Mattel thanks for the upcoming flashback basics, but there should be a flashback once every 2 series. It would be a less risky way to pump out flashbacks you think might not sell for example put a flashback that may not sell and see how he does and thanks for lesnar/ Batista bp

I say no. I still consider Million Dollar Man as unmade since we only got him in basic form. It's the same with debut Undertaker. I'm still waiting on those.

Yeah because they couldn't POSSIBLY bee made because they came out first in the basic format. Isn't that a rule from Mattel? Well it's been a couple years and we're still waiting. They have since signed other wrestlers who have gotten numerous elites. Even Undertaker has gotten other looks. I'm not dead set against more basic legends, but I don't want basic legends to replace elite legends. I'd hate to get, say, a basic Brutus Beefcake only to have Mattel say: "We gave you Brutus Beefcake; we're moving on to other guys for the elite line." I'd be happy with some less agile wrestlers in the basic line, though. I think a basic Yokozuna in white would look neat. I wonder how they'd handle his giant rear. Speaking of giants, this would be a good place for Big John Studd and Giant Gonzalez. These are guys who don't really need accessories either. Also, I think a basic Yoko could better pull off a bonzi drop than the elite version. I'd buy those. I'd buy a lot more. But most legends collectors are adults. We have more money to spend on our hobby. We should get the opportunity to pay a little more for more detail, accessories and movement where such things are needed. The GREAT thing about Mattel is that basics and elites look perfect next to each other, unlike Jakks' counterparts. I just fear legends moving to the basics, and I have too much invested in my collection to support letting the line drop in overall quality. I just feel that's the slippery slope we'll go down if we overtly support this move. I hope that makes sense. Of course, disagree if you think I'm wrong. This is an interesting idea/thread which needs more discussion.

Those guys who kept clicking "Tully Blanchard" for ten hours a day killed our chances of getting a Million Dollar Man in elite style. Perhaps. I have my doubts that both Arn and Tully "won" that poll. Arn was there through the Monday Night Wars, he had a galoob figure, which was a generational toy, and he's still around today. I can see why people voted for him. But not Tully. Anyway, a guy like Bundy and a figure like Elizabeth would be good candidates for basic figures. Bundy didn't do much bending in the ring and the other doesn't wrestle. I think a molded or plastic white dress would've looked better anyway. Managers would do well in the basic line. Maybe they could have a battle pack series with managers and plain clothed wrestlers. Hercules and Bobby the Brain with Herc's chain as the weapon. Earthquake and Jimmy Hart with the megaphone as the weapon. I think these make the most sense if we're doing basic legends. Give us guys who aren't known for their technical skill in the ring, and/or give us managers who don't need the articulation. And if we have a Battle Pack, we can get an accessory.

I'd be all for basic flashbacks. Yoko especially. Mankind would work too. Hell, the upcoming Mr.Perfect basic is the most excited I think I've ever been for a basic.

Id like to see some more attitude era basics such as: HHH, Mankind, LOD, Bulldog, APA, Neidhart, NAO, Xpac... I can see all of those in basic EXCEPT Legion of Doom. They need the shoulder pads. That's their iconic attire that no one else wears. If they're just in their ring attire then they're nothing too special. They need to be elite just so they can have that accessory. I can't really think of any other figure that has so vital an accessory except maybe Jim Duggan and his 2x4, Boss Man and his nightstick, Honkey Tonk and his guitar, and Beefcake and his hedge trimmers. Those guys need their accessories as part of their gimmick. That's one of my biggest drawbacks to basic figures.

Bundy as a basic because I sure as heck didn't sign up for Matty. I love your thinking on this.

I think legends battle packs would be a neat idea to try. Perhaps they can sneak them in like they do flashbacks in the elite line. Every set of battle packs could have a flashback battle pack.

I feel that any legend to be released should have their first in the line figure be an Elite Flashback. Then put them in the basic line and make a dozen more variations if Mattel and the consumers decide to fall in love with that particular legend like Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, and Shawn Michaels. I personally would like to see more variety of names and faces instead of different outfits of what he or she was wearing at this Wrestlemania or that Royal Rumble.
One thing that I don't think Mattel has considered is that a lot more people now know about Mattel and WWE than they did at the end of 2011 when Mattel already called the Legends line a failure. I personally found out about the line in December of 2011 when Mattel had already decided to throw in the towel on the Legends.
I understand that Mattel only wants to make figures of wrestlers that they know will sell well. Not much for taking a chance here and there. So I guess we'll just have to settle for maybe one or two new faces in the Flashbacks every year. While they pump out the regular 4 or 5 legends in new attires. Maybe by the end of 2014 or 2015 we'll have a Macho Man and Shawn Michaels from every Wrestlemania that they were a part of. After all, I know there are a lot of people out there that would love that and would prefer that instead of getting some new faces and names from the past.
