T.D.E. went to the toy aisle and found some figures other than John Cena and Rey.
Real quick opener, from two Fridays ago: the basic Santino with molded Cobra sleeve. I passed his last basic and elite but figured this one was cool enough to add as the first and last Santino of my collection. Certainly not my favorite lowcarder by any means, but he's provided enough lulz for me to drop 11 bucks on his doll.
Today at Walmart, I stumbled upon all the new battlepacks and elite 22 minus Giant. There was one Damien and one Punk/Vince pack that I pulled the trigger on.
Batman Rey/Kofi was pretty tempting, but I'm sure I'll be seeing that pack for months (horray for over-packing Rey!!)
First of all... Damien's biography.
A "Teacher's Pet" reference. Mattel biography writer.. I love you.
Secondly, props to Mattel for making Damien and his robe relatively hard to get out.
It may or may not deter crapbags from stealing him or his robe out from the middle of the store. Better than nothing, I guess.
Oh shoot, Damien's robe went flying in the wind (tee hee).
Might as well show off his undies at this point.
I'm very glad they gave us the purple trunks/lavender knee pad combo for something different than the basic.
The headscan is just brilliant. I liked the basic but this one, IMO, edges it out. This particular paintjob has one eye looking pretty lazy, but I think Damien actually does have one bigger eye. I'm not bothered too much by it. His torso is pretty decent, but I would've preferred something thicker. Same thing goes for the arms. Damien is pretty beefy and constantly described as "deceivingly big." The figure is a bit lean and lanky, sort-of reminiscent of Wade Barrett.
Here is the Punk and Vince two-pack. Really cool of mattel to make a pack based on this random one-off match. The accuracy of Punk's attire, IMO, is a mixed blessing. Mattel takes enough liberties that I thought they could've given Punk a fresher color. But oh well. I wanted the/a Vince figure really bad, and this also is my first loose Punk (I'm too scared and too attached to my MOC ones by now to open em up). I'm also happy that they gave us some kendo sticks for accuracy as well as the fact that they're so commonly used in hardcore wrestling.
The headscan is pretty solid for Punk but this one has a few smudges. Oh well. If I had a choice between different packs I probably would've picked the better paint job.
Vince's head is good, but perhaps a little too small for his HUGE body. I'm fine with the arms, as he is legitimitely pretty jacked, but the height is kinda off-putting. I think he's supposed to be 6'3'', but this figure puts him, in-scale, around 6'7''-6'8''. It's whatever, though.
Rhodes Scholars? Close enough. I'll probably buy their two-pack down the rhode (tee hee) just to complete the Damiens.
6'2'' vs. 6'4'' vs. 6'3'' lol. And Damien's arms should definitely bigger. Not super-jacked, but beefier. But whatever. They're toys. And I bought it anyway.
"Btch pls you're a lawn gnome w toothpick arms GTFO my show."
"Now THIS GUY has what it takes to be champion!!!"
Tons of Punk. Don't worry, the new loose one was placed there just for the picture. It would slip off in a second if I kept it there.
Trent gets his revenge for being demoted to NXT after his arm exploded.
DUDEBUSTERS FOR LIFE.
Well, that's it for today. Damien's elite was number one on my hitlist for a while now. Maybe I'll end up getting the Rey/Kofi two pack at some point and open them up. Until then, my friends, "T.D." E. is out.
I decided to put my current loose collection together, and I ended up roleplaying as Teddy Long and putting together an EPIC 24-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH.
Heels- VINCE'S BIG BOYS/THE CORPORATION
Guys working for the evil Mr. McMahon. Must be [kayfabe] 6'1'' and 210 to join (would be bigger but Slater and Rhodes are borderline cruiserweights).
Faces: THE SUPERMEN
Wily veterans and small guys who are tired of Vince's crap and are willing to stand up for what's right.
