JANUARY 3RD, 1999 - THE CENTRUM IN WORCESTER, MA
The WWF signature graces the screen, followed by the Sunday Night HeAT opening music video.
To kick off the show, The Corporation are in the ring in full force. Mr. McMahon begins to address being Superkicked by Shawn Michaels at the end of last weeks episode of RAW, where he calls Michaels a "washed-up, low-life, coward", even calling him "H.B.K., the Has-Been Kid"! He then goes on to say that his son, Shane has been deeply traumatized due to the heinous attack he suffered at the hands of Mankind. The camera pans out to show Shane, who nods his head in agreement. It is at this point that Mr. McMahon is interrupted by the theme music of D-Generation X as Triple H, Chyna, X-Pac and The New Age Outlaws make their way out onto the stage. Triple H has a microphone in hand and informs Mr. McMahon, along with the entire world, that he has spoke with his old friend, Shawn Michaels within the past couple of days and that Michaels has said he will in fact be at RAW tomorrow night, and he that he has some news for Vince! Triple H hints that Michaels may be reuniting with DX. While Shane screams "He doesn't work here anymore!", Vince says that Michaels doesn't scare him, and neither does DX. Road Dogg is handed the microphone and challenges The Rock to a match after Rock's interference in Road Dogg's Hardcore title defense against Mankind last Monday. Road Dogg claimed he didn't want to win "like that" (Mankind had Road Dogg beat after an Elbow Drop through a table near the stage area. Before he could make the cover, Rock delivered a Rock Bottom to Mankind.) Billy Gunn challenged Ken Shamrock for the Intercontinental title, saying that he won't leave Shamrock alone until he gets what he wants. Rock tells Road Dogg to shove his Hardcore title in a dark place, to put it nicely, and said that the WWF Champion has bigger and better things to do with his time, in which Vince agrees. Shamrock seems ready for a fight, but rather than allowing Shamrock to put the Intercontinental title on the line against Billy Gunn, Vince decides that tonight's main event will be a tag team match pitting the WWF Tag Team Champions, Ken Shamrock and Big Bossman against The New Age Outlaws! The crowd loves the announcement that they just heard, but begin to "boo" a little when Vince adds that the titles will not be on the line tonight.
Animal and Droz are making their way down to the ring for tag team action. They enter the ring and pose on parallel corners of the ring. The crowd pops nicely when they hear the theme music of Jeff Jarrett, knowing that where Jeff goes...Debra will be right there with him. The fans were hot on the "Nugget!" chants tonight, directed at Owen Hart.
Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett def. Animal & Droz via pinfall in 7:22. Great opener here, with all four men getting a chance to shine their offence. Owen and Jarrett kept Animal isolated on their side of the ring for the opening portion of the bout, then a communication between Owen and Jarrett resulted in Jarrett being on the receiving end of an Ax Handle Smash from Owen, allowing Animal to make the hot tag. Droz came in with both guns blazing and cleaned house. Debra got on the ring apron and distracted Droz by allowing him to grab her rear end, which gave Owen enough time to recover and hit Droz with an Enzuguri, but when Owen went for the cover, Droz managed to get his foot on the bottom rope at the count of two. Shortly after, Animal was tagged back in to the match and it was at this point that Hawk showed up on the stage, steering Animal's attention away from the match long enough for Owen to roll him up for a three count.
Animal got up looking stunned, looking up at Hawk, who turned his back and walked backstage.
A graphic is shown for tonight's main event; a non-title tag team bout featuring Ken Shamrock and Big Boss Man versus the New Age Outlaws. On commentary, Shane McMahon says that the Outlaws don't stand a chance, while Kevin Kelly remains impartial for the most part, saying that the Tag Team Champions have some pretty serious competition tonight.
Dennis Knight, who was kidnapped by The Acolytes on RAW, is shown somewhere in a dark area, in the rain, hanging from chains, screaming for help.
Backstage, Tiger Ali Singh is trying to educate The Oddities in geography, showing them his homeland on a globe. Golga is rather pre-occupied eating Cheesey Poofs, Giant Silva is off in space somewhere and Kurrgan seems to be more intrigued that the globe spins.
We see all four male members of D-Generation X backstage in their locker room. They all slap hands with Triple H before he walks out of the room, as he is in action up next.
Triple H def. Mark Henry via pinfall in 6:56. Henry's superior strength allowed him to start the match on the offensive, but it was only a couple minutes before Chyna walked out onto the stage, stopping at the top of the ramp. Henry became distracted and more worried about trying to impress Chyna than he was worried about keeping Triple H neutralized. Triple H won with the Pedigree.
The Headbangers cut a promo backstage going on about being the self-proclaimed "Tag Team Champions of the Universe", basically saying they are the greatest thing to ever hit the WWF and they rule the world.
Val Venis def. Christian via pinfall in 6:11. Gangrel and Edge were in Christian's corner during the match, but were ejected from ringside during the middle of the match after the referee saw Gangrel trip Venis as he bounced off of the ropes. Val picked up the three count after splashing Christian with the Money Shot.
Immediately after the bell rings, the lights begin flickering red and eerie music starts to play. The arena goes black for about fifteen seconds, and when the lights come back on, Val Venis is standing at the bottom of the ramp covered in red liquid. Val has been Bloodbathed by the Brood!
The New Age Outlaws def. Big Boss Man & Ken Shamrock via pinfall in a non-title match in 8:49. The crowd was red hot for tonight's main event. The New Age Outlaws dominated the match, forcing Shamrock and Boss Man to take a "time out" and rethink their approach on two occasions. After the second time, getting back in the ring, Shamrock ducked a clothesline from Road Dogg, turned around and delivered a German Suplex, holding on to the Waistlock, and then delivering a second one. Shamrock then began to work over Road Dogg's right ankle. Shortly after, Shane McMahon left the announce table and while Boss Man distracted the referee, Shane tried to toss Boss Man's nightstick to Shamrock, but it was intercepted by Mr. Ass, who clubbed Shamrock across the head with it, then planted him with a Fame-Ass-Er. Road Dogg prevented Boss Man from making the save while Mr. Ass covered Shamrock for the three count.
The show goes off the air with The New Age Outlaws celebrating their win as the Tag Team Champions retreat up the ramp. The champions yelled that "they would never get these", pointing at their titles.

 JANUARY 4TH, 1999 - THE CENTRUM IN WORCHESTER, MAA video showing Mr. McMahon firing Shawn Michaels, with Michaels responding with a Sweet Chin Music plays to kick off the show, then the cameras cut to the arena, where we see Mr. McMahon making his way down to the ring, followed by the entire Corporation. They all enter the ring and Patterson hands a microphone to Mr. McMahon.Vince began talking about Shawn Michaels, saying that he doesn't have the testicular fortitude to show up tonight on RAW, despite vowing to appear. Vince then called Shawn a coward, and said that he fired Michaels to make an example. At this point, Michaels appears on the TitanTron, walking backstage headed towards the stage.
“Sexy Boy” hits and Michaels walks out on to the stage. Michaels informs Mr. McMahon that the sheriff is back in town, and this time he has brought the cavalry with him...The DX theme music hits and Triple H, X-Pac, The New Age Outlaws and Chyna join Michaels on the stage. Michaels informs Mr. McMahon and the entire world that he is in fact still the commissioner of the WWF, citing that his contract is "iron clad", and says that Vince himself told him that he had to answer to no one, including Vince. Michaels says the only way the he is going away is if he resigns. Michaels then informs Vince that, as he is aware, he has control over all WWF competitors, except for “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and that upon Vince McMahon entering the Royal Rumble Match, he is now a WWF competitor, therefore Michaels has control over Vince! The Royal Rumble holds a WWF Championship shot at the grandest event of them all, and there are only thirty prestigious spots. Michaels said he believes that a spot in the Royal Rumble should not go to the owner of the company; someone who has not been an active wrestler as of late, but rather to those who have earned it, and Mr. McMahon never qualified for the Rumble, but Austin did. Michaels is willing to give McMahon the chance to qualify though...At the Royal Rumble pay per view, he will face "Stone Cold" Steve Austin one on one where if Mr. McMahon is victorious, he can claim the #30 spot in the Royal Rumble that he thought he deserved. Finally, Michaels informs Vince that sometime tonight he will have a surprise for him…a surprise that will be “Stone Cold crazy”!
