-- According to sources, Colt Cabana recently had two tryouts with WWE. The tryouts were set up by his friend CM Punk and were for a color commentator position.

I was expecting it to be a wrestling tryout before I clicked on the thread, but a commentator role? That would be awesome. I like what he's doing at the moment though regarding AoW, so hopefully that wouldn't interfere with that if he were to get it.

His wrestling style is great, but I'm not sure it would work in WWE. That being said, he is an amazing talker who would thrive as a commentator I believe. He seems to have had the most success of his career as a podcaster, so why not make a nice paycheck using his talking talents in WWE? I hope it goes well  |

I really really hope he gets this role. He does commentary for $5 wrestling. Some of the worst wrestling I've seen in the ring, but his and marty's commentary has me LOLing so it was a great buy.

Holy , I hope this is true. I would love to see him back with the WWE in any capacity--as a commentator would be great. Could you imagine him and Punk on commentary together? |

But if he was hired, he wouldn't be able to bitch and complain about getting fired from WWE, which is like 90% of his shtick on AOW!

That would actually be sweet honestly.
If they ever wanted to give him another shot at being an In-Ring Competitor, I think he would fit in well with the roster (and be named Scotty Goldman again.... lol). He would be like a better Santino. Or even a tad bit like Daniel Bryan in Team Hell No (gets the job done in the ring with maybe a few comedic spots, and is involved with funny promos backstage).

It'd be nice for the guy to get back into WWE. He isn't gonna make it as a wrestler there, he's basically just a poor man's Santino with some World of Sport tricks, but as a SmackDown commentator... Maybe? I know he rubbed a lot of people the wrong way before, most of the legends can't stand him. Don't know if that will work against him. It's cool that Punk keeps trying to get him in there, but Punk's been a top guy making demands for two years now -- if he still hasn't been able to get Colt a job yet, that says something about Colt.

Assuming he's been trying. He's been trying. Everyone knows this. Cabana has talked about it several times. You mean because CM Punk, on his own DVD, managed to get his best friend talking? Several DVD documentaries have had friends and relatives of the performer on them. That doesn't mean that WWE thinks Mick Foley's childhood neighbour is World Championship material, or that they're bringing in Randy Orton's wife to be the next Divas Champion. Because he's a poor man's Santino. If Santino leaves, maybe they'll give Cabana a try. But Cabana's very much a smalltime comedy wrestler, what works for 50 people in a barn might not work for 12000 people at Monday Night Raw. |
