There was a site that a member here made a while ago that listed all the classics as well as the accompanying posters for each series.

Man. Thank you. That brought back so many great memories from my childhood. Yeah the OP in that thread did a lot of work scanning those pictures. I was more drawn to the CS ads as it was such a fun and exciting time to be a collector (IMO).

Two things kill me about this set pictured:
1. Damn I miss the Classic Superstars line
2. mattel will likely never make figures of Blassie, Brody & Strongbow, because "they won't sell".
Blassie is one of the greatest heels of all time and an integral part of the WWWF / WWF for decades most notably the 70's and early 80's.
Brody is a legend that traveled the world as one of the top attractions in wrestling.
Strongbow was the perennial #2 babyface up north for decades and drew big money.

It hurts double knowing JAKKS could be giving us RI-styles legends via LOTR figures, even if they were only 1 per DI set. I knew JAKKS would never be able to turnover LOTR figures as fast as their CS figures, but the LOTR line would've been a great line to fill in the CS voids as well as get new attires from previously made (Andre, Hogan, Flair, etc) or un-made figures (Sting)

I miss the hunt for classic figures. And I hate the fact that with mattel I have to rebuy all my classic's

I knew when Mattel said they wouldn't produce obscure names, their Legends line would never match the depth of JAKKS', which for collectors never got past series 6.
The two biggest things I miss about the CS line is new prototype and MOC images. I think these actually excited me more than line-ups and actually obtaining the figure.

Best part of those ads is across the top where it says "Best of the 70s, 80s, & 90s"....Mattel's should say "Best of the Attitude Era till now"

Sadly that's already started...we got Defining Moments Cena, 2 basic Heritage Ortons and RSExclusive Flash Rey.

Thank you for that site !
I do miss the Jakks Classic Line, but the detail on the majority of them were sub-par to what Mattel delivers, imho. However, Mattel doesn't, nor will they ever, have the depth that Jakks had in terms of the awesome amount of names that they put out!
Regardless of which you prefer, we should be grateful that these two companies have given us such a variety of attires/figures to choose from. I mean between the two we can pretty much pick and choose which ones we want the most.
I collect both Jakks & Mattel, but just think about when it went from Hasbro to Jakks !?!?! At that time we didn't have the internet and I'm fairly sure that the majority of this board were between the ages of 5-10 (I was 10 in 96'), so it didn't really matter to us then, but think about that time frame without the internet !!! I'm pretty sure that collectors were scratching their heads as to what to collect anymore and debating on if they even wanted to "Re-buy" them all again... so it's really just a matter of how much you enjoy collecting these things and what they mean to you.
