Over the last few weeks, there's been a lot of talk circulating around AJ Styles, who's been with TNA since day one and is one of the most celebrated talents over the course of their 11 year run. Initially we did not report the rumor but as more and more people within the company are talking about it, it's become a story we have to address. The story making the rounds is that Styles' contract is up in September (which is just a few weeks away) and that the two sides have yet to come to a new contract. There's also allegedly been very little attempt by TNA to get a new deal done. pwinsider.com/article/79781/top-tna-stars-contract-is-about-to-expire-and-if-he-leaves-this-one-will-really-hurt.html?p=1

TNA needs to make this an absolute priority.

I don't even believe the part about no effort being made. I'd be willing the bet the extension has already been signed and are waiting to announce it, with the hopes of this creating Internet buzz.

In all honesty, hes done everything in TNA. I'd like to see him run a few ROH shows and possibly even a short WWE run before retiring in TNA.

I would believe the part where TNA has done little to resign him, didn't Bobby Roode have to remind them his contract expired?

It would be pretty nuts to see him go to WWE.

Well let's weigh the options here... - AJ has done all there is to do in TNA
- Once Hogan got there AJ's star has fallen.... considerably
- He gets thrown from one bad story line to another
- TNA has been having issues lately so maybe he wants to jump ship while the water is still warm
- His style in Japan would be well received by their fans. He could potentially be a top star
- IN ROH he'd almost instantly be their top star
- He's already an established star in TNA
- He has fan base in TNA that may not follow him to WWE, ROH, or Japan
- WWE currently has an AJ. So a name change may be inevitable if he chooses to go there
- Sometimes it's better to dance with the devil you know
- Lighter schedule works better for a father
Kind of a missed bag of nuts. I for one wouldn't mind seeing AJ try something new. And the fact that her one time biggest star is leaving may finally be the wake up call Dixie needs to right the ship.

AJ signed a five year extension in 2009. How can this be true?

Oh, yeah. Like they aren't going to resign their next World Heavyweight Champion... Bahahaha! From everything I have been reading, they might not be able too even if they want to. TNA is working under a budget now, which is why there were so many releases. Its a matter of $ now and TNA may go with multiple new hires for the price of 1 AJ. Apparently AJ, Anderson, and Devon are in the same boat contract wise. The smartest thing TNA should do is cut ties with Hogan.

Yeah, TNA must be struggling with budget right now. Hence why they signed both Rampage and Ortiz...

I refuse to get my hopes up at the thought of AJ Styles back in ROH.

Yeah, TNA must be struggling with budget right now. Hence why they signed both Rampage and Ortiz... Bellator and Spike are paying Rampage and Ortiz's contracts in TNA. They are struggling financially right now. As to whether AJ leaves TNA or not, I'd rather have him leave TNA cause, what else is there for AJ to do? He's already a multi time World Champion, he's held the X Title multiple times, the Tag Titles. There really isn't anything for him to do. Now, I don't see him going to WWE TBH because to me it's a few years too late. If it were 2008-2009, I would be aboard with AJ going to WWE, but he's already 36 years old. WWE will most likely change his name cause of AJ Lee, they possibly might even send him to NXT for a couple months to get used to the WWE schedule/style. I don't see AJ wanting to work the WWE schedule.

In all honesty I would be satisfied with whatever choice he made. However, now would be as good a time as ever to jump to WWE. Cena & Sheamus are both on the shelf for 4-6 months. And you have a perfect storyline opportunity to bring him in as one of Bryan's friend's from the indies representing wrestling in the feud vs. Triple H & Orton & company. AJ could have a couple year run in WWE, make some money, get a little more exposure and then go back to TNA and retire.

Hearing all this "Budget", "Struggling financially" and "hurting" with TNA makes me sad a bit. I wouldn't want to see AJ go to WWE. They'd either never let him leave NXT or ruin his reputation.

I think he will resign.
I don't think WWE would even sign him although it could be good.
Of course TNA waiting til the last minute to resign big names is no shock. They are so careless.