Michaels walks to the back as “Sexy Boy” plays again. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are discussing what just went down while the Corporation are deliberating in the ring. Cole and Lawler tell us that tonight Road Dogg will defend the WWF Hardcore title against Mankind in a rematch from last week, as per request from the champion. Plus, X-Pac will defend the WWF European title against the Corporate Enforcer, Test!
Steve Blackman def. Ken Shamrock via pinfall in a non-title match in 8:35. Tonight's opening match featured two extremely talented martial artists showcasing their kicking abilities and submission skills, both offensively and defensively. MMA legend (and the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion, although this was not mentioned), Dan Severn came to ringside during the match, still in a neck brace due to an injury sustained at the hands of Owen Hart back in September. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler mention how Severn appeared last week and cost Owen Hart his match, before talking about the history between Shamrock and Severn in both the WWF and UFC. After merely observing for a few minutes, Severn climbs up on the ring apron, causing a distraction for the referee, allowing Billy Gunn to come charging down the ramp and lay out Shamrock with a Fame-Ass-Er and rolled Blackman on top of Shamrock before the referee finished dealing with Severn. The WWF ReWind presented by 10-10-2-20 replays the finish of the Shamrock versus Blackman match, where Billy Gunn interfered and drilled Shamrock with the Fame-Ass-Er. The cameras then cut to Billy Gunn and Ken Shamrock brawling backstage, with officials and agents trying to pull them apart. Billy Gunn is determined to get his hands on Shamrock for the Intercontinental title!Mankind came down to the ring and cut a promo about his new hobbies over the last couple of weeks, including saying "Suck It!" without having to say "please" infront; and kicking the McMahon's asses. Mankind says that he deserves to be the number one contender for the WWF title at the Royal Rumble not only because he has already beat The Rock, but of addresses signs in the crowd that read "Foley Is God", saying "Foley is not God, but he is pretty damn good!". He calls out Mr. McMahon and asks him to make him the number one contender. Vince steps out onto the stage and tells Mankind that he had his chance and if he would have listened, he could have been WWF Champion. McMahon told Mankind that he hasn't paid his dues, and that performing for the roar of the crowd was pathetic, in which Mankind disagreed. Mankind will not be wrestling for the WWF title at the Royal Rumble, but he is given a Royal Rumble qualifying match with Triple H later tonight. Mr. McMahon adds the stipulation that his son, Shane will be the special guest referee, before telling Mankind to "Have a nice day!" before walking backstage.
"What does everybody want? HEAD!" Al Snow came to the ring carrying a metal garbage can that contained a baseball bat, a kendo stick and a street sign, to name a few. Snow grabbed a microphone and declared himself "The King of Hardcore" and issued two challenges; one for a WWF Hardcore title match against Road Dogg this Sunday night on HeAT, and another where he challenged anyone else to come fight him in a Hardcore match right now. Unexpectedly, Snow's challenge is answered by the infamous Brooklyn Brawler!
Al Snow def. Brooklyn Brawler via pinfall in 3:11. Snow put a beating on the Brooklyn Brawler, barely giving him any room to make an offensive move, Snow viciously hit the Brawler with everything but the kitchen sink in just over three minutes. After chair shots, kendo stick lashings, being sprayed with a fire extinguisher and hit over the head a few times with a road sign, Snow picked up the win after delivering a Moonsault on Brawler, who's head was stuffed in a garbage can, sending him though a table. Kevin Kelly is backstage, about to conduct an interview with the WWF Woman's Champion, Sable, when she is suddenly tackled by a crazed Luna Vachon, who begins trying to pound Sable's head into the concrete as security rushes to separate them.X-Pac © def. Test via DQ to retain to the WWF European Championship in 7:23. Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco accompanied Test to the ring and got involved in the match on a number of different occasions. X-Pac's quickness worked in his favor in the opening moments of the match, able to elude Test's attacks and strike with combinations of kicks and chops. X-Pac made his way up to the top rope, attempting a Cross Body Block, but Test caught him in his arms and delivered a Fall Away Slam! Test began working over X-Pac's back, hitting him with a Sidewalk Slam followed by a Backbreaker, before tossing him outside of the ring and distracting the referee so that Patterson and Brisco could stomp the champion. They picked him up and rolled him back into the ring and Test picked him up and went for a Pump Handle Slam, but X-Pac countered by sliding off of Test's shoulder. X-Pac hit the ropes and fired back with a Spinning Heel Kick that knocked Test into the corner. X-Pac called for the Bronco Buster and began getting fired up, but Patterson and Brisco came into the ring, taking X-Pac down and began punching and stomping him, giving the referee no choice but to call for the bell. Patterson and Brisco held X-Pac up each by an arm and told Test to "kick his head off". The New Age Outlaws and Triple H came running down to the ring, forcing Test and "The Associates" to quickly retreat.
D-X is at the backstage interview location, where Triple H and X-Pac challenge Test and another Corporate member for a match on HeAT, and Road Dogg accepts Al Snow's challenge for Hardcore title match as well.
In a dark room somewhere, Dennis Knight is hanging from chains, still screaming for help. The Acolytes come into the picture and free Knight from the chains, telling him "It's time. He is ready for you.", and dragging him away.
Mark Henry makes his way down to the ring, ready for action against Goldust. Meanwhile, at ringside, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler question what exactly they just saw occur between Dennis Knight and The Acolytes.Mark Henry def. Goldust via DQ in 5:28. Henry controlled most of the match, with Goldust getting spurts of offense throughout the contest, where he primarily focused on working over Henry's legs, trying to take down the big man. Chyna came out onto the stage again, as she did last night on HeAT, but this time she had another woman with her. Henry became distracted again, allowing Goldust to recover and drop Henry with an inverted DDT. Goldust then played to the crowd, asking if they wanted to see Shattered Dreams, in which they cheered. Goldust got himself intentionally disqualified after delivering the Shattered Dreams, then out of the ring and headed back up the ramp with a smile on his face. Chyna and her friend are in the ring helping Mark Henry back up to his feet. Chyna grabs a microphone and tells Mark that she had a great time on their date last week, but doesn't think that she is enough of a woman for him, so she brought a friend. She introduces Mark to her friend, Sammy, and proposes that Mark could "take on" the both of them. Henry smiles, almost like a child on Christmas morning, then Chyna suddenly kicks him straight in the groin! Chyna smirks as her and Sammy leave the ring and walk back up the ramp.Triple H def. Mankind via fast count w/Shane McMahon as the Special Guest Referee in 8:20. It was obvious from moment this match was announced earlier tonight that the McMahon's were out to screw Mankind in this Royal Rumble qualifying match, and both competitors knew it, but with a spot in the Royal Rumble on the line, they gave it their all. Shane tried to act as an impartial referee at first, keeping the speed of his counts equal for both men, although fairly slow compared to the standard. After a Double Arm DDT, Mankind had Triple H beat even with Shane's slow counting, but Shane refused to count the three. Mankind grabbed Shane by the shirt, but Triple H rolled up him with a School Boy and Shane quickly counted Mankind's shoulders to the mat! After the match, Triple H appologizes to Mankind, telling him that he respects him, but nothing is going to come between him and the WWF title. He thanks Shane McMahon, then tells Mankind "Happy New Year!", as he kicks Shane in the mid-section and delivers a Pedigree and tells Mankind that Shane is all his, before leaving the ring. Mankind locks Shane in a submission hold, threatening to break his shoulder. Vince comes down the isle with Patterson and Brisco, yelling "Let him go!". Mankind says that he doesn't want a title shot at the Royal Rumble anymore, but he wants a title shot tonight! Mr. McMahon agrees to Mankind's demand, but it's not good enough for Mankind. He then demands that the match be held with no count outs and no disqualifications. Mr. McMahon has no choice in order to save his son. On their way back up the ramp, The Rock comes walking out arguing with Mr. McMahon and even says he doesn't have his gear with him. Mr. McMahon responds by telling him "You're a champion, damn it! Go get ready!"
