My Rebirth Wonder Woman figure came in the mail today from the store that rhymes with Toy Biz. It was only $7.99 + tax. I also picked up a ML Sharon Carter to go with the Scarlet Johansson Black Widow in white I want to get.
Mattel, please make a Summerslam 1989 Randy Savage
So if my last post in this thread was my "existential crisis" with this line, here comes the resolution lol. I watched a bunch of interviews with Todd McFarlane from ToyFair and came away super impressed with his approach and enthusiasm for the line. While my first preference would be for more of a by the numbers approach, I can appreciate and respect his "let's make the coolest looking figures possible, of all ranges/eras/styles" approach.
So instead of trying to stick to one of each character, or just the comic versions/etc., I'm all in on the hodge podge beauty of this line and getting them all. Lol. So I picked up the animated ones the other day and found the armored Batman at Gamestop last night. These figs rule and I'm finally at peace with committing fully to this line, ha.
(BTW, I'm not sure what else was the reason for my hesitation with the armored figs. Maybe they just don't do 'em justice in the box? Because once I took 'em out I fell in love with them again.)
I haven't been able to go on my usual Target hunt route lately but I haven't seen the Mattel Multiverse since the new stuff popped up. I'm curious because right before the holidays a store I haven't been to in a while got a random set of the Doomsday BAF wave. If the set was in tact and clearanced well enough, I'd probably pick those up.
I was surprised when I went to Gamestop this weekend that they have the Build a Batmobile wave tagged at the same price as the other figures that were overpriced at $26.99. I had a $25 credit to burn but they had two BWL and two Batgirl but I already had them and need Nightwing. Thought about Armored Superman since a lot of places have him for $25 now too but passed.
Went to a Target I don't get to much yesterday and saw the largest selection in a Target yet. They had the combination of Batman/Superman that linger at most Targets but also had Green Lantern, Arrow, Harley, who I had all seen at Target before, but they also had one Hellbat. Was tempted on Hellbat but passed for now.
While checking CVS for those WWE Slime Slammers(didn't find any), I saw these. I don't know if they are new, but in all the times I have seen those displays of cars in a drug store or supermarket, I've never seen them. I feel bad for whoever bought the Batman Forever one, they forgot to take the fins.
I can confirm I had luck with McFarlane DC at Walgreens last night but not finding many. I hit four Walgreens last night in a circle. One store where I was picking up a good amount of stuff had one Animated Series Batman. I had that one and my hands were full with Marvel and WWE stuff, so I waited. Wish I hadn't as I would have picked that up for a buddy had I connected the dots.
The next store I found a lone Hellbat armor and brought that up with the one Marvel figure I found - $6.49. I was SO happy as Hellbat looked cool but I had no real attachment to it. Can't beat the price but again, wish I had gotten the Animated one for my buddy at the earlier store.
What I will say is all stores needed my Walgreens rewards to mark down the Marvel, not sure if it was when my card number went in versus cashiering scanning but I felt like the McFarlane came discounted without putting my card in.
Among four stores I only saw that two but debating checking another string of stores before the week is up.
Now I have no idea if the McFarlane DC sales is YMMV or what. I did another little Walgreens circle today and brought Animated Batman up with me, the only McFarlane DC I saw all day, and he was full price.
