Hi guys! I just finished my custom ESR ring! One part that was changed is on the ring apron you can see staples which looked really ugly so I took the staples off and use Velcro instead. Enjoy! Leave your opinion please!

Alright first I'm going to tell you, it looks good to be a custom ring. Second I'm going to tell you it needs a lot of work. See what I don't understand is, you go through all of the work. The process of measuring, building, and painting, and fabrication yet when you get to the finish you just throw some cloth and electric tape on it and call it a day. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of building it? It's suppose to look like a pro wrestling ring not something you built to wrestle with your buddies in the back yard. Look up some tutorials on you tube on how to build turnbuckle padding and how to properly attach a ring skirt. These are easy and effective and I promise it won't cost you more than five dollars in USD to do.

Yeah I know. It was my first ring.

I'm not trying to be Rude (no pun intended) I just want you to succeed in your project and it's honestly how I feel about it. I've built two, and I had the hardest time coming up with turnbuckle padding but I cut squares of foam padding and used small staples (you couldn't see them, they are called mini staples) and attached them that way. Also Iron your ring mat and canvas ( do not burn it though) it will make it more professional for it all to be streamline and smooth rather than a Indy production style of canvas.

Thanks for the tips! Can you give me a good link to making turnbuckle pads? BTW I'll try the ironing thing. How many seconds should I iron it for so it doesn't get burnt?

That's a really cool ring. I always tried to make custom rings back in the day, but eventually due to the ropes the posts always caved in. Now I just use the actual Mattel ESR and I'm really happy with it.

I'm pretty happy with this ring I made because since I animate with it and I made it comfortable for my elbows when I move the figures too.

I would say only a few seconds, don't leave it in one spot either or it will burn it.

Thats a pretty cool design man. The skirt needs work, but fabric is a pain to work with. If you want to have better turnbuckle pads, all you need is some soft foam. Cut them in rectangles about 3" long and 1" wide (use your own discretion as to how big they are) and fold it from top to bottom over the turnbuckles. then use a strip of double sided velcro to hold it tightly in place. Looks like this C=[] (C is pad, = is turnbuckle/velcro, [] is post) You could use Tape, but the velcro will let you take them off and put them back on with ease. I hope this helps.
