Was there any real reason he was the GM? like was he injured, wanted time off in ring action? etc

He was injured I think so they give him the GM role to keep him on tv.

basically Angles neck was in sh*t AGAIN so they gave him this role to keep him on TV.he was having difficulty from the December before this but kept working.....
