I think he could work out well.
Just keep his wife far away. If she gets cast as cat woman then I am out.

I don't like the choice at all. I do however have hope for this project to work out.

I still have low hopes for this Batman/Superman film for many different reasons, but Affleck being casted isn't one of them. With how many times the internet has been wrong (and me personally being wrong) I'm going to reserve judgement until I get some interviews, a trailer, or hell even some pictures. I just really hope WB doesn't this up. I still have no idea how their going to reboot Batman without giving him his own movie. Just seems stupid to me.

People are defending this? Affleck is awful. Did we learn nothing from Daredevil? It's not his fault..the movie was poor and he did what he could..you can't criticize the actor for being in a movie with poor story and dialogue, it's not their fault

I love how this is being bashed w/ really no facts or merit by so many people across the internet and media. "'Why is he a bad choice'...'because hes stupid...'" Affleck has evolved into a very good actor and I think he can pull off an older Bruce Wayne. Ten years ago I'd say this was a crap move but today its not a bad choice. He was really good in The Town and Argo so I believe he can play the role well. As for Daredevil, the script and crap designs like "Bullseye" ruined that movie. Affleck wasn't great but did a serviceable job. My bigger concern if that they finally go back to the characters "comic" roots. Nolan removed any comic book elements from the character to make him more "realistic" but that simply won't work in a world w/ Superman. Nolan's Batman couldn't last a year w/out destroying his knees How is he gonna survive against god like beings...If they go back to the comic elements of the character and allow Affleck to do his own interpretation and not a stupid Bale rip-off. I'd also like to see them go w/ a more greyish color for his suit to match his comic design more.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this brilliant strategy by Warner Bros and DC.. Bring Ben Affleck in to play Batman, then once the MOS sequel hits big, ask your Oscar winning Batman to direct the Justice League.. Big picture here folks, Ben Affleck isn't just an actor anymore.. He's a huge piece to this puzzle.

I'll give him a chance. I think he has a great look for Bruce Wayne but under the cape and cowl, not sure.

Maybe one of the benefits of directing Justice League is being Batman.. Helluva deal for Reindeer Games.

Saw this comment on FirstShowing.net and couldn't agree more
No one wanted Christian Bale as Batman ... until they saw him. No one wanted Heath Ledger as the Joker .. until they saw him . Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder are not stupid and they obviously see something very strong in Affleck that makes him the perfect choice for their Batman. He's big, has the sophistication and looks for Bruce Wayne and he's proven throughout his career that he can do dark/edgy, charm and intellect in characters and isn't that what the Nolan's Batman is all about? If Nolan and Snyder feels that he's right for Batman, then their casting track record is good enough for me

Well I was hoping/praying for it to be Karl Urban, but I have no issue with this choice. I think Hollywood has finally realized that Affleck is a good actor and director.

There are much better choices out there (David Boreanaz), but there was a long list of possible candidates, Affleck is better than a lot of them. I've seen a few of his films, the only time I felt he gave a good performance was in Armageddon. So he is capable. I never enjoyed Bale as Batman (possibly because I absolutely hate Bale). I think he'll be better than Bale was.

To be fair, I honestly don't think Bale was that great of a Batman, and that's not to say he didn't do a good job. I'm seeing that a lot from the negative feedback though. The Dark Knight is probably my favorite movie of all time, at least top 3, but I don't think Bale was any kind of iconic Batman casting. To me, Batman films, at least to date, have been made by their villains. For me, Scarecrow, Joker, and Bane were the best characters of the Nolan-verse and what really attracts me to those films. Which shouldn't come as a surprise since Batman has the best rogues gallery in comic book history imo. So for me, the door for Affleck to step in and fill that iconic Batman role is wide open. I'm just not tied to Bale the way others are I guess. Mix that with me actually being a fan of Affleck and I'm fairly optimistic about the casting.
Also, some of the fan mock-up photos so far look pretty awesome. Ben Affleck might be the closest Bruce Wayne casting we've ever seen. It will ultimately come down to how he fills out the suit but I'm definitely feeling the look. I am hoping for a grey suit too to help boost the look.

So, apparently, Affleck has signed on to do 13 appearances as BW/Batman. These include small cameos in other un-announced D.C. Heroes movies, Justice League movies & the solo Bat flicks.
Better hope he impresses with his first appearance then.
Just to go off topic for a quick second though, apparently, Bryan Cranston has signed on for 6 appearances as Lex Luthor & that could as yet be extended to 10 appearances. He'll be an awesome Luthor I reckon.
Back on topic to Mr. Affleck though,
Not disappointed, Not excited. I'll take a wait & see approach with him.
He may nail it, he may not, but for those saying he doesn't look like Wayne, I beg to differ! I have seen a few photos of him in recent movie mags & online where I've thought, Yeah, he does look like Wayne a bit.
Still think WB should have gone with Scott Adkins though IMO, if you've seen the side by side comparison photo you know he has the look for Wayne & with his extensive martial arts background could have perhaps choreographed his own fight scenes & been the most epic, intensive crime fighting Batman yet.
I was strongly behind Adkins for the role & supported the #AdkinsForBatman campaign.
As for Affleck, I don't blame him for anything in DareDevil, I thought he was a good Murdock & a good DareDevil, he just got a crapmovie & not much of a good looking DareDevil costume. The fault with that film lies with it's creators, not Affleck. Same thing with Reynolds & Green Lantern.
I really hope Affleck blows us all away with his Wayne & Batman performances but I don't think any actor could have / Can make Batman look awesome in Fighting / Action scenes as Adkins could have.
Only time will tell.
If he fails with the first Batman appearance though, does that mean we have to suffer & endure 12 more Affleck Bat appearances or will WB recast if he doesn't impress in Superman vs. Batman?
If that did so happen, THEN I hope WB would recast with Adkins.
Also not only does he have those 13 Bat appearances lined up in the contract, but it's apparently rumoured WB want Affleck to direct 1 or 2 of the solo Bat films & direct the first Justice League film as part of his deal he has signed.
WB really are putting a lot on Affleck's Shoulders here, multiple appearances as well as directing duties.
Like I say, still taking a wait & see approach with him playing BW/Batman, BUT, I am very interested in how he'd direct some solo Bat flicks & the first Justice League movie.
