Besides Elites, how can you carefully open the package without tearing the box? I've tried to search for this question, no luck. I'm trying to open a Legends package, would i just use a knife to cut alongside the package? Thanks to anyone who has answers/suggestions.

I've wondered this myself but never dared to ask.

I used to be extremely careful, only because I used to save the packaging... then I realized I was becoming a hoarder. So now I tear it open like a lion vs. a gazelle.
I believe you can use a hair dryer to loosen the glue on the bubble packaging and remove it that way. I could be wrong, though.

If i was dealing with a normal basic Mattel figure, then i would rip that sucker open, but i really like the packaging for the Legends series. Just wondering how i can carefully go about this.

I suppose I should elaborate a bit for the OP.
Personally, since there's no good way to repackage them, I cut them to where you can still save the cards.
How I do it is to use an X-acto knife and cut only through the bubble (outside plastic part), but not the tray (inside plastic part). That way, you'll get less resistance and have more control over your cutting path. I keep a good distance from the card, because that part comes later, when you've got more control. After you've gotten the entire bubble off, you can use your X-acto knife again to go along the pieces that are left and cut it down to where it's even with the card, carefully trimming off any excess plastic. Do it right, and you're left with a card with only the part of the bubble that was glued on. I've been doing this since the Hasbro/LJN days (well, when I was a kid in the '80s, my dad did it for me), and it works like a charm.
If you want to try to display them in their packages later, you can also use an X-acto knife to cut a hole in the top (assuming that's the wide end) of the bubble that's big enough to slide the tray up and out of, but that's a pain in the neck and hardly ever works like it should.

So then how are these people doing switches with basic figures and returning them to the store? I dont think they would accept it as a return if its cut open.

You know there are a couple members that do the bit¢h switch $hit. I'm almost certain that this would create a chain reaction of basic switch threads.

If you can't figure out how to carefully open basics/bps/legends then it should honestly stay that way. Asking for help on how to be a figure swapper blows my mind.

That question wasn't in my intentions for this thread, haha . Yeah I kinda realized after I replied that it might seem as if I was throwing rocks indirectly, but I assure this was not my intension. I believe you are genuinely trying to preserve your box for collecting purposes but the method that was mentioned is the best bet.

I don't care about the plastic bubble so I just cut the side of the plastic with a box cutter leaving just the carding.

Take an exacto knife and CUT 3 sides of a rectangle along the BOTTOM plastic underneath (two short sides and one long) - so it's like a flap. Just reach in and grab the plastic the figure is in and pull it out the bottom. They always come right out, then if you wanna put the fig back in you can, and with a piece of tape seal the bottom and still have it like its MOC. Works every time for me.
