I've had a lot of crazy finds, but my favorite was ALL-STAR Jake "The Snake" Roberts at a used toy store for $3! Also found an E3 Miz there for $3 as well.
I've scored huge on Craigslist twice.
(1) In my home town. Got 26 Mattel 2010 basic, an E8 Regal, and a break down ring with Big Show. All MOC and all for $50.
(2) In the town with the toy shop, a guy had over 75 used Mattel figures, 18 of them elites, a few TNA, a bunch of stands, name tags, cards, and weapons all for $60...... Guy had won a storage unit, all he wanted was a hung end expresso machine, I got real lucky on that!

I live in the middle of nowhere so I tend to see more older figures (or did until I bought them all). I guess the craziest would be the following:
Most recently I found an Elite 5 Chavo Guerrero at Fred Meyer about 4 weeks ago, picked it up. They also had E5 Swagger with the singlet on in the package. I know of two other Fred Meyers which also still have Swagger with the singlet on. Found a B6 Kelly Kelly about 6 months ago at CVS, bought, sold on ebay for 40. Found an E9 Zack Ryder at Walmart near my house on Superbowl Sunday of this year. Bought, sold for 50 on Ebay.
The nearest Toys R Us STILL has E5 Swagger and Kozlov, Basic 2 Kozlov, and some of the first Royal Rumble series (the series with purple Cody Rhodes and Beth Phoenix).
Less recent: Around the time E10 was hitting I saw nearly all of E4 at a KMart in Salt Lake City Utah. I would almost drive the 12 hours to pick it up just for the ride, but they must be gone by now.

I found two Honky Tonk Man's at Walmart. I bought the first one, left, then came back for the second.
Also found the Elite 7 DX Set (HBK, HHH, Swoggle) at Walmart in there DVD section, I was stoked!
