Thought I would put up this simple poll just out of interest to see what everyones thoughts/satisfaction is on the lines Mattel have released recently, what they are planing to release, and the standard/detail and variety of what they release.
I personally have to give them a thumbs up.
I really think they are going to a new level of detail consistently and the variety (usually) in the series between Flashbacks, usual stars and first time in the line is good.
Thoughts?

I find about 90% of Mattel figures to look hideous. The ones that have a lot of accessories to cover up their wafer thin arms and legs look much better.

When you stand a Mattel side-by-side to a Jakks counterpart, I don't think there is any comparison. How anyone could honestly say the Jakks is better is beyond me. Mattel is doing an amazing job. I'll take more realistic, "wafer-thin" arms over giant, oversized, shiny ones.
My only complaint with Mattel is their limited roster so far. Jakks would, and did make everyone. I'm happy with the flashbacks, legends, and exclusives that we have gotten, but I'd like to see some more 80's and 90's guys, But spare me the reasoning; we all know why they haven't done, and may never do it.

Only downside I have is the lack of Legends. At this point and time I had expected to have alot more Legends. If they didn't overproduce the 2-Packs or flood the market with L1 & L2 with the straight out re-releases in the HOF line I think it would have lasted longer than 6 waves.

Other than the high price, im completely satisfied. You get what you pay for though obviously and as stated above, there is no comparison when you stand Jakks next to Mattel. The extra detail shows.

I'm very happy with them. Next question.
Seriously though, they do a great job. I was so upset when Jakks lost the license because I couldn't picture anyone doing figures better. Mattel sure proved me wrong.

Mattel are 100 times better than Jakks, put almost any Mattel figure next to a Jakks counterpart and there's almost a guarantee Mattel will look better

Love Mattel. They make Jakks look awful. I have so many Jakks figures that I once loved but the Mattel versions of each superstar are so much better. Only Mattel's are on my display, Jakks figures are in boxes. They don't compare.

Mattel is pretty close to perfect now. In the earlier series, a lot of figures were disappointments. I think even the nay sayers will be impressed with what they do in the next year. They're getting better and better as time goes on. There's no one who could do a better job quality wise.

Mattel have put 1000 times more detail and effort into their figures than Jakks ever did.

Mattel is doing an incredible job imo. I think this is the only action figure line where I see so much nitpicking because of the community. I include myself in that and I don't mean that to be disrespectful, but in most other circumstances, I'm just happy to see any figures at all. For instance, I don't stress over the details on my 11th Doctor Crash Set 2-pack, I was just ecstatic to get it. I mean seriously, look at what we get or got with Jakks and help me understand how we are complaining over the wrong kneepads or the height not being 100% accurate on Mattel figures. Mattel set their own bar so high that now we complain when it's not perfect. Again, I'm with everyone in that I wish HBK didn't have ginger hair on his RR Heritage figure, I wish Mr. Perfect wasn't so tall and skinny (probably my biggest complaint against Mattel), and I wish that we got more Legends figures on a consistent basis. The truth, for me at least, is that Mattel makes the best wrestling figures ever created and it's been a really fun ride so far collecting and seeing what they will come out with next. I can't even tell you how many times I've been like, "ok, enough of spending my money on this stuff." And then Mattel will release proto photos of something new and I'll be like " it, I have to have that one!" Plus, they gave me an IYH BB HBK. My favorite wrestler of all time, in the attire he wore from probably my favorite match of all time. So for that, I'll always be grateful. I say keep up the incredible work.

Legends Mr Perfect is their worst figure imo. And it sucks so bad because he is my favorite of all time.

Plus the majority of head scans are really bad. E22 Rock looks like Maven.
When Jakks put effort into their figs they absolutely blow ANYTHING Mattel has ever done away. The only thing that Mattel does better than Jakks is scale.
I have roughly 2000 jakks figures and about 20 Mattels.

I'm going to vote "Thumbs in the middle" just because they really went all out in 2010 when the line launched, and every figure was coming with a ton of accessories and almost all of the coats and shirts were cloth....and the last 2 years they have reeeeeaaally scaled back and started to give us less and less fabric. I understand the reason behind that is because it costs too much for THEM to produce, but we've already seen what they are really capable of when they go all out, so anything less just doesn't compare.
Maybe they set the bar too high when the line originally launched, but all of the rubber shirts and coats is a major turn off for me. Also, I'm very unhappy with a lot of the paint apps. Mattel paints everything as ONE SOLID COLOR. There is no shading or variation in the color of hair, beards, or something like Kane's mask. Mattel paints all hair solid black, solid brown, solid orange/red.....which makes hair and bears look drawn on. They have no idea what stubble or 5'olock shadow is, so if a wrestler has even a hint of facial hair, their beard is painted heavy in one solid color.
Plus, most wrestlers who have BROWN hair in real life, their figures get JET BLACK hair (Cody, Barrett, Punk,..ets)...and for some reason they give Wade Barrett BLACK hair but RED eyebrows?
And Kane's mask...Mattel paints it one solid color, the INCORRECT COLOR, I might add. Mattel paints Kane's mask in this solid dark maroon color. In real life, Kane's mask is a lighter red that has black smears and smudges to give the appearance that it's been "burnt". But Mattel doesn't shade anything, so we get a figure where it's one solid color.
More cloth accessories and some actual shading with the paint apps and I'd be a happy camper...but these are some pretty big issues for me to be completely happy.

By and large Mattel have and do make the best wrestling figure lines ever. The consistent quality we get is above what any company has done previously. I was a huge jakks fan and collected their figures from 1997 on, but Mattel has overall better detail, scale, deco and just quality.
