I'm having an easy time buying alot of these on ebay. I still really like 'em being a huge MMA fan.
I'd love it if Jakks started the line again especially since I think the sport is more popular than it's ever been.

Roy Nelson

And sooooo many others.
I'll stick to trying to gather fodder for customs though.

Yeah, Ronda needs to be made. I'd love to add more Legends to the line but I feel like the more casual fans wouldn't know who most of those fighters are. Mirko's actually one of the first customs I plan on throwing together. I think the Lance Storm Classic Superstars head is closest I can get without having to Modify the head. Ken would be an easy fixup too. Just take his CS head and throw it on the Legends Chuck Liddel body and you basically have him in his outfit from his apperance in UFC 5. Dan Henderson Dominick Cruz Demitrious Johnson Dillashaw Travis Browne are all others I'd like to see. |

I'm no toy designer but I'd think it'd be a little cheaper to produce them now considering they don't have to get multiple Sponsors put on their shorts. The fact that UFC has a deal with Reebok would also make it easier to design since practically every fighter would be in either Black or White. I dunno, I'd love to see Jakks take another Stab at it. |

I hope that Jakks or someone else picks up the UFC license...I was bummed that Round 5 went out of business because their line was great (it has some shitty figs, not all of them were perfect), but they left before the UFC "boom" that happened over the past few years, we lost on more female fighters, such as Tate, Holm, Joanna Champion, etc. and fighters like the Ruthless one or the Wonderboy...

wish Jakks would continue where they left off. we need more Legend figures. both Shamrocks, Tank, Ruas, Taktarov, Goodridge, and a 2-pack with Hackney/600 lbs sumo would be sweet!

LOL Yeah... eBay's global shipping program sucks being Canadian. I also thought Funko pop now had the license? Not a fan... look like kids caricatures. I am more of a Jakks fan than R5... but the big issue I feel was the mass over production. Limited figures for MMA should not be out of /500 or /1000... but more like /25 or /50. Really make them worth chasing (and hold value). |

I actually don't mind the Funkos and will probably buy all the ones produced just cause I know the prices will skyrocket eventually. I get what you mean by them looking like kid caricatures though.
I like the idea of a new MMA line being limited but I'd think the 500-1000 quantity sounds about right. I'd be really frustrated if only 25-50 were produced of each fighter because it'd be so damn hard to get those for a decent price. And I'd hope they'd come out with there walk out gear and a hat or something.

Isnt that the point of the Limited Edition (LE) or chase variant versions being low # production runs... they will gain in value and actually be worth collecting. There are not enough collectors yet to consider a LE production run of 500 or 1000 yet.
This is the main reason why I collect the Jakks UFC LE figures instead of the Round5... their 1 of 100 LE figures are much more rarer. I would not trade my Kimbo Slice variant with the real chest hair (production run of 100) for any Round 5, which at best had a low production run of 500. The Japanese HAO Pride figures are another good release to collect (figures look great and they were not mass produced).
I also collect the UFC trading cards... and like the figures, only the low production # cards hold or gain value... and this is a very limited few. Plus there are way more UFC card collectors than UFC figure collectors and anything over a production run of 25 is not that hard to find etc and it does not hold value.
As a side note... has anyone ever seen a Jakks LE figure checklist? So hard to determine what fighters had low production figures released (i.e. 1 of 100).

Yeah, that´s why I always try to buy things in a lot (to soften up the cost) or buying things from China. The thing with R5 was that they cattered to a more casual audience, like Funko is doing. Like crashingwaves said for example, his LE Kimbo had real chest hair...that made it more valuable and more intersting to look and collect in contrast to the LE Round 5, that it is the same figure, only with a cloth shirt on it. There were some LE that are valuable and cool to have, like the Bas Rutten and Demian Maia one, but most of the times it is the same figure with nothing changed and being a 1 of a 1000 figure, is not rarer that a 1 on a 100 one. And believe it or not the R5 figures are not that much valuable now that the company has closed down, there is a big surplus of figures around the net and on FB groups and their last lines did not sold very well, so there are a lot of them floundering around. |