Before their match, The Godfather offered D'Lo Brown a night on the town with the hoes instead of having a match, but D'Lo respectfully declined.
D'Lo Brown versus The Godfather went to a no contest at 6:05. During a well-matched bout, Jacqueline and a pregnant Terri Runnels, who have had issues with D'Lo in the past few weeks, came down to the ring. Terri got on the ring apron and unknowingly, D'Lo bounced off of the ropes and knocked Terri off the apron and down to the floor. Terri was crying and screaming, fearing for her unborn baby's life, as she was attended to by EMT's and referees. D'Lo looked incredibly distraught and couldn't take his focus off of Terri, not believing what he had done. Rather than obtaining himself a quick victory, Godfather seized fighting and tried to calm D'Lo. Shawn Michaels is shown walking out of the building. Kevin Kelly catches up to the commissioner and asks where he is going, in which he responds saying that he will be back with Mr. McMahon's "Stone Cold Surprise". Michaels goes to unlock the door of a car in the parking lot, but to no avail. He walks back towards the building but the door had already shut and locked. Before he can knock on the door, a voice yells "Hey Shawn!". Michaels turns around, looking frightened as the show cuts to a commercial break.
After the break, we see Shawn Michaels being attended to by EMT's after he had been attacked and bloodied, thrown through a car windshield. The footage of what happened during the break is shown, but the camera man was knocked down early, so the attack could only be heard, not seen. What we did see was Big Boss Man, Ken Shamrock and Test take down the commissioner. At ringside, Jerry Lawler and Michael Cole both agree that it was Corporate members they saw attacking the commissioner, and said that The Corporation have crossed the line. Cole asked if this was the dismemberment of Shawn Michaels that Mr. McMahon had promised as the shattered windshield is shown once again.
A quick video was shown of The Acolytes dragging Dennis Knight through a dark hallway that featured flaming torches sticking out of the walls.
Mankind makes his entrance for tonight's main event, and his shot at the WWF Championship, receiving a loud pop from his home-state crowd. The Rock, who is dressed in black workout pants and shirt, along with the entire Corporation enter the arena next, heavily booed by fans. Just before the referee is about to signal to ring the bell, D-X's music hits and they all make their way to the ring as well to be in the corner of Mankind, who they have somewhat adopted into the D-X family over the past couple of weeks.
Mankind def. The Rock © via pinfall to win the WWF Championship in 14:53. With D-Generation X and the Corporation both in full-force at ringside, this match was either bound to be fought fair and square or melt down to sheer chaos. The Rock started off with a series of punches, knocking Mankind out of the ring and to the floor, surrounded by The Corporation. Rock followed after, and Shamrock made a move towards Mankind, but Rock told him to back off. After a couple of punches to Mankind up against the guardrail, Rock grabbed him and headed towards towards the announce table where he went to smash Mankind's head into the table, but Mankind reversed it on the champion. Mankind started hammering away on The Rock, then attempted an Irish Whip, but Rock reversed it and sent Mankind into the steel ring steps. Telling The Corporation to stay back again, Rock picked up the top of piece of the ring steps and drilled Mankind in the back. He positions the steps on Mankind's head, grabs the bottom piece of the steps and drops them onto Mankind! The fight moves to the other side of the ring, still on the outside, where Rock delivers a suplex right in front of the announce table. Rock takes a seat with Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler and begins cutting a mid-match promo. Mankind jumps over the announce table, taking down Rock, punching and choking him. Mankind grabs the headset and begins putting himself over when Rock clubs him in the back of the head with the ring bell, then begins choking him with a cable on the announce table. Rock climbs on the announce table and picks up Mankind, driving him through the announce table with a Rock Bottom! Rock picks him up and rolls him back into the ring and goes for the cover but only gets a two count. Mankind starts to fight back, but Rock cuts him off with a Samoan Drop. They battled back and forth, trading punches with Rock reversing an Irish Whip and connecting with a Spinebuster, following it up with a Corporate Elbow, but Mankind kicked out at two! Big Boss Man held on to Mankind's leg as he hit the ropes, while Test tossed the WWF title belt to The Rock. A title belt to the skull only gave Rock a two count, so he went for it again, but Mankind ducked, kicked him the mid-section and dropped him with a Double Arm DDT on the WWF title. Mankind pulled out Mr. Socko as the crowd began to roar. When Rock reached his feet, he met Mr. Socko, who brought him back down to the mat and almost out. But it was Ken Shamrock who charged into the ring with a steel chair, smacking Mankind across the back which caused Billy Gunn to go after Shamrock, and within seconds a brawl had broken out between The Corporation and D-X. Glass shatters and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's music hits as he marches down to the ring in street clothes. Austin picks up the chair while Rock is staggering back up to his feet, only to get clocked with the chair right between the eyes! Austin dragged Mankind on top of Rock and referee, Earl Hebner made the three count to crown a new WWF Champion! Mankind celebrates his first WWF Championship victory with D-X, as Triple H and Road Dogg lift him up onto their shoulders and he holds the title high. Mr. McMahon has a look of disbelief on his face, almost looking as if he is about to cry, screaming "Not him! No!" as the Corporation heads up the ramp. Mankind continues his celebration, giving a shout-out to his children at home, then running around the ring and holding up the title to close the show. |

i really don't mind the same angle for this same RAW, some twists though. Really looking forward for the Austin/Mcmahon match at the Royal Rumble. I see Mcmahon winning with some Corporation Intereference, Mankind as World Wrestling Federation Champion. I wonder if your'e going to make Mankind's rematch with The Rock A I Quit Match or some sort of gimmick match like either Steel Cage or No Holds Barred. I think I Quit would be something to see again, And what about Dennis Knight being abducted by the Acolytes, That signals The Undertaker being here. Here's hoping you put Undertaker in the Royal Rumble Match, they didn't put him in that match in real life but that would be a good choice for him being in the Rumble Match and eventually he will be unstoppable in that match. Good Luck with this man.

WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 4th January 1999...Alright, this looks really appealing to me. I'm hoping you do a lot with this, this could be big. Shawn Michaels kicking off the show was good, as the Commissioner begins to move forward with his face turn, siding with D-Generation X here. Hmm, Stone Cold Steve Austin against Vince McMahon for the #30 spot in the Royal Rumble? That sounds fine to me. It's different, in any event. I'm surprised that there wasn't more to that promo, like a reaction to his announcement from Vince or any other member of the Corporation; keep in mind that back in 1999, opening promos spanned from 10 minutes to 30. Good opening contest with Steve Blackman getting a surprising win against Ken Shamrock. How is this a non-title match? Shamrock is a WWF Tag Team Champion, not a singles champion. Nice research fact with Shamrock also being the reigning NWA World Heavyweight Champion. I see that you are resuming the feud with Billy Gunn and Shamrock, there is no problem with this. I liked Dan Severn's inclusion, and I'm expecting a feud between Shamrock and Severn. I am hoping it doesn't last too long though, 1999 should have seen the rise of Shamrock through the ranks of the WWF roster. Nice detail points with 10-10-2-20 being the sponsor for the WWF ReWind. Al Snow defeating the Brooklyn Brawler was fine, you should have mentioned that this was ironic, since Snow is a part of the JOB Squad here. Up next, X-Pac retaining the WWF European Championship against Test was fine, nothing wrong with that. I liked Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco's antics in trying to cost X-Pac the title. Dennis Knight is being sacrificed tonight by the Ministry of Darkness, I imagine. Racy angles galore~! Mark Henry defeating Goldust was what it was, not that interesting as one could expect. Ha, the intentional disqualification series with Goldust embarking upon using the Shattered Dreams as a finisher. Chyna and Mark's storyline is quite strange to me. Ha, Sammy? Oh that's funny, another low blow for Mizark. I think Sammy should have delivered the second groin shot, though. Triple H with a win against Mankind, hmm. I like the storyline idea, with Vince McMahon desperately trying to screw Mankind out of everything possible. I don't care what anybody says, Shane McMahon is such a good referee. I see this follows real life, as it begins to set up the WWF Championship no-disqualification match later tonight with Mankind and The Rock. I was hoping you would embark upon a different route, but this works well anyhow. D-Lo Brown and the Godfather fighting to a no contest was okay. Blech, pregnancy scares for Terri. I'm not that interesting. Six minutes for Brown and Godfather is frighteningly long, too. I think you should reconsider match lengths honestly, matches on RAW is WAR that weren't the opening contest, first hour main event or proper main event would average 1-5 minutes, unless it actually serves big time significence. Shawn Michaels got jumped, okay. I expect that the Corporation did it, and they did. Ha. I wonder if we will hear from Shawn Michaels again soon. Where did the transformation of Dennis Knight into Mideon go? It ended with a dark hallway with no followup...And lastly, you followed up with the real life happening of Mankind putting butts in seats and winning the WWF Championship from The Rock. Practically following real life, at this point. Overall, a strong edition of RAW to kick off the year, but I'm hoping that you can begin to deviate from real life occurrences in the coming weeks, most likely after the Royal Rumble. Nice start. This has potential.

JANUARY 10TH, 1999 - FREEMAN COLISEUM IN SAN ANTONIO, TX
The WWF signature is played, then a video package is shown highlighting The Corporation’s attack on Commissioner Michaels this past week on RAW is WAR prior to the main event. Plus, the main event itself, where Mankind won the WWF Championship for the first time, defeating The Rock, after being denied a title shot at the Royal Rumble by Mr. McMahon earlier in the evening, and then later screwed out of a spot in the Royal Rumble match by special guest referee, Shane McMahon.
The usual HeAT opening video package then plays and the cameras cut to the arena, where Kevin Kelly and Jim Cornette welcome the fans at home to Sunday Night HeAT. Cornette says that Shane McMahon is not here tonight and that he has been selected to replace him on commentary. Kelly and Cornette tell us that The Corporation has responded to D-X's challenge made on Monday night, and that tonight's main event will see Triple H and X-Pac of D-Generation X take on The Corporation's hired gun, Test and "Corporate" Kane. Also tonight, we have the debut of a man called "Gillberg" but first up, the WWF Hardcore title will be on the line as Road Dogg defends against Al Snow. Plus, we will have an update on the condition of the WWF Commissioner, Shawn Michaels within the hour as well!
Road Dogg def. Al Snow via pinfall to retain the WWF Hardcore Championship in 6:40. The leader of the J.O.B. Squad has set his sights on the WWF Hardcore title, but in order to earn it he has a tough task ahead of him, as he learned tonight. A great brawl from start to finish saw the two men battling in the crowd at one point, later making their way backstage, where the finish of the match took place. Snow was relentless, taking everything that Road Dogg could hit him with and still managed to kick out and continue to come back for more. Road Dogg tipped an anvil case over onto Snow, trapping him down long enough to get the three count.
Michael Cole is backstage, standing by with D-Generation X. During this interview, Triple H took the majority of the speaking time, leaving The New Age Outlaws to make funny faces in the background while X-Pac tried not to laugh. Chyna simply stood there with a serious look on her face. When asked about the Royal Rumble, Triple H said that it's every man, or woman, for themselves. He said that they may all be friends, but when there is a shot at the WWF Championship on the line, it's strictly business. All five members looked at the camera and did the D-X signature crotch-chop while yelling "Suck it!".
Owen Hart, Jeff Jarrett and Debra are all in the ring. Jarrett has a guitar, as usual, and Owen has a microphone in hand. Owen denies that he is or ever was The Blue Blazer and says that he will finally put an end to the phony rumors once and for all, because not only will he wrestle The Blue Blazer, but it's impossible for Jeff Jarrett to be under the mask, seeing as how he is already in the ring. Jarrett and Debra join Kevin Kelly and Jim Cornette on commentary as The Blue Blazer makes his entrance, looking like he has put on some weight sense we had last seen him.
Owen Hart def. The Blue Blazer via pinfall in 3:05. Owen Hart dominated the alleged "Blue Blazer" and forced him to submit to the Sharpshooter in just a matter of minutes.
After the match, Steve Blackman came running down to the ring with a kendo stick in hand, hitting Owen in the mid-section, then cracked it over the head of The Blue Blazer as well. Jarrett seemed as if he was going to jump in the ring with his guitar, but when Blackman challenged him, Jarrett backed down. Owen, Jarrett and Debra retreated up the ramp when realized they had forgot about someone, but it was too late. In the middle of the ring, Blackman unmasked The Blue Blazer this time to reveal The Blue Meanie! Blackman began clubbing away at Meanie with the kendo stick, then pointed the kendo stick at Owen and Jarrett, signaling their time is coming very soon.
Mark Henry is sitting in his dressing room when someone can be heard opening the door and walking in. He looks up to see Chyna’s friend from Monday night, Sammy. As Mark begins to shield himself, Sammy tells Mark that Chyna is a fool for not wanting to be with him. She starts rubbing his shoulders and begins kissing him on the cheek. Henry reaches back and cops a feel downstairs, and his face instantly drops, then he falls out of his chair, fainting! Sammy laughs hysterically as “she” pulls a wig off of her head, revealing that she is a drag queen!
On commentary, Jim Cornette and Kevin Kelly inform us that tomorrow on RAW is WAR we will see The New Age Outlaws challenge Ken Shamrock and Big Boss Man for the WWF Tag Team Championships, as a graphic is shown hyping the match as well.
A limo arrives in the parking lot of the arena. On commentary, Cornette and Kelly question who it is while the chauffeur gets out to open the passenger’s door. The door opens and out steps the Chairman of the WWF, Mr. McMahon, his hired gun, Test and the Corporation’s Head of Security, the Big Boss Man. Test calls Kane "stupid" and "intellectually- disabled", telling Vince that he doesn't want to team with him tonight. However, Vince insists that Kane is the right man for the job, while also agreeing that Kane is no where near being the brightest crayon in the box.
Security guards are gathered around a dressing room backstage, when one of them walks up to the door and knocks, yelling "GILLBERG!” A poorly written sign taped to the door also reads “GILLBERG”. The door opens and out walks Duane Gill, the WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, hilariously impersonating WCW’s Goldberg. Escorted by the security guards to the gorilla position, Gillberg makes his way onto the stage, where members of the J.O.B. Squad, along with a few stage hands, hold sparklers over his head, then spray fire extinguishers at him. His theme music is similar to Goldberg’s, even with “Gillberg!” chants dubbed in the track. Gillberg walks down to the ring, climbs on the ropes bottom and middle ropes and lets out an awkward scream. He grabs a microphone and says “Gillberg doesn’t want to know who’s next. Gillberg wants to know…Who’s first?” It didn’t take long for Luna Vachon to come running down the aisle ready to accept the challenge.
