So I had a surprising experience earlier today, would appreciate any advice from experienced DC collectors.
I found the armored Superman and Batman figs at a local Gamestop. While they look awesome as pure action figures, I just couldn't get myself to pull the trigger; I really like this line, I'm glad to be in on a DC line from the start, but with a billion different lines coming out I know I need to be more cautious with my figure spending. And while those figures are incredible action figures, they're not exactly iconic Batman and Superman looks.
With WWE Mattels, at least when it comes to displaying I stick to one figure per character. Is that a reasonable/viable approach to take with a DC line? I think I was also partly influenced by the Toyfair reveals from earlier today -- I think they look awesome, but I know I'm not the type of person to buy 50 different Batman figures. Just looking at what was shown today I feel like I'm going to be a bit more of a pick and choose guy with this line.
I guess I didn't know if the "one figure per character" approach is a reasonable one to take with a line like this or if it's a bit of a foolish task, like I might be missing out if I go that route. Any advice welcome!

There’s two Wonder Woman figures coming in May and a Harley from Birds of Prey which I think should be soon as she was pictured on the back of a couple series 1 boxes. I may grab Wonder Woman, probably pass on Harley though. Havent seen them but if its a look from the new movie its an easy pass. Yeah Harley is in a gold jumpsuit. The Wonder Woman figures are on Amazon. Regular movie attire and a gold armored figure.

Any advice welcome! That is very reasonable. I was going to pass on McFarlane DC because its not in scale with the Mattel DC I have and I dont really need any more Batman and Superman, but I want that grey/blue variant Batman if its not in limited numbers.

The McFarlane reveals were nice but nothing I got overly excited for. Still need to open the few I've picked up recently.
I had Spin Masters Killer Croc in my hand at Wal-Mart today but put it back. I was talking to my buddy who is a huge Bat-fan recently about starting a dedicated collection to one mid-level villain that would have a fair amount to collect but not overkill. Like instead of the Joker or someone else with a bunch of merch, picking someone like Croc or Clayface and getting a bunch of stuff from all over the waves, collections and years. Waiting for now. They had two Crocs, one Joker, one Nightwing, one Robin and I feel like one other villain but I really haven't looked into the Spin Masters at all with all the other lines I've been diving in.

Tried giving the McFarlane DC line a chance but think they’re crap.
Superman looks nice but his articulation is poor.
Batman and Nightwings proportions look down right disgusting. Knee caps sculpted where their shins should be. Batman’s head being way too small. How they cut his diaphragm joint also looks really bad.
After the you fair reveals I can safely say I’m out after three figures.

Any advice welcome! IMO the armored looks are unique enough to be their own "character." I have a extra NECA Christopher Reeve head, I'd like to put on the Superman just to see. One figure per character is admirable, but it's an uphill battle. We know they're always going to make cooler stuff.

Like, yesterday I was all "Let's try and keep this collection in check, especially with AEW coming up," and today I looked at my figs and was like, "Oh man, maybe those Armored figs would really look good with these" lol

Heh, I was feeling the same when I saw the Arkham game Batman. Oof, do I still get the series 1 Batman? But they're both wearing black & grey. Decisions, decisions.

It's just weird/new ground for me because I normally just collect wrestling figures and it seems like it's way easier to create "rules" for yourself with wrestling -- one of each character, be a completist, etc. I really like this McFarlane line but I've still got to figure out just how I'm gonna do it.

I think that figure over Catwoman’s shoulder is Firefly. Killer Moth and Batwoman weren’t at the show from what I read. But they were posted on line from a pamphlet someone had a few weeks back

If you want to get that Hellbat Armor, you could always justify it by saying it's Lois Lane. She did wear the armor as well.

I hope this isn’t an annoying request, but I’ve been out of the DC collecting game for a bit. Can someone give me a quick synopsis of the the current major DC lines. Is McFarlane making all scales or? Thanks in advance.

Is McFarlane making all scales or? Thanks in advance. DC Direct née DC Collectibles née DC Direct handles various scales of figures and whatnot and caters to the specialty market. McFarlane handles 6, 7, or 8 inch (or whatever the hell scale those figures are) for mass market adult collectors. Spin Master does 4 inch figures / vehicles / roleplay gear for the younger mass market audience. DST handles statues and busts, but doesn't really do figures per se.

At this point, I’m more into picking up specific characters to add to my character collections than whole lines, so this makes it much easier to know where to look for Kyle Rayners and etc.

Thanks I was looking around to see if there was any Spin Masters DC showings at the Toy Fair. I saw a pic where in the background cut-off a bit was a new box set of small scale figures of Harley Quinn, Joker, Batman and Robin too it looked like? Pretty sure it was some of the new Spin Master ones and not an old pic of the Mattel ones, not sure.

Haven’t seen those at all. Did see Lex Luthor, Brainiac, Stewart GL, and Reverse Flash too, though.
