OK what's with all of these types of threads lately? Cheer up bitches! It's the holiday season. Get out there and buy all the figures your heart desires! Collect for nobody other than yourself! It's what Santa would want. Great post

I didn't reconsider being a collector but drastically reduced my wwe collection as I collect other stuff. It was taking up too much space. I have a fraction of what my collection used to be. But I also have other things displayed, I have limited space for my hobby, so I maximized it.

Honestly what else would you be spending that money on? Another habit? Cigarettes? Alcohol? Gambiling?

I seem to remember a thread like this a month ago called do you ever regret your hobby.

It's a hobby for a reason. It is something you do in your spare time that brings you enjoyment.
If I feel guilty about buying a figure it is because I really don't have the money to buy the figure at the moment. So I pass on the figure with the reasoning that I will always have the chance to buy the figure down the road. If it is something I really want, then I will be willing to pay the inflated price when I am able to do so.
It is all about doing what is best for you and your family. If you can do this hobby without hurting yourself, then don't feel guilty.

Usually just my grandparents - just the occasional "it's fake" stuff. My friends are supportive, though. I enjoy it and I never regret it.

I don't and have never let anyone else's opinion influence my decisions on what to spend money on. I am however re-evaluating all the money I spend on figures, and recently decided to just go with E26 rather than getting B36 and BP26. I think from here on out I'll be picking up Elites only, and First time in the line basics. Hell I may not buy any figure for a little while as far as money goes it's tight and just not able to do it right now. If I want to pick the hobby up full time (meaning get all the repaint basics and stuff) then I will when I can, but for right now, I've decided it's Elite series and 1st time in the line figures only for me. Oh and any kind of elite at all, meaning RSC Exclusive, TRU Exclusive, etc.
Those are my second thoughts about the hobby. It's strictly money influenced. F what any and everyone might say about it!

Never ever ever have I regret it, it's fun!
It's a hobby, no need to regret it. I like it, it doesn't matter if someone else doesn't; it's not like your hobby is collecting skulls from your victims and shit.
I once spent £240 on like 6 figures. Cheer up. I've managed to survive even though I've spent lots and I have a car, fully insured and I pay some money into bills.
Just enjoy it, even though I hate this phrase with a passion but you only live once.

See I'm a completest for the most part, and I have every single elite figure ever produced, be it from the elite line, a flashback, legend, TRU Exclusive, RSC Exclusive, etc. I will most likely continue to buy all elite figures, and some basics, like say Los Matadors (who wont get elites) and divas too. Stuff like that. otherwise, repaints, like the TRU Exclusive basic TLC set I bought the other day, I'm done with. Matter of fact had I not opened them, I'd return them. No more repaints unless the wrestler really changes their look or are just dynamite in the work they did on the figure(say a new scan, like a bald Mark Henry on a basic I will buy).

I guess I'm lucky then, none of my family really give a crap that I collect figures. They let me do it and just leave me be to it. It's a bit dumb if your own family is mocking you for one of your hobbies isn't it?

No, I'm 29 years old married with 2 kids. My son now loves collecting to. I will never get tired of it as long as their are new figures released.

Not really apart from the times I think about how much money I've made my parents spend over the last 8 years.

I sometimes second guess myself in what I'm doing with collecting figures. Especially when you start to see how much money it's taking to have this hobby, or how intense you get in having to get EVERY single new thing that comes out - either of a certain wrestler or just every line possible - and then you start to run out of room. You can kind of stop and think "what am I doing??" but I always continue on one way or another with it. This is exactly how I feel except I have definitely run out of room. My figures are all over the place in 5 different rooms. That should give you an indication of how many figures I have. I'm not even a completist, I just get the ones I want. The only thing I hate about Mattel figures is their quality control. I have always had to replace my figures due to bad paint jobs or black smudges.

The only times I have second thoughts are when I'm short of money.
