Pretty cool little story. A fast food employee is being lauded by police for his fast thinking after foiling a robbery at a Burger King in Stockton, Calif. As two hamburlgars stormed the restaurant brandishing guns and demanding cash, an employee snuck out a back door, according to KOVR-TV in Sacramento. The employee found the thieves' idling getaway vehicle in the parking lot, hopped in and drove off, stashing the car around the block. "I haven't heard of any employee actually leaving a business, getting inside the suspect vehicle and trying to hide it," Stockton officer Joe Silva told reporters. When the thieves realized their car had been taken, then took off on foot and hid in a nearby field. Police soon found the two suspects, Gabriel Gonzalez and Jeremy Lovitt, and arrested them. They've been charged with armed robbery.gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/burger-king-employee-foils-robbery-stealing-thieves-getaway-191035044.html

Wouldn't the employee get arrested for grand theft auto? This makes no sense whatsoever for someone to steal a car and not get arrested

I'm calling it. These robbers will press charges against the BK employee for "stealing" their car.
Only in America could/will this happen.

While I think what he did was decent and it's good that it lead to the guys being caught, I could actually see him being disciplined at work. Pretty much all companies tell their employees to just give them what they want, the employees lives are more important than the money in the tills.
What if the robbers went out, saw their car was gone, and went back in and shot the place up?

It's great that what he did was successful, but what if it wasn't? He would've been shot and killed along with probably everyone else in the store. The dude had a great plan for such short notice, but it was a little too risky in my opinion.

Technically he did commit a crime to stop another crime He left the car around the block. He commited a crime to stop two acutal criminals. The only reason he would ever do something like that is for the greater good. He should not be punished.

I can't believe there are actually people saying that the guy who foiled to armed robbers should be punished.
It's technically a crime to whoop somebody's ass, but if a guy comes up to you with a knife and you kick their ass, why should you be punished?

People that think any charges against the employee would stick don't understand criminal law.

Getting shot for money that isn't mine? I think I'll save the heroics for the burning house with the baby in it.