Luna Vachon def. Gillberg via pinfall in 2:21. Luna repeatedly called Gillberg “Sable” during the match, pretending as if he were her instead. Luna made short work of Gillberg, pinning him ever so ironicly with Jackhammer!
Jim Cornette and Kevin Kelly have an injury update on the Commissioner of the WWF, Shawn Michaels. According to the doctors, Michaels suffered a concussion at the hands of The Corporation. They wish him a speedy recovery and question what the repercussions of the attack may be.
The Oddities def. The Headbangers via pinfall in 3:26. This match was unofficially for The Headbangers' unsanctioned "Tag Team Championships of the Universe". The fans were all over the cases of Kurrgan and Giant Silva during this match. Despite intending for them to be the babyfaces of the match, the fans found no excitement in seeing The Oddities in the ring. In what wasn't really a good match at all, Kurggan pinned Thrasher following a Kurrgan Shuffle.
The Headbangers were shown backstage, throwing chairs around and screaming, clearly upset over not only their loss to The Oddities, but more importantly, losing their fictional championships. They vowed to get revenge on “those freaks”, as if they were any more normal themselves.
The WWF ReWind highlights the European title match last Monday, where X-Pac defended against Test. After interference from Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco during the match, X-Pac and Triple H issued a challenge to two Corporation members for a tag team match tonight.
Dennis Knight is at ringside, dressed in all black with a bizarre marking on his forehead."He is coming!" Knight screamed at the top of his lungs repeatedly, informing everyone at ringside, even the announce team.
Before the main event, Mr. McMahon led members The Corporation down to the ring; Test, Kane, Ken Shamrock, Big Boss Man, Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco. Shane McMahon and the former WWF Champion, The Rock were not present this evening. Mr. McMahon said that D-X has more guts than brains, and says that the fate that Shawn Michaels met last Monday should have been a warning to them not to mess with The Corporation, but being just as rebellious as always, D-X won’t listen. Mr. McMahon joined Jim Cornette and Kevin Kelly at the announce table to do commentary for the main event. Chyna and The New Age Outlaws accompanied Triple H and X-Pac to the ring.
Triple H and X-Pac def. Test and Kane via pinfall in 9:37. With company in both corners for this match, it was destined to be a chaotic main event once again. Test started off the match with X-Pac, whom he got the better of, but when Triple H got the tag from X-Pac, Test tried to tag in Kane, but Kane refused. Triple H worked over Test for a couple minutes, then with the referee distracted by Pat Patterson at ringside, Boss Man quickly rolled into the ring and hit Triple H with a shot from his nightstick. Road Dogg was quick to chase after Boss Man, going around the ring, up the ramp and backstage. Kane had X-Pac up in the air by his throat, about to deliver a Chokeslam, when he tossed him into the corner instead, climbed over the top rope and exited the ring. Mr. McMahon grabbed a microphone and began yelling at Kane as he left through the crowd, ordering him to come back. Shamrock entered the ring with a chair, but before he could swing, he was tackled by Billy Gunn who began unloading punches. Triple H hit Test with the Pedigree to pick up the win.
Sunday Night HeAT goes off the air with D-X and The Corporation brawling all over the ring and the ringside area. Mr. McMahon is furious at Kane's actions and declares that there will be hell to pay. Jim Cornette and Kevin Kelly remind everyone to tune in to RAW is WAR tomorrow night, right here on the USA Network! |

You've got an intriguing diary here. It's understandable how the first few shows go along with what happened in the real world but hopefully we see your mark on this era soon. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

The WWF signature graces the screen, followed by the RAW is WAR opening video package.The cameras circle the arena as fans hold their signs high in the air. On commentary, Jim Cornette and Jerry Lawler welcome the fans at home to the show. There was no explanation given for Cornette being in the lead announce chair tonight. Anyways, Cornette and Lawler hype the fact that the WWF Tag Team Championships will be on the line tonight as the Corporate Team will defend against the New Age Outlaws. Also tonight, D'Lo Brown will take on Edge, and in a rematch from last week; Mark Henry will battle Goldust. They question what will be in store for "The Big Red Machine" Kane, after he walked out on The Corporation last night on HeAT.
Vince McMahon makes his way down the ramp, into the ring and grabs a microphone. The sold-out crowd was all over the case of Mr. McMahon with a loud chorus of boos, along with a chant of "A$$h0le" breaking out. Growing impatient waiting for the crowd to quiet down, McMahon orders them to "Shut up!", which backfired on him as the fans did the opposite. He finally gave up on waiting and just started to speak and the crowd noise slowly soon dropped. McMahon started off by apologizing to the San Antonio crowd for Shawn Michaels not being at the show, but says that its Shawn's own fault, because he didn't want to play by the rules. Another individual who doesn't seem to want to play by the rules is Kane, who he threatens have sent back to the insane asylum "that he came from". Finally on to the new WWF Champion, McMahon said that Mankind is the worst possible face to represent the WWF as champion, and at least "Stone Cold" can "put butts in the seats" (This was an obvious shot at WCW announcer Tony Schivone in regards to his "That'll put some butts in the seats" comment on Nitro's broadcast last week, after WCW gave away the result of Mankind winning the WWF title, as RAW was taped and Nitro was live.) Speaking of "Stone Cold", he says that Mankind couldn't have won the WWF title without the interference from Austin. He goes on to talk about their match at the Royal Rumble, saying that not only will he "beat the living hell out of him", but when he enters the Royal Rumble at number thirty, he will have the best chance at crushing Austin's chances of going to the main event of WrestleMania. He hopes that Austin can survive long enough in the Rumble so he can eliminate Austin himself and award himself a check for $100,000, in reference to the bounty for whoever can eliminate Austin from the Rumble match. He even tosses the idea out there that he could be the WWF Champion, and it is at this point that he is interrupted by the WWF Champion himself, Mankind, who comes to the ring to some new theme music and great pop from the fans. Mankind talks about winning the WWF title being a dream come true and thanks the fans for all of their support, while McMahon looks at him with a disgusted look on his face. McMahon says that looking at Mankind with the belt makes him want to puke and that he has an idea how to put an end to this week-long nightmare. He says that he has decided to give Kane one more chance to prove his loyalty to The Corporation, but it isn't so much a chance for Kane as it is an order; an order to destroy Mankind and take the WWF Championship from him tonight! The cameras cut backstage where The Rock is shown watching McMahon on a monitor, and he doesn't look too happy.
The WWF ReWind sponsored by Lugz..."Boots and shoes with attitude": The Owen Hart/Blue Blazer mystery is recapped.
Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart def. Steve Blackman & Dan Severn via pinfall. The crowd was pretty lively for the opening contest, partially due to Debra's presence at ringside. Jarrett started the match off against Blackman after Owen tagged out before making any contact, as he was initially the legal man to begin the match when the bell rang. Blackman tagged in Severn, who then proceeded to apply a Rear Naked Choke on Blackman! Owen and Jarrett looked on, smiling in approval as Severn cranked down on the hold. After finally releasing the choke, Owen applied the Shapshooter for good measure, but Blackman was already passed out, leaving the referee no choice but to call for the bell.
A video is shown of Shane McMahon helping his father train for his match with Steve Austin at the Royal Rumble, and potentially the Royal Rumble match itself. Vince was shown downing raw eggs, practicing the Stone Cold Stunner in a ring in a training facility with some unknown workers and throwing them over the top rope, and even running in the snow while Shane slowly drove alongside of him in a car, yelling at him with a megaphone.
Backstage, in The Corporation's locker room, we see Patterson and Brisco trying to calm down Test. He is upset that Mr. McMahon decided to book Kane against Mankind tonight, for the WWF title nonetheless, instead of him, after what happened last night on HeAT. Patterson and Brisco insist that they will talk to Mr. McMahon about it.
