I'd be very surprised if Snyder didn't consult Nolan before casting Affleck. In fact, to my recollection when they discussed the role with Affleck earlier this year, Nolan was still very much in the fold.

I'll take Affleck over Wes Bentley all day long. Bentley is far more suited for a villain role imo. I could see him playing the Riddler honestly or maybe even Black Mask. I can visualize him as a couple different Flash rogues as well.
I think Adkins would have been horrendous as Batman so I guess count me out of that crowd.
Also, isn't Affleck playing a Bruce Wayne-ish kind of character in Runner, Runner? That might be a pretty good test run for his character. Similar to Daniel Craig in Layer Cake. I personally don't have much concern with him playing Bruce Wayne though since that's a comfortable fit for him, it's the Batman part that's the question mark.

This is coming from The Hollywood Reporter, a bit more reliable:
"Sources say that Affleck has been signed for multiple movies, should sequels continue to proliferate. The talks were so secretive that many Warners execs and most WME agents remained unaware of their existence," claims The Hollywood Reporter. Talks with Affleck began earlier this year when director Zack Snyder checked Affleck's interest. Early talks circled around story and character.
THR says Affleck will shoot David Fincher's Gone Girl this September through February before segueing to shoot Man of Steel 2/Superman vs. Batman from February through August 2014. The superhero pic will reportedly lens in Toronto.
Affleck is expected to be doing pre-production work on his next directorial effort -- the Prohibition gangland film Live By Night, which he'll shoot next fall -- while simultaneously filming his Batman role.
The Man of Steel sequel opens July 17, 2015.

I think Adkins would have been horrendous as Batman. Really?! You may be able to put how he would play the Bruce Wayne side of things into question / doubt, yes, but being Batman...... He'd absolutely nail that side of things IMO.

He'd absolutely nail that side of things IMO. The extent of his qualifications as an actor: he knows martial arts. Otherwise he doesn't have any value in movies IMO. I'm glad he wasn't considered.

Multiple Batman movies, so they are going with the reboot, just wish Bale could have stayed on, but we will see how Affleck does.

Not really too excited. I would of rather had another actor who hasn't taken up a superhero role. I find it hard to distinguish two different characters from two different movies (ex Ryan Reynolds-Deadpool/Green Lantern, Affleck-Daredevil now Batman.) I'll pretty much just think of Daredevil whenever Affleck takes the Batman mantle. Anyways going back to the topic,I'm excited to see what the new Batmobile will look like (if they have have one.) Q: Are they just going to start filming the Superman vs Batman movie or they going to make a completely new Batman film before it?

I'm a little worried with the news that Affleck is going to be working on another movie at the same time as MOS2. I know this has been done before but for a role as big as Batman, he should be giving it all his attention.

I read somewhere the other day that apparently Affleck is going to help work on the script with Snyder and Goyer, which is great news if true considering how successful Affleck has been as a writer.

The best part about his success as a director & writer in recent memory is because he took such flack for "not really writing" Good Will Hunting. So many jokes were made about his ability to do such good work, it's nice to see him prove people wrong. The only issue I have with him doing Batman is the voice...but I'll wait to judge.

the more time passes the more I like this casting.I wish him all the best in the role.
it still mazes me that people thought Nolans Bat Trilogy was gonna continue here when:
1)Nolan said it was DEFINATELY over 2)When Nolan said his involvement from now on was to be minimal on the MOS press tour.
so much dissapointment all over the internet because of this.I personally dont get it because I think it would have been a mistake.fresh start was always the way to go when paired with Cavills Supes.something Nolan as such a great storyteller would be keenly aware of.

it still mazes me that people thought Nolans Bat Tilogy was gonna continue Exactly! Because of Nolan's Batman being all grounded & realistic, it was NEVER going to fit into a super powered universe. It makes no sense for Bale's Batman to carry over. This is also the case for a new Alfred, new Gordon & new Lucius if he is to be featured again, if you bring one or all of them into the new Batverse / DCCU, the general audience / non comic book readers are gonna automatically expect Bale along for the ride too, so everybody needs to be recast. At least now we can maybes see Batman take on the likes of Mr. Freeze or Poison Ivy again, Clay Face, Man-Bat, Metamorpho, you know, criminals / villains that just wouldn't suit being in Nolan's realistic / grounded approach. Also, we now have a chance to hopefully have a mystical version of Ra's Al Ghul one day & for them to feature the Lazarus Pit. I've heard rumours of Timothy Dalton for the new Alfred which I'm liking the sounds of & hoping WB go with if the rumour is true. Ideally, I'd have the following for the reboots..... Alfred - Timothy Dalton Jim Gordon - Bryan Cranston Lucius Fox - Denzel Washington Lex Luthor - Billy Zane

I can't figure out for the life of me why people want Billy Zane as Lex Luthor. His qualifications begin and end with being bald. He isn't a particularly talented actor, he isn't a big box office draw, and he doesn't have any connection to any of the cast members or the current DC universe as a whole. What am I missing here?

It's like whenever the idea of an actor being cast as Lex is brought up, they think of the first bald actor they can.
