So I went to my local Target today and they had best of 2013. Unfortunately no Kaitlyn. I drove to my next closest Target and she was right there on the front peg. I take her up to the customer service and it came up as an invalid item. The woman asked me if she was mine ( I should have just said yes. Lol) I told her no that I got her from the shelf. I told her I would like to purchase the item. She asked a front end manager for help. He looked on their website with no luck. He said he found her on ebay for $50. Then proceeds to ask me if im going to sell it on ebay. I told him no I was purchasing it for my daughter which was the truth. He said they had to have the item price validated. He called the woman that does that and she said she cant do it it would take a day or so to do. Then I ask to speak to another manager and bring the other manager to the wrestling figure aisle. I explained that I wanted this particular figure which I got off your shelf cant you just scan another figure and give this one to me for that price? His response was no we cant do that because we would lose out on the inventory. I asked well what can I do? It was on your shelf and I really want to purchase it, its a hard item to find. He calls the store manager who tells him to have it validated right away. We go back to the woman to validate it and she says she cant. Back to the store manager and he tells me there is nothing we can do. Meanwhile all the other best of 2013 figures scan just fine. Kaitlyn has a different barcode just for her. I ask again cant we just scan another figure from the same series so I can purchase this figure. No we cant do that and proceeds to tell me they need to wait now for a rep. from Mattel to fix the problem. I ask well why is it on your shelf if you cant sell it? He tells me sometimes that happens. I say well this is a hard to find figure which was on your shelf and now im S.O.L. He then tells me they will hold it for me and when they fix the problem they will give me a call. He then sends me back to the front end manager who takes my info and the figure. I guarentee I dont get a call from this store and that.front end manager buys the figure to sell on ebay. Just the vibe I got from the guy. I was in the store for about an hour just trying to buy this damn figure. Sorry for the complaint I just figured I would share. Mayne im over reacting but I was real bummed about this. I try and buy all the diva figures for my daughter and I thought I scored today. Has anything like this happened to anybody else? Target employees were also very un friendly and not very helpful. Oh well thanks for reading. Again sorry about the rant

I would've been pissed. Why did he look at ebay, no reason for that. Target always scans another figure for me when something isn't in the system.

I don't think you're overreacting. I would be soooo pissed. I really have never heard a story quite like this before. I have yet to find Kaitlyn, but if I did and COULDN'T buy her, I'd be fuming! Hope you can find her again or they call you back.

When that happens to me they always argue with me saying it's a clearance item and I say no it's new, but usually after 5 minutes of me saying it's $10.99 (or $11.99 now) they always sell it to me from anywhere $1-$4 each.

Dude honest to god I will call that target right now and go absolutely ballistic. You have no idea how much reading that pissed me off. He seriously asked you if you were gona re sell it? It isn't legal for a store manager to ask what you're gonna do with an item you want to buy. That's ing sickening

I legit SPAZED on a woman the other day because fellow member msd posted in the mass findings that there were several cases of e23 but only two machos. Seeing as the store is a decent drive away I figured id call the Walmart to have then hold it for me just incase. So when I call this nice sounding lady asks what I'm looking for, I tell her toys dept. and she then proceeds to ask what specific toy I was looking for ( which I ing hate when the customer service rep asks that, it's not like they will be the ones looking) so I tell her elite macho man randy savage flashback. About 5-10 mins go by and I'm still on hold, the same lady finally answers back and says "hello this is Walmart"meaning she obviously completely forgot to even patch me through. She then said "uhh yeah we don't sell that, try back around Christmas" which is when I went apecrap. I flipped out on her screaming how a buddy of mine just found cases there and how she just lied to me point blank. She pretended to be stunned and said oh I'll go look again to which I said you and hung up. Thank god there was still one there when I got there. With traffic it took an hour but well worth it. Needless to say, if something that major happened to me like it did with you, I'd be in a prison cell currently. My blood boils just reading that.

You are not even close to overreacting. Like everyone else, I am now in a bad mood after reading that. I would have slammed a ten on the counter and took off. What f'ing simpletons. Even if you were gonna sell it on ebay, he has no right to ask and you have every right to do so. I would get ahold of corporate and get in contact with the district manager of that store. Make sure you tell them that they looked on ebay for a price. That is so ridiculous I don't even know where to begin.

While this is a half-truth, I'm sure the manager doesn't realize that all WWE basic figures are tied to the same DPCI -- so no, they won't lose out on the inventory. I would return to the store and ask them to call corporate for you -- it's something they HAVE to do -- or at the very least, they have to give you the number. I guarantee you will walk out of the store with that figure, if it's still there like they promised. Next time, don't take an item to customer service. That's probably the worst place to purchase an item due to something like this happening, lol. I'd have taken it to electronics, personally.

I did call a number I got online. It did me no good. I got an Indian guy (sorry if any of you are Indian) but this guy couldnt understand me and I couldnt understand him either. Which got me even more mad at Target. I will try to track down the district manager and complain to him. I just have to figure out how to do that. Thanks for all the responses. Glad its not just me. Again I know it may be silly in the grand scheme of things because its for my daughter and not even for myself. When I come across divas I buy them for her. If im lucky enough to come across them a second time I usually grab it for my classifieds because I know Divas are hard to come by.

I mean we all now that in certain departments like toys every item in the same lines use the same DPCI's how would a store manager not know his company's policy? There's no excuse for that.

I mean we all now that in certain departments like toys every item in the same lines use the same DPCI's how would a store manager not know his company's policy? There's no excuse for that. Because at Target just because the manager on duty is there it doesn't mean he knows 100% of how the store works. Sad but true in the way of the world these days. There is just too much to know, which is why Target has various layers of management and that's just at store level. STL - Store Team Leader (salary, oversees all ETLs and behind the scenes/corporate stuff, you'll rarely encounter them) ETL - Executive Team Leader (salary, usually one per department, maybe two depending how much volume your particular store does, and generally the random "store manager" the general public will encounter -- oversees store operations) TL - Team Leader (hourly, usually part-time/35-39 hours per week, generally one step higher than an actual generic "team member" or employee) Team Leaders will generally know more about a specific department because they work there all the time. Executive Team Leaders will vary day to day and whoever you encounter is a crapshoot. Some days you might find the ETL in charge of grocery when asking an electronics question. Should they know everything there is to know about the store? Well, yeah. Generally speaking, they should. Like I said though, unfortunately that's not how big box retailers work these days. Most of these ETLs you will see are people straight out of college with a random degree. They know absolutely nothing on how a business works, and are only taught the basics to get by on a daily basis. At least, that's my experience. -- Team Leaders are usually the ones you hope to encounter if you really need a certain piece of knowledge -- the ETL is just the one with the power to approve, or in this particular case, deny. Most Team Leaders will know that the DPCI is shared among toy lines, but they generally won't know that until they actually encounter it or are informed by someone that DOES know.

I would have flipped a big time lid over this and went above their head and called corporate.
I work in retail and you are ALWAYS suppose to take care of the customer no matter what it takes. They could have very easily put this on clearance for you just to get rid of it. I have done that several times if a price does not come up.
