Aliens was one of the very first Horror movies I ever saw and still an all-time favorite to this day.

I first seen Aliens when I was 12.I taped it off TV one night and man my mind was blown.I soon owned the directors cut on VHS then it was one of the first DVDs I got and Blu Rays.
I haven't actually seen the theatrical cut for years and years.its gotta be the 90s actually.....I remember all my friends taped their off a different channel and all the swearing was dubbed out.....so watching it in my house was a regular deal.
also when I was out Blu Ray shopping last month I noticed something very telling...was in about 6-8 stores and all of them had the Box set and individual movies for sale.not ONE of these shops had Aliens on Blu in stock.plenty of the other 3.....but no Aliens.
plus it has aged incredibly well.camerons very saavy use of tech(in the Terminator movies too)has helped in this regard.

In general, horror movie sequels almost always suck.
I think the original Halloween is one of the 4 or 5 best movies ever made.

There's plenty of great Horror sequels. Some may not be as good as the originals but a lot are damned good, regardless.

If any of you like the Saw movies, check out The Collector and The Collection. Both I really liked, The Collector was intended to be a Saw Prequel, but they did away with that idea.

I saw both Collector films. Didn't care for the original but the second was much better.

I was thinking a lot of the old Universal Horror movies would be a good addition. It's been too long since I last saw them to pick a favorite in each.
I'm also reminded of the Mummy trilogy, though they're a stretch to include as they're more Action/Adventure than straight-up Horror. But I definitely liked the original Mummy the best.

yeah I don't consider the Mummy movies with Brendo F to be horror at all really......it was a great move by Universal though to "indy them up".broadened the appeal hugely.
I still really enjoy the first two.

I think the original at least has some Horror elements to it, whereas the other two are much more like Adventure films.

Tales From The Cryptkeeper S1 - While The Cat's Away Tales From The Cryptkeeper S2 - The Haunted Mine
Are You Afraid Of The Dark? S1 - The Tale Of The Pinball Wizard Are You Afraid Of The Dark? S2 - The Tale Of The Midnight Madness Are You Afraid Of The Dark? S3 - The Tale Of The Quicksilver Are You Afraid Of The Dark? S4 - The Tale Of The Fire Ghost Are You Afraid Of The Dark? S5 - The Tale Of The Dead Man's Float Are You Afraid Of The Dark? S6 - The Tale Of Vampire Town Are You Afraid Of The Dark? S7 - The Tale Of The Silver Sight (all three parts)
Masters Of Horror S1 - Cigarette Burns Masters Of Horror S2 - Family
It's been too long since I last watched all of the seasons of some of the other anthologies like Tales From The Darkside, Fear Itself, etc. so I need to rewatch those to determine.

Agreed on The Crazies being a great remake. There's no question that it's better than the original.

I remember my favorite episodes were the Music Of The Spheres, the Sand Kings and the ones with the demon-looking aliens that were actually a peaceful race.

I'm just gonna list a few in each of my 'mainstream' categories in order of my liking because why not, for once I won't focus on bashing my unliked entries in a given series.
Friday the 13th - Jason Lives, The Final Chapter, Part 3, remake, and I genuinely like A New Beginning and am almost willing to call it my favorite at times just to smite people.
Halloween - 1979 Carpenter original obviously, Halloween 4, I'm fine with admitting to adoring Season of the Witch, and you should be too. H20, Carpenter's Halloween II, then honestly Rob Zombie's Halloween II.
Nightmare on Elm Street - Craven's Original, Dream Warriors, New Nightmare, I prefer Dream Child to Dream Master.
Hellraiser - Hellraiser and Hellbound, two of my favorite back to back films ever, the actual Hellbound Heart novel, and then Inferno which is the only one of the direct to DVD sequels I liked or wasn't a waste of time.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre - 1974 Original,TCM2, yes, I enjoyed the campy turn it took, Remake, then the remake prequel, R. Lee Ermy is worth it alone.
Evil Dead - Army of Darkness, Evil Dead 2, Original and Remake kind of tied for third place,I liked the original the least out of the original three which I'm sure is common among fans of the series, still appreciate the hell out of it though.
Scream - SCREAM, changed the face of horror after a dead, dead time during the 90's there for the entire genre, simple as that. SCREAM 3 is the only one I can say I didn't like as a whole.
ALIEN - Alien, Aliens equal love there, this is my ultimate love in the ultimate meeting and melting of sci-fi and horror and always has been, Alien 3 was a production doomed from seemingly the start, but the Assembly Cut is the definitive version of it.

I like The Dream Child a little more than The Dream Master, myself. Both are enjoyable but I like the tone and look of The Dream Child more and enjoy it for the total bizarreness of it.

One series I forgot was Wrong Turn. I've only seen the original, which I remember liking a lot. Yet to see any of the sequels or prequels, which seem to come out every other year or so.

The sequels all seemed to have a pretty mixed reception.
