I love, love, love this idea. Affleck is a much better actor than Bale. Val Kilmer has always been my favorite Batman. I have a feeling that may change.

I can't believe how pissed some of you are getting over this.
Ben Affleck 2013 is NOT AT ALL Ben Affleck 2000. Argo, The Town... he's an a lister now, he's reformed his career. Hell, he was never a bad actor to begin with, he just took a lot of craproles.
He is going to absolutely crush it as Batman, mark my words, you will all be eating yours come 2015.

I'd actually argue he didn't even take crap roles, ya know? What roles were BAD that he played? Gigli? Alright. What else? Daredevil? Arguable. There was a LOT about that movie that was redeemable. He did the best he could with what he had. I'm actually glad to see he was cast BECAUSE of Daredevil. Not upset as many of you seem to be. I think these same people would have complained, regardless of who was chosen. Affleck is going to kill it and when the first trailer hits and we Cavill looking off screen, shocked and confused, "Who are you?" Pause. And then push in to a close up of Affleck in the cowl, "I'm Batman" Cue music and action -- People will be creamin' just like they did for Ledger after that first teaser trailer back when. |

At first I was upset because I can't see Affleck playing another hero after daredevil. But as it was stated before, that was a different Affleck so I say wait and see.
Plus I'm pretty sure people were just as pissed when Keaton was given the role.

Isn't this the same guy who said he was embarrass to have played Daredevil because he didn't like wearing spandex. Anyways I'm fine with it
and I actually liked Daredevil, I"m sure he'll do great as Batman.

I'm more concerned about Zack Snyder to be honest. None of his movies have been anything past mediocre for me and that includes Man of Steel.

This seems like such a HORRIBLE choice.
I had heard Josh Brolin would play Batman or Ryan Gosling. Both of those two would have done a MUCH better job then what I fear Afflec will turn Batman into.

The Movie will be garbage. Ben Affleck is just cast to bring lots of media attention to the movie in hopes that people will want to go see it.
This kinda reminds me of when they made a big fuss that George Clooney would be Batman. Does anyone remember that movie? Or more importantly, did anyone enjoy that movie?

I love this news, like LOVE it!!
I really enjoyed Daredevil, to the point its one of my favourite comic book movies ever, so I can't wait to see how Affleck does with Batman.
It actually reminds me of the casting of Keaton; Affleck is again an older guy, a big name, and apart from a few, hasn't really been in anything like this. Gonna be fun!

My first reaction was "WTF? After his awful portrayal as Daredevil 10 years ago, and they want to gamble on this?". I've since been intrigued and actually excited about this.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out, can't wait for a teaser trailer in a year's time...

Didn't they see Daredevil? Afflek is not superhero material.
Should have got David Boreanaz. He's only 3 years older than Affleck so age shouldn't be an issue.

Clooney wasn't a big star at all when he took the role. He was basically a TV actor who had been in two movies that even made it into theaters. His casting wasn't even as a big a deal as Kilmer's. |
