Surprised no one has brought up Skip Sheffield. I think I was the only one that kept tabs on his return. For me, pretty much all my guys have been said. CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Wade Barrett.... No, wait. Barrett still hasn't made it.

The biggest one that stands out is Miz.. Seriously, Go back to 2006 when he was hosting Smackdown and tell yourself that this guy would become WWE Champion and headline WM a couple years later.

In my opinion. Anybody that makes it to the WWE has already made it.

CM Punk & Daniel Bryan. But I'm happy they did. I was happily surprised that Punk never went through a character overhaul or name change. I guess that was due to Paul Heyman.
As far as Bryan, I truly thought he was finished with WWE after the necktie mistake, but I actually ended up winning a bet when he came back as a SummerSlam surprise that year. I'm happy that his strong fan following has pretty much forced WWE's hand, and he definitely deserves it. Talk about redeeming yourself.

I read this backwards, as wrestlers who never made it, who you thought should.. Was coming to name drop Donovan Morgan. It's baffling to me that CM Punk is probably the "number 2" wrestler in the world today, having watched him wrestle in front of literally 20 people in a craphole in Indiana.. Just curious, IWA: Mid South in Charlestown?

I can't believe no one has mentioned Goldust yet. That was a gimmick that seemed certain to fail miserably, yet Dustin somehow embraced it fully and got the character over.

I went to Clarksville a few times but never seen Punk there, because by that time he was only really working the big shows.

Definitely Punk. Unfortunately I was wrong. I still don't see what all the hubbub is about. Orton. All of the hype when he first debuted I thought that there was no chance he could live up to it, but he really came around. Granted he was spinning his wheels until Rated RKO, but after that he really came into his own. He really got believeable. Now he's one of the biggest stars in the industry. And, one funny one, Ryback. I didn't see it happening, but against the odds he caught fire BIG TIME...and they completely ruined it. Virtually overnight they turned him from possibly the hottest babyface to a whiny heel. Sorry, but Reeves is not Batista. It takes a certain personality to pull that off. It doesn't work. He should have never turned, and if he had remained face for the Cena feud he would still be a big deal. Its going to take a lot to get him back to where he was.
Now don't get me started on guys I thought would have made it (or would have made it by now), but haven't.

Jeff Hardy is a big one for me. I'm a huge fan of his, but i would never have thought he would become such a successful singles competitor.

I still don't believe Miz made it. He still sucks if you ask me. He keeps getting awesome Mattel figures though.
Batista. Still think he sucks too. Good heel persona on his way out.
Bryan. No way did I think he was making it where he is at now. Shame on me.
Sheamus. Still don't care for him. Solid brawler/power worker but I don't think he really has any charisma.
Chris Jericho, Eddie and Benoit. I was surprised at how each of them was embraced and elevated by WWE. All 3 more than deserving of all their accolades. But like Bryan, I just didn't know if they'd ever get that chance.
Mick Foley. If you saw Mankind, or even Cactus before that, becoming the legend Mick became then you should play the lottery.
Goldberg. I remember laughing at him for weeks. Generic jabroni on juice from the power plant. Yeah...
Stone Cold. Guy was a joke with Dibiase and wasn't even on my radar. I don't know that I've ever been so happy to be wrong haha.
I'm sure there are plenty of others. Punk, Ziggler, Cody, Orton and on some level Cena are not on this list for me though. Nash, HHH, The Rock, Edge and HBK were all guys I thought would get to the top too. For every one of these though, there are any number of Carlito, Sean O'Haire, JoMo, MVP, Billy Gunn, Raven and countless other guys I thought would be WWE Champion. You really just never know. I like who I like and hope they make it.

I was shocked when HHH made it to the main event. He was just another mulleted bodybuilder as Terra Ryzin. Then he was another mid-carder with a snooty blue-blooded gimmick. I had watched him for years, but he never made an impression on me until he was in DX.

I think we can all agree that Nicky from the Spirit Squad was an unexpected 2 time world champion.

This list will be nuts but here's my guys:
CM Punk: Saw him in developmental. Thought he had a dumb name and a cheap look. He quickly won me over though.
Dolph Ziggler: Really bad name at the time and I hated the constantly introducing himself thing. He had a series of matches with Kane in like 2009 or so that convinced me he was good.
The Miz: The guy was yelling "Hoorah!" Enough said there.
John Cena: He debuted at a time when there was a good amount of guys coming in that went no where. He had a very plain look. Once he started rapping he started to show his personality more.
On the other end of the spectrum, I thought Chris Masters would become a megastar when he showed up. I had him and Orton as the stars of the future.

Gotta be honest - I wouldn't say that Fandango has "made it" yet - but he's sure made it a lot farther than I gave him any credit for....
Although they seem to be burying him now - so not sure what they're doing with him....

I honestly never would of thought JBL back in his APA days(and before) would of been WWE Champion let alone for 10 months. Exactly. And I still haven't figured out how the hell it happened.