Test def. Val Venis via pinfall. Val was a little bit off of his game tonight, as he kept allowing himself to be distracted by an attractive, young, blonde female sitting in the front row who was apparently checking out "The Big Valbowski" as much as he was checking out her. Val started off strong, but Test cut him off with a thumb to the eye above the referees head, after Val had Test backed into a corner and the referee was trying to separate the two. Test proceed to work over Val's back, but his inexperience worked against him as he failed to follow up effectively on his moves, allowing Val to catch his breath and begin to fight back, but Val couldn't stay focused. Test reversed an Irish Whip and nearly took Val's head off with a Big Boot, then delivered a Pump Handle Slam for the win.
A video recapping the focal point of last week's show is played, showing Mankind request a WWF title shot which Mr. McMahon denied, Shane McMahon preforming a fast count in Mankind's Royal Rumble Qualifying Match with Triple H, Mankind holding Shane hostage for a title shot, and finally winning the WWF title from The Rock in the main event, with D-X and The Corporation at ringside, along with a chair shot from "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to The Rock. We see Mankind celebrating, running around the ring and holding the WWF title belt high above his head.
D’Lo Brown makes his entrance as he is in singles competition against Edge up next. On commentary, Cornette and Lawler plug the sponsors for tonight’s show: Snickers, Quakerstake and 1-800-COLLECT before clips from last week are shown where a pregnant Terri was accidently knocked off of the ring apron by D’Lo Brown and stretchered out of the building. Lawler says that D’Lo has been a mess all week as a result of what happened.
D’Lo Brown def. Edge via disqualification. D’Lo was also off of his game tonight, but not because of a pretty girl at ringside. Edge controlled most of the match, as D’Lo’s head was nowhere near being in this match, but he wasn’t going to lose without a fight. Jacqueline came walking down to the ring with a purpose, got right up in D’Lo’s face, yelling “You son of a b*tch! Do you know what you did? I hate you!”, before slapping him across the face and walking off. D’Lo stood there for a second looking down at the ground, and then started to leave the ring when Christian and Gangrel suddenly came out of nowhere and attacked D’Lo, resulting in a disqualification.
As The Brood proceeded to beat down D’Lo, Mark Henry came running down to the ring to make the save, hitting all three members of The Brood with a Clothesline and they leave through the crowd in retreat. While Henry helped D’Lo to his feet, the music of The Godfather is heard as he leads The Ho Train down to ringside. Godfather mentions how himself, D’Lo and Henry all used to be a part of The Nation and says that he is still there to have their back whenever they need him. He pokes a little bit of fun at Henry for getting kicked in the groin last week by not only Goldust, but Chyna as well, then tells D’Lo not to worry about Terri and not to let Jacqueline get to him. He questions how many different men could have potentially fathered Terri’s baby anyways, which gets a smile out of Henry, which makes D’Lo stop and wonder. Godfather then proposes that D’Lo and Henry need to get away from all of their problems with women, and says he has the solution; the hos. But rather than be customers, he extends and offer to be business partners. Henry and D’Lo look at each other, shaking their heads in agreement, then all three men shake hands and it looks as if a new alliance has been born. The Rock and Vince McMahon are shown in McMahon’s office, arguing over the fact that Kane is getting a shot at the WWF title before Rock gets his rematch. Vince tells Rock that he has nothing to worry about and that the WWF title is coming back to The Corporation tonight when Kane destroys Mankind. Vince says that if Kane knows what is good for him, not only will he win the WWF title tonight, but he will hand it over to The Rock, but Rock doesn’t seem to be too pleased with the idea.
Along with a graphic being shown, Jim Cornette and Jerry Lawler announce on commentary that this Sunday night on HeAT, Sable will defend the WWF Women's Championship against Luna.
The New Age Outlaws def. Ken Shamrock & Big Boss Man to win the WWF Tag Team Championships. Both teams were evenly matched and had an equal number of underhanded tactics to combat the other team. Gunn and Shamrock started the match off, as Gunn has been all over the case of Shamrock in recent weeks, seeking an Intercontinental title shot after pinning him in a non-title singles match. A couple minutes into the match, Owen Hart, Jeff Jarrett and Debra came down to ringside and joined Cornette and Lawler at the announce table. Jarrett and Owen said they weren’t there to cause any problems, but criticized the fact that they haven’t received a title shot yet. The Outlaws dominated the early going of the match until Boss Man hit Gunn in the back with a knee, while Boss Man stood on the apron and Gunn bounced off of the ropes. Boss Man and Shamrock made Gunn’s legs the target of their attacks, but primarily the right ankle and knee. Brawling on the outside, Road Dogg threw Boss Man over the announce table and on to Jarrett, which caused a face-off between Boss Man and Jarrett. Shamrock turned his attention to Boss Man and Jarrett, allowing Gunn to roll up Shamrock, and with a handful of tights he was able to hold Shamrock down long enough for a three count and we’ve got new champions!
Backstage, Ken Shamrock is out of control, screaming, throwing things and kicking doors. Mr. McMahon tries to calm Shamrock down, but has little to no sucess. Shamrock says he is sick of Billy Gunn and wants him one on one at the Royal Rumble, vowing to break Gunn's ankle. Without hesitation, Mr. McMahon agrees to allow the match and encourages Shamrock to snap his ankle.
Mark Henry def. Goldust via pinfall. Mark Henry was noticeably more aggressive in the ring tonight than he has been in the past for whatever reason. It looks like we are seeing a new side of Mark Henry in the ring. Henry won the match with a Powerslam in a decent bout.
After the match, Henry teased giving Goldust a taste of his own medicine with Shattered Dreams, but suddenly the lights in the arena go out for about ten seconds. When they come back on, Mark Henry is on his knees outside of the ring, covered in a red liquid. Sexual Chocolate has been bloodbathed!
In the middle of the ring is a desk with three microphones, along with two chairs, one on opposite sides of the table. Jerry Lawler picks up one of the microphones and says that in light of Commissioner Michaels not being tonight due to the actions of The Corporation, he has been asked to moderate the contract signing between Mr. McMahon and "Stone Cold". Mr. McMahon is introduced first, accompanied by four riot squad police officers, wearing helmets and wielding nightsticks and riot shields. Austin comes out second to a huge ovation, gets in the ring and walks to all four corners where he climbs on the middle rope and raises his arms in the air, giving the middle-finger salute. Austin asks why Vince has so much protection around him, especially when Austin’s contract states that he can’t put his hands on Vince unless it’s an official match. Vince insists that the protection is for Austin, not McMahon, and then goes on about how hard he has been training and how he will kick Austin’s ass before Austin cuts him off and tells him to shut up. Austin tells Vince that he’s got it all wrong and how the only way he will leave the arena after the Royal Rumble is on a stretcher or in a casket. Austin signs the contract and throws it down on the table for Vince to sign. Smiling, Vince inks his signature on the contract as the fans erupt as the riot police exit the ring, but one stays in the ring and removes his helmet, revealing himself to be Shawn Michaels! Michaels has his head bandaged, showing the effects being attacked last week by Corporation members. Austin points for Vince to turn around, and when he does he is met with Sweet Chin Music. Michaels dances around a little, soaking in the reaction from his hometown crowd. Austin calls for a couple beers and the two former WrestleMania opponents celebrate and share some beers in the ring, even pouring a cold one on the motionless Chairman. It might have been the alcohol, but something inside of Austin couldn’t resist kicking Michaels in the mid-section and delivering a Stunner to the commissioner!
