So something interesting happened at Walmart. I had a manager check to see if they had a new case of elite. To guy did, and brought them to the pegs, but wouldn't put them up or let me dig through it. He said, "if they don't fit (all of them) then they go to the back."
I said, "alright," looking at his badge,"Nick, I understand that. Maybe I give corporate a call and tell them how you provented a sale today."
He, then said, "go ahead, it's the store and his manager."
So I say, "I didn't know your not the boss around here, I'll see if your manager agrees with you."
I told him that I wanted 2 from the case, if they are both there I'll take them and if they aren't you can hide that case in the back. He came to his sense, lol. Bad part was, all that and NO Giant!!!
Someone tell me that guy was WRONG!!!!

I can understand why they don't want part cases out, having it all together makes it a lot easier to count the stock if needed. I don't think it was right for you to immediately threaten with "corporate", that's not going to get him on your side.
I also don't get what your asking with the title, Of course the manager has the power to not what the stock out.

Sounds like your being a bit of a pain in the ass, no need to make people go search in the back

That is generally how Walmart operates. This way they have a full box to neatly backstock rather then bits and pieces everywhere. What he was wrong in was bringing the box out and not letting you take a look.

I'm going to add that I never encountered this, and the Walmart I went to yesterday.... I made a thread about Walmart discoutinueing elites. Lady brought a case out and has 3 figures of the 8 already on the shelf.
As far as a count is concerned, it's stored in there system. They do one monthly, but for an item that's going to be discontinued.... Please!! At Walmart.... Always play the "corporate" card!
Another thing. It was pretty rude of him to dangle it like a carrot.

I've had this happen and the woman politely said as I was equally as polite, "I can get in a lot of trouble putting these out so open it up. If you want something from this case put one of the ones on the shelf in and give me the case back."
Too bad it was that basic line from around March/April with Punk, Cena, Rey, Rock and Show..
I felt like a jerk making her do it and not taking anything.

It makes plenty of sense to empty a box when one is stocking a shelf; keeping a half empty box of products in the back doesn't make sense.

Man, you sound like a real peach to deal with...if a customer were being rude over toys, I wouldn't help them out either. Even if they did threaten me with tattling.

Well, invoking the title of the general manager typically does get a pretty good response - at least gets those people jumping....
I recall going to Wal Mart to purchase WrestleMania XX on DVD on the release date.... I specifically went there because they usually had them out on the day of release AND they were generally cheaper....
I went in the evening... and all through the store - I saw posters advertising the release date.... and on the TV's in the electronics department, they were playing ads continuously advertising that "TODAY" was the day the DVD comes out, etc...
Only one thing... they didn't have the DVD.... when I asked to speak with customer service (to see if they had them somewhere and just hadn't put them out) they said they knew nothing about it. I pointed out that they had various posters throughout the store - and the ads were playing on the store TV's! The said they had no idea it was supposed to come out that day and they had no clue when they'd get it.
I asked them for the store ID number and took down their names - then went home and looked up their District Manager and sent him an e-mail personally - explained that the store had ads all over the place - but the staff knew nothing about it. I ended by telling him that I went to F.Y.E. to get the DVD....
Well, Wal Mart customer service called my house every day for a week after that - apologizing profusely for the mixup and seeing if I still wanted to buy the DVD. I was at work and never got to speak to anyone personally - but the message definitely got across.
I wasn't so irritated that they didn't have the DVD - but I was irritated that they had ads all over the store for it and the staff didn't have any information.
So, the moral... - when they fail - use the DM, usually you'll get a response....

If you take this the wrong way then so be it... This is what gives us collectors a bad rep... In that employees eyes we're already the dorks trying to buy wrestling figures impeding smaller children from getting them to enjoy. Now you're threatening them when they're just doing their job and what their manager wants them to do. THEIR JOB IS ON THE LINE. Jobs in today's economy for teenagers/kids in college or even people at Walmart trying to support their families are hard to come by. They're disposable and can be filled by anyone. Your collecting isn't on the line...

Honestly if your pegs are full what's the point of opening more I understand its stuff no one wants but they can't send back open cases. If there not selling why take a loss on the store and have to clarance them if you dont have to.

My wife is a district manager for 14 girl's/women's retail stores. She would have absolutely rather have made the sale and let the customer look thru the boxes. But only if you were somewhat respectful and used some freaking manners. Then again, she rarely deals with customers face to face, so a manger would probably have called her and asked. But a billion dollar mega giant like WM can get away with it. There's a reason they are in the top 10 in worst customer service, and in worst places to work surveys, annually.

What a weirdo. That guy was making stuff up as all employees like to do. But why go out of yyour wa to get the case and then make something so ridiculous up? Sounds like he has some severe behavioral disorder to me.

I work at a WalMart store and we are told by management and our inventory control team that 'if the full case won't go on the shelf, don't put it out". The only exception being if the peg that something hangs on or the facing that its given won't hold a full case when its empty. In situations like that we are allowed to break the case. There's a reason they are in the top 10 in worst customer service, and in worst places to work surveys, annually. I always hate hearing about WalMarts customer service being bad. I'm always very nice to my customers, even when they're not nice to me. I usually go out of my way to help try to find what they're looking for or more information about what they're looking for. But I know there are many many others out there that don't focus on customer service and give attitude toward the customers. And more recently the stores are trying to run with less workers and it causes the customers to be mad cause they can't find the help they need. And then when they do find one of us they are already mad, and thats never a good situation. But again, I know there are others out there that don't practice good customer service, but there's at least one WalMart employee that does.....unfortunately for the customers, I can only work at one store at a time lol.

walmart is poorly run, they will hire anyone and i mean anyone. all the walmarts around me have either teenagers who have never had a job before so they have no clue what to do or they are complete douche bags, they hire really old people or they hire brain dead people who couldnt tell you where they are let alone if they have something in the back
