but i just want to clarify something. i am 100% in support of actual criticism/critiques of anything i have and will post. i firmly believe that critiques are how we get better at this. and, being that i'm new to this, i have acknowledged multiple times that i have a lot of growing to do with customs. i think in any artform(yes, i think this is an artform), the growing/learning never ends.
with that said, when i read something like "you like that custom? you must not have seen too many customs, then", the inference is that the custom referenced isn't any good. and that's fine. i have absolutely no problem with people disliking my stuff(I dislike the majority of my stuff). the problem is when that's ALL that's said. "that sucks" or any variation thereof isn't helpful and Chocolate Shark like that is why the custom board is dead. well, that and everyone posts their stuff in the main matty forum(something i still don't understand). the point is, if you have nothing meaningful to contribute, keep your "mouth" shut. don't post.
i'll be the first to acknowledge that the gab sting i did sucks. i hate every single thing about it. not that i'm looking for excuses, but it was my 4th custom so i'll give myself a break. and i think i've since improved. i appreciate the kind words said, though. gab(and all stings i make) uses a shrunken jakks tna surfer sting head. i don't know what's missing from the head, but something IS off. but whatever. it's over a year old and is borderline irrelevant.

I represented my college at the National Trust for Historic Preservation National Conference in Spokane Washington last October. most people like me, i am known for being a nice guy, and i am very easy to get along with in person.. and if you are going to bring up the bad trader tag, i got it from goldust because someone backed out on me on ebay so i had to back out of buying a dvd from him. i didnt rip anyone off or steal anything. i even told him i was waiting on money from ebay before we agreed to trade, and he tagged me anyways...in 2010. |

Those Sting figures are magnificent. I don't make figures, but I've seen MANY customs and can attest to the quality of those pieces. I can only imagine the amount of work that goes into those figures. It looks like a shrunken head that the character iknowshannonmoore/knlimper use.
I know I don't customize, but if my skills weren't up to par with someone else's I surely wouldn't criticize their work.