Just as we saw last night, the man they call "Gillberg" was escorted by arena security guards from his locker room to the "Gorilla Position". The Blue Meanie, Scorpio and Bob Holly held sparklers over Gillberg's head for a "spectacular" pyro display, followed by a couple of stage hands spraying fire extinguishers. It was mentioned by Jim Cornette on commentary that Gillberg is the reigning WWF Light Heavyweight Champion. Gillberg continued down the ramp and a quick replay of Luna defeating Gillberg in his debut match last night on HeAT was shown while he entered the ring. After grabbing a microphone, he issued another open challenge and went on to add that his loss last night didn't actually count because "Gillberg doesn't beat women".
Papi Chulo def. Gillberg via pinfall in a non-title match. Papi Chulo made quick work of the man they call “Gillberg”, as Gillberg attempted a Spear right out of the gate, which Chulo dodged with a leapfrog. Chulo connected with a Springboard Dropkick, Springboard Cross-body, a Hurricanronna and finished him off with a Moonsault in just a couple of quick minutes.
We see a recap of Mr. McMahon’s promo in the ring earlier tonight where he booked Mankind to defend the WWF Championship tonight against Kane as well as trash talking Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels as well as the main event participants. Then we see highlights from the contract signing earlier tonight, where Shawn Michaels was posing as a riot squad officer and laid out Mr. McMahon with Sweet Chin Music.
Mankind versus Kane for the WWF Championship ended in a draw when The Rock interfered. A fantastic main event between two former tag team partners went back and forth for about thirteen minutes. The fans were nearly behind Mankind entirely, but there were a few chants of “Let’s go Kane!” in the crowd. At one point, Mankind had Kane beat after two Double Arm DDTs, but accidently knocking down the referee just a moment earlier came back to haunt him. The Rock came running down the ramp with a steel chair in hand. Rock entered the ring and first struck Kane with a thunderous chair shot, but Kane was still standing, only staggering. Mankind ate three chair shots, then Kane took two more as well. With both men down in the middle of the ring, Rock grabbed the WWF title belt from the timekeeper’s table and headed back up the ramp with the belt in one hand and the chair in the other hand. Rock turned around and looked back to the ring when he made it to the top of the ramp, just in time to see Mankind start to sit up. Kane does his signature sit-up and makes it to his feet before Mankind, whom he picks up by the throat and plants in the middle of the ring with a Chokeslam. He looks up at The Rock and does a slow throat-cutting motion before slowly raising his arms high, then quickly bringing them down as the pyro on the ringposts explode.

Austin qualified for the Royal Rumble Match back at In Your House: Rock Bottom last month by defeating The Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match. After entering himself in the Royal Rumble and magically drawing entry number thirty for himself, Mr. McMahon was confident that Austin had "no chance in hell" to win the Royal Rumble. At the end of 1998, Mr. McMahon Commissioner Shawn Michaels booked this match on the first RAW is WAR of the new year, with the stipulation that if Mr. McMahon won, he would in fact enter the Royal Rumble at number thirty, but if Austin won the match, Mr. McMahon would not enter the Royal Rumble Match what so ever.
WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
KEN SHAMROCK (C) VS. BILLY GUNN
A few weeks ago, Billy Gunn pinned Ken Shamrock in a singles match that was originally thought to be for the title, but it was announced post-match that the title was not on the line. Since then, Gunn has been relentless in his efforts to get a title shot, interfering in Shamrock's matches and attacking him backstage, doing whatever he can to get under the skin of "The World's Most Dangerous Man". Shamrock finally snapped after himself and Boss Man lost the WWF Tag Team titles to The New Age Outlaws and now Shamrock just wants payback, while Gunn seeks to bring another piece of gold to the D-X camp.

- Mike Barton (Bart Gunn) has been the victim of recent locker room ribs orchestrated by X-Pac, which Barton didn’t take too kindly to. Word is that a fist fight nearly broke out between the two, but things were cooled down before reaching a boiling point.
- Rumor has it that “Stone Cold” Steve Austin has taken The Blue Meanie, of all people, under his wing as of late.
- A handful of new talent has reportedly been signed by the WWF in recent weeks and should all be reporting to developmental. They are: Blitzkrieg, James Gibson,Jason Arhndt and The Haas Brothers; Charlie and Russ, plus NWA Wildside announcer, Steven Prazak.
- Scorpio has signed a two year contract extension with the WWF, while Kurrgan, Giant Silva and Golga are believed to be on their way out of the company. Their contracts expire at the end of the month and word is that neither of the three have not been offered a new contract.
- Kurt Angle defeated Baldo to become the new PPW Heavyweight Champion on their first show of the New Year. WWF agents have said to have been very high on Angle's work and want him on WWF television within a year. There has been some speculation that with dropping the belt, Baldo may be on his way up to the main roster very soon.

WWF Sunday Night HeAT: Sunday 10th January 1999...Decent opening contest to kick things off, with Road Dogg getting a victory against Al Snow to retain the WWF Hardcore Championship. It's still very strange to me to see Road Dogg with the Hardcore title though, hopefully he doesn't have it for long. I also hope that you avoid going for Jesse James facing the Big Boss Man at the Royal Rumble in a NON-TITLE NORMAL match. It defeats the object of the title. It seemed like there wasn't even a story behind this one, just a fun opening contest for the title. D-Generation X talking about the Royal Rumble is nice. No mention of the ongoing feud with the Corporation though, hmm. I wonder if Vince McMahon has any holes for the DX members to jump through to qualify into the Rumble. Only time will tell. It sucks to see the Owen Hart and Blue Blazer feud killed off quickly and shortly. By this time, it had been going on for about two months, so this was a really anticlimactic end to the storyline. Steve Blackman's involvement was nice, but the Blue Meanie being revealed as the Blazer? That's fitting, but ridiculous - surely someone would have noticed, right? I guess that's realistic, nonetheless. 1999, the land of racy wrestling storylines running wild on television. Sammy is a drag queen? Poor Mark Henry. Another cringy/funny storyline. I think that maybe we should remember that HeAT is on at 6pm, hahaha. Surely these storylines could jeopardise this scenario. Test and Kane teaming tonight should be interesting, I figure. Gillberg losing to Luna Vachon was fun. I wouldn't have been surprised if Luna would've taken Gillberg's WWF Light Heavyweight Championship, to be quite honest. Nonetheless, it prepared Luna's upcoming match with Sable for the WWF Women's Championship. The Oddities getting a win against the Headbangers, okay. I preferred the heel incarnation of the Oddities, they were much cooler with the Jackyl. This storyline is still going on? I see Dennis Knight is continuing the real life storyline of being converted into Mideon by the Ministry of Darkness. Finally, a chaotic tag team main event in the epitome scenario of the Attitude Era. Surrounded by D-Generation X and the Corporation, Triple H and X-Pac being victorious against Test and Kane - I think that ten minutes was a little too long though, personally. Kane being disobedient is fun. Overall, quite a decent episode of HeAT. A lot to digest, too. Very realistic, and as ridiculous as the storylines and segments go, they are true to the time period, and are very fun to read about. Good work, I'll reply to RAW once you get the 1/17 edition of HeAT posted.

JANUARY 17TH, 1999 – MONTAGNE CENTER IN BEAUMONT, TX The WWF signature plays, which is followed by the Sunday Night HeAT opening music video package. Jim Cornette is in the lead announce chair again tonight, alongside Kevin Kelly. They welcome the fans at home to the show, announcing that tonight is sure to be a stacked hour, concluding with a four-man Over-The-Top Rope Challenge main event. Plus Sable will be defending the WWF Women’s Championship against Luna! But up first it's a war inside of the Lion’s Den, as an MMA legend, Dan Severn collides with another martial arts expert, Steve Blackman!
