ok so I have yet to buy a mattel playset, I have the basic rings but I didnt not buy the
raw arena TLC HEll in the Cell (99.99) Cage stretcher match (christmass thing)
so I thought about getting the MITB but at 64 dollars I mean really is that for real? I mean its just a basic ring with a way to hang a case? I think the price point is out of control and the fact that "if you dont buy it now or you will never see it again" makes matters worse. As if it makes the retail price seem "fair" cause this thing is gonna go up to 200 dollars online. its already 99.99 on ebay right now.
to further the issue since its a TRU exclusive its never go on clearence and if it does it will be at 60.99 dollars hardly a better buy.
what is the logic behind the these price points? even as a parent I cant justify these sets. I would rather buy my children TRU true heroes where for 50 dollars you get huge planes or ships far more product for less money. Even the new gi joe tomahawk is more product for under 50 dollars
I cant imagine how much the back stage set is gonna cost

The price points for 1/12 scale toys are what they are, that's why most lines have moved to 1/18 scale. If they're too expensive for us, we stop buying. If the price hikes up at UK retail again, I might quit.

It's not really that much more than it was when Kmart had it when it was the TLC playset. That was $51, but it didn't come with a figure. I can assure you that the MITB playset will definitely be on sale multiple times between now, & Christmas. I am not sure I agree with your assessment that the Eaglehawk is more product than the MITB set though. I've gotten all of the playsets, and I feel I have gotten my money's worth.

I will agree that to some degree the price point is on the high side, but it is Mattel. A brand that is well known in the toy industry. Barbie collectors put up with a lot worst when it comes to play sets. Also, it's Toys R Us. Holiday season is about to begin, you really can't fault the price..... No one gets angry when they have BOGO sales or special promos that gives you a free item (BigBook Special, 20-0 Undertaker, last year) for spending $30 dollars. Plus, there are coupons for $10 off of $50 spent. For those who missed it the first time, this is a god sent!

well I feel its more product in that its a totally new toy that has been retooled and has not been seen in 20 years. where as the MITB is the same ring and same ladders with the structure being the only real highlight of the set.

I really am only interested in the Ziggler figure. The playsets do cost too much. I skipped the ESR when it was at Big Lot's because I was low on funds. When I got paid they were gone. $30 was a fair price for them. Anything more seems way too ridiculous. I would like to have an Arena, but let's face it, Mattel makes great figures but the accessories and playsets aren't nearly as nice.

Jakks had/has more variety and they were amazing, but I would say they are better. Wrestling during that time period was hot in general. I'll wait on losing all hope with Mattel playsets until I get my hands on the Back Stage playset!!

My problem is Mattel tries something and before giving it it's fair chance to catch on they can it like the esr. To me it's like the Legends series yeah Funk is still hanging around but it was the attire choices they made that caused that. None of jakks Funk's hung around very long. Nor did any legends here first time I saw series 2-4 was at Big Lots so I just think they give up too easily.

Of course, OPs will blame that right to the retailers. Mattel was prolly thinking that the Jakks collectors would transition quickly to Mattel, but that just wasn't the case. I still think Mattel should re-visit some of these older ideas. I may not have the room for the larger items to display, but I don't mind keeping them new and stored in my closet, lol. I am tired of the themed PPV play sets, solely b/c of them getting a ring shoved in with the stuff we actually want. BTW, idc if you are a Ziggler fan, but I'm getting tired of seeing his figure pop up in every set! He's about to be in the prestigious catagory that includes members like John Cena, Rey Mysterio, and Randy Orton !! I fondly remember all the play set I got a chance to get while collecting Jakks figures. To this date, I still prefer a Jakks Hardcore ring with all the ring gear available, over any ring out today. Mattel jumped the gun back in 2010, but I believe that ESRs would go over very well in the present. As for defining moments and legends series being cancelled... I can't blame them. Each line takes a seperate team to develop it. It was best to fold them into the Elite camp.... That's was they were in the first place. Lol, we would have went broke so fast!!

There simply is not a big enough collector market for an entire line of only wrestling legends. The entire collector market is soft at retail. The ESR was given a fair shot. It didn't hit the numbers Mattel needed to warrant accessories, or new ESR's.

The esr was brought out too soon. Look at the RSR jakks had the license for almost 10 years before we got the RSR before that the closest thing we got was the Monster ring for the BCAs and we even got two versions of that and I don't think that sold well either. Call me crazy but Jakks didn't go balls deep at first like mattel did. Nor did they give up on a product so quickly hell we have more cancelled lines from Mattel In the first three years than we did with jakks in the whole almost 15 year span they had it

As far as price point, as long as it's something original I find it worth considering. But something like this MitB set that's just repurposed are hard to justify at full retail price. I'm waiting this thing out until the price goes down by more than half.

OK...you're crazy. Plus you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I'm crazy because my facts are spot on and correct? No you're uninformed and were just proven wrong so you have to make me seem wrong so you look right Everything I've said was fact based. Wanna know why things warm? Because people don't want or need them, jakks was the company that first started the idea of legends it took them until 2003/2004 to do that 7 years after having the license Mattel has the steem jakks had with a lot more notoriety. They could bring the ESR out and it would sell like crazy. Same with a legends line retooled as a flashback line using elite style packaging just saying they wanna make money
