Since it was worn exclusively by Hulk Hogan, and Hogan works for the competition, do you think we will ever get this belt?

I can see this as a possible RSC exclusive if Hulk Hogan ever became available.

I have the white Andre the giant version of that belt that was also used in the No Holds Barred movie. I would LOVE for Mattel to put out either version of the belt! But Mattel always says that older and more obscure titles have legal entanglements that aren't worth the hassle to them =-(

But Mattel always says that older and more obscure titles have legal entanglements that aren't worth the hassle to them =-( But if WWE owns the titles, why is such a hassle? I was thinking the same thing as you. But WWE does not own the rights to those titles. WWE used different belt makers and they are the original designers and own the rights to the titles. Thats why recently when Cody Rhodes re-introduced the retro classic Intercontinental championship you will notice that the globe was different, the font lettering was also changed, and had a sparkling background instead of a plain back like the original had. WWE was given a notice by the original belt maker to take off that belt off of television because the belt maker who originally made it owns the rights. So thats why shortly after you saw Cody Rhodes and then Wade Barrett with a different belt that resembled the original Intercontinental championship that was used in the 80's-90's. Personally I liked the retro-IC version that Cody originally brought back! But this is why Mattel talks about legal entanglements that are not worth the hassle to them. Hopefully they do the more obscure titles down the line once they run all of the current titles!

WWE has so much money and has nearly bought out everything in the wrestling business, but they can't come to a deal regarding belts that their own company used and copyrighted?

To get rights to the belt that Hogan used would not be worth their time, action figures are aimed at kids. No kid is gonna know/care what belt Hulk Hogan used in the 80's

No kid is gonna know/care what belt Hulk Hogan used in the 80's I wasn't talking about for figures, per say. All I'm saying is, if it's associated with the company, they should own the rights to it. This is more in regards with the IC belt. They shouldn't of have had to redesign it.

I'm hoping the Mattel/WWE deal will be renewed for (at least) another 5 years - so I think we will get some Hogan figures and belts eventually. I would have LOVED a WM3 Defining Moments Hogan with this belt.

WWE has so much money and has nearly bought out everything in the wrestling business, but they can't come to a deal regarding belts that their own company used and copyrighted? WWF wasn't able to copyright those designs. They tried, but the owners (Reggie Parks) wouldn't agree to it because he had another business selling them to the public minus the WWF logo. You can get a belt made minus the logo for about $1500, WWF charges $1000 for the WWF/WCW logo. WWF eventually went away from Parks and began designing the belts in house and do own the copyrights now to all the newer stuff. Probably beginning with the Big Eagle maybe the Attitude IC not really sure. However all the old belts from the 80s are owned by Midwest designs (Reggie Parks/Dave Millican. As stated, it is why the White IC belt was changed after a couple of weeks. Midwest owns the majority of the NWA/WCW designs too.