Dan Severn def. Steve Blackman via knockout in a Lion’s Den Match. Things kicked off a little bit differently tonight. Starting off, Severn looked to take down Blackman, while Blackman was more intent on striking. After Blackman connected with a crisp jab, he followed up with a couple kicks, but on the third attempt, Severn caught Blackman’s leg and took him down and they began a competitive grappling match on the mat, with neither man able to gain a significant advantage. The end came when Severn struck Blackman with a stiff right hand right on the button, knocking him out cold instantly! Afterwards however, Severn could be seen placing something in his trunks, presumably a foreign object. Cornette and Kelly put over the fact that “anything goes” inside of the Lion’s Den.
The Rock’s music hits as he enters the arena to a loud chorus of boos from the crowd. Shane and Kevin seem confused as to why Rock has come to the ring, citing that he is not scheduled on their format sheets. Rock claims he was screwed out of the WWF title by “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and denies that Mankind could ever beat him in a true one-on-one fight. He says that he hopes he scrambled whatever brains Mankind and Kane actually had with the chair shots he gave both men on Monday and tells Kane that The Corporation doesn’t have room for “a intellectually- disabled person”. Mankind interrupts, stepping out onto the stage with a microphone of his own. “Blah. Blah. Blah. Oh, sorry Rock, were you saying something? Sounded just like a bunch of crap to me!” Rock asks Mankind when he is going to get his rematch, and Mankind responds by saying that he doesn’t think that Rock has earned it, which clearly pisses off The Rock. Rock offers to let Mankind choose the stipulation, but he doesn’t still doesn’t seem too keen on the idea. Rock suggests that there be no count outs, which isn’t good enough for Mankind. “No disqualifications as well”, said Rock, in which Mankind responded “I just don’t think you’re championship material!” Finally, Rock says that there will be no Corporate interference, which seems to have swayed the deal in Mankind’s favor. After a bit of negotiating, Mankind agrees to defend the WWF title against The Rock inside of a steel cage at the Royal Rumble!
Ken Shamrock def. Scorpio via submission. Billy Gunn came down to ringside and joined Jim Cornette and Kevin Kelly on commentary, talking trash about Shamrock and Shane nearly the entire time. Throughout the match, Shamrock continued to look at Gunn, as if he was sending a message to him with each suplex and every strike. Shamrock made short work of Scorpio, forcing him to tap out to the Ankle Lock in about three minutes. Gunn and Shamrock went face-to-face next to the announce table after the match but Shane McMahon managed to talk Shamrock into walking away rather than fighting. Instead, Shamrock returned to the ring and applied the Ankle Lock once more. Gunn came to the aid of Scorpio with a steel chair, sliding into the ring and Shamrock was quick to release the hold and roll out of the ring.
The same video of Vince McMahon training for the Royal Rumble as was shown on RAW is WAR this past week is played again, followed by video package that hypes the prestige of the Royal Rumble Match itself.
The Godfather, D’Lo Brown and Mark Henry are shown walking through the backstage area, each of them walking with ladies on both of their arms. D’Lo and Henry are sporting attire nearly identical to Godfather’s, complete with gold chains and a feather in the hat. Henry and D’Lo are in tag team action up next!
Mark Henry & D’Lo Brown def. The Legion of Doom via pinfall. Droz once again took the spot generally filled by Hawk as he teamed with Animal once again. Animal and Droz weren't on the same page here tonight, as has been the case with them for the past couple of weeks. About mid-match, The Brood were shown watching the match backstage on a monitor. Droz saw limited involvement in this match, as Henry and D’Lo kept Animal isolated on their half of the ring for the majority of the contest. Henry pinned Animal after a Big Splash in the middle of the ring.
Droz and Animal argued with each other once again after the match, but Droz snapped and tackled Animal and began laying in punches until Hawk came running down to the ring in street clothes, without face paint. Droz noticed Hawk when he was about halfway down the ramp and quickly exited the ring and made his way up the ramp, laughing, while Hawk helped Animal up to his feet. Animal and Hawk hugged and raised their arms together in the ring, signifying a reunion between one of the most legendary tag teams of all time.
Al Snow is shown somewhere backstage talking to Head, going on about some nonsense about a ship sinking in Atlanta, how its Head's fault that he didn't win the Hardcore title last week, and something about Waffle House.
Screenshots from the closing segment of RAW is WAR are shown as some chilling music plays in the background while Jim Cornette and Kevin Kelly ponder what exactly The Ministry of Darkness has in store for the WWF.
The WWF Rewind, sponsored by Lugz “Boots & Shoes With Attitude” recaps Luna’s recent obsession with getting a shot at Sable’s WWF Women’s title.
Luna def. Sable via count out in a WWF Women’s title match. Sable retains the title on a count out. Luna carried Sable throughout this match, making nearly every terribly executed maneuver on behalf of Sable end up looking at least half decent. The match went outside of the ring and Luna hit Sable with a suplex. She got back in the ring to break the referee’s count, but rolling back into the ring at “9”, the referee made the count of “10” before Luna could touch the arena floor to restart the count.
Luna wasn’t satisfied with only winning the match on a count out, and after the referee refused to restart the match, Luna went back after Sable and sent her charging into the steel ring steps. Luna grabbed the Women’s title belt from the timekeeper’s table and stood above Sable, holding up the belt. “This is mine!”, Luna proclaimed.
A graphic is shown for hyping a one-on-one match between Test and Kane tomorrow night on RAW is WAR after the problems between Kane and The Corporation as of late. The cameras then cut backstage, where Steve Blackman is hitting anything and everything with his kendo stick, pissed off and looking for Dan Severn.
In an interview conducted by Dox Hendrix, D-X furthered their feud with The Corporation as New Age Outlaws boast about their WWF Tag Team title victory. Triple H said that D-X is just going to continue to bring home all of the gold, saying that Billy will capture the Intercontinental title at the Royal Rumble and says that he himself will win the Royal Rumble match. X-Pac speaks up, asking “You think so, huh?”, which starts a bit of an argument between the five members of D-X as they all claim that they will be victorious in the Royal Rumble. After all, it is every man for himself with a shot at the richest prize in the game at the biggest spectacle of them all on the line.
Clips from this past week’s RAW is WAR are played, showing Mankind defending the WWF title against Kane in a match that ended in a no contest when The Rock interfered and attacked both men with a steel chair and then managed to walk off with the title belt. Cornette and Kelly announce that at the Royal Rumble, Sable will defend the WWF Women’s title in a rematch from earlier tonight.
Goldust def. The Godfather, Val Venis and Jeff Jarrett in an Over-The-Top Rope Challenge. In a little bit of a preview of next Sunday’s Royal Rumble, we saw these four men square off in tonight’s main event. The rules were simple; you are eliminated only by being thrown over the top rope and both feet touching the ground, and the last man in the ring wins, much similar to the Royal Rumble match itself. Val was on fire in the beginning of the match, but he started to flirt with Debra at ringside, which resulted in Jarrett coming from behind and dumping him over the top rope and to the floor. Godfather and Goldust worked over Jarrett together, but Godfather seized the opportunity and eliminated an unsuspecting Goldust, after he set up Jarrett for Shattered Dreams and began to play to the crowd. Godfather and Jarrett battled back and forth with both men teetering on the verge of elimination at one point or another. With both men down in the center of the ring after connecting with Clotheslines on each other at the same time, Debra slid Jarrett his guitar. He took a swing at Godfather and tried to make a hit but got kicked "out of tune". Godfather picked up the guitar and smashed it over Jarrett's head. Jarrett staggered back into the ropes and Godfather and sent him over the top rope with a Clothesline.
Godfather celebrated in the ring while Debra tried to check on Jarrett, who kept pushing her away. Suddenly, the lights went out, then about ten seconds later they begin flickering red. The Brood can be seen in the ring attacking Godfather, beating him down to the mat in the center of the ring. The lights go out again for roughly ten seconds again, and when they come back on, Godfather laying face-down in the center of the ring, victim of a Bloodbath. |
