Ok, so first off, I just want to say that this is all speculation, so bear with me. Now if it's true, then I will be one happy guy, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Anyway, so I was browsing ebay about 2 days ago for different elites I missed out on in the past and stumbled upon an auction for a Magnum TA headsculpt proto/testshot. I decided to check it out and looked at the description....now the seller didnt mention how he came to get this piece, BUT he did add to "check out my other auctions for a 1 of 1 hand painted Doink"
Well, I marked out and quickly looked at his "other items for sale". He had a few other wrestlers, nothing out of the ordinary EXCEPT a Jeff Hardy headsculpt proto/test shot also...but alas, NO Doink. Being the huge Doink fan I am, I decided to email the seller to get some info and ask if it was a mattel and if it was for sale yet. He replied the next day and said "I've received a few offers for it, so I might not list it now"
I told him that I would be interested in the piece and to let me know what he's looking for....well, he never answered me back so I guess he found a buyer.
However! This could be potentially great news for those of us that want a Doink, seeing as how mattel (ALLEGEDLY) created an entire proto and worked on the paint schemes. Then again, it could also be bad news...what if mattel got that far with the proto, and for some reason dropped the figure?
Now again, this is all speculation and it is after all an ebay seller who didn't have ANY pictures so take it with a grain of salt. Then again, the seller DID have the Hardy and Magnum proto's to his credit, so take from it what you will. Maybe posting this was stupid in the first place, but I wanted to inform my fellow collectors.
Now, if MDT wanted to be so kind as to shed a 'lil light on this subject, well then I could stop freaking out as to the fate of my most requested figure since this line began!
